Two tribes is a better song and video plus if you go down the rabbit hole their are multiple different 12" versions it was the first time (or one of the first times) that multiple versions of the same song was used to sell more copies of what was seen by the charts as the same song (today artists use different colours for the art work or deluxe editions)
@petermorgan4720

Absolutely!! Relax hit number 1 in the UK for some time despite being banned by the major radio station of the time, and then fell down to #35 in the charts. They then released Two Tribes which again got to #1, and Relax then rose up the charts again to occupy #2 slot, so Frankie Goes to Hollywood occupied #1 and #2 positions in the charts, one of only a few groups to have done so. For Two Tribes check out the Annihilation Mix... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XHFPuH5iEww.html "Tag the bodies for identification purposes"

Fun Fact - This song was banned in the UK in 1984 by the BBC for its suggestive lyrics. It reached number 1 on the UK Top 40 on 28 January 1984, and sold 2 million copies after spending 37 weeks in the charts (35 of those 37 weeks it wasn’t played on the radio due to the ban). Any child of the 70’s remembers having a Frankie says Relax t-shirt. As you can imagine it is still a firm favourite in all the gay clubs, even to this day and this song is guaranteed together everyone up and dancing!

It's still a firm favourite in clubs, end of. Everyone in the UK was into this at the time - and still are! (I was in my early 20s when this was first on the scene so I danced more than a few times to it!) Also since you're a Brit in Britain talking about a British song (am guessing from your comments and the way you spelt favourite), we don't say 'fun fact' here! If it's a fact, no need to announce it like they do in the US! 😉 You are right about the t-shirts.

I remember about 3 of us guys and 3 girls went to a club on a weeknight. We started dancing when the girls noticed they were the only females in there while we were dancing to “Frankie”. So even 36 years ago, Seville, Spain seemed to be a very open-minded city which is what I like.

X-rated is a big strong. But the BBC refused to play the song on the radio due it it's overt sexual content. I think the record company decided to respond by making a video that would instantly be banned from TV air play. It worked, telling teenagers that something is banned as too sexual will 100% make them go buy it.

Great story about the release of "Relax" in the U.S. told in the documentary "New Wave - Dare To Be Different". The record label released the song in the U.K. on October 24, 1983 and planned the U.S. release to be 6 months later. This is from Wikipedia: Did you listen to WLIR out of Long Island in the 1980s? In 1982, WLIR 92.7 became known for playing new artists, and occasionally playing singles before other stations. For example, WLIR played the Frankie Goes to Hollywood single "Relax" just six days after its U.K. release, six months before the record company released it in the United States. The station arranged with a record store in London to get same-day air delivery of new records (years before this was the norm) from Heathrow Airport; WLIR music director Rosie Pisani would drive the 12 miles (19 km) to nearby JFK on Thursday afternoons to pick up the records.
