1) You can get great food for a pittance in Thailand or so I keep hearing. 2) Sushi, with raw fish (called sashimi) in it I never eat especially in foreign places (even in restaurants here in the US of A) where the hygiene is not guaranteed. Any raw fish and seafoods are also parasite-laden, as well. I tend to go with cooked stuff, as a rule. People think all sushi contains raw fish and seafoods, but this is very far from the truth. Sushi only refers to vinegared rice made with mirin as well + seaweed, usually nori. There are also sushis which are a mix / mish-mash of rice, hijiki seaweed, and veggies not wrapped, just thrown in together and stirred. The nori makisushi is what everyone thinks of when they think of sushi, however. It IS the stereotypical version of the dish, and what Westerners usually think of when they think of sushi.

You’re right Lloyd. Thong Lor is a huge Japanese expat area. Make sure you go to some of the Izakaya in the area. They are fun and so is the food. My son lives and works in this area and he took me to a couple izakya when I was there last year. I will be back there in December and January this winter. Can’t wait! Have fun in this fun area.

The reason why there are so many Japanese restaurants is because this area is a Japanese community and there are many Thai people who like Japanese food. But there is also a Koreatown area around Asoke that sells a lot of Korean food. but very affordable😊

Coming from your Phuket Old Town video, I'd like to suggest going to Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn) on the river for the Instagram Olympics World of Bangkok! BTS (Thonglor - Asoke) to MRT (Sukhumvit - Sanam Chai) then shuttle ferry at Tha Tian (Tian Pier). Or, BTS all the way to Saphan Taksin Station (change lines at Siam Station) then hop on the the Hop On Hop Off Tourist Boat at Sathorn Pier.

9.51 Normal Bangkok people we lived in a little soi like that my friend and we called a village but some soi or some villages they are private and people from another provinces when they come to work in Bangkok they lived in the buildings like Apartments, Condo, or flat and for the people who lived beside the Klong or canals that most tourists thought they are local Bangkok most of them are homeless and illegal labour from neighbors countries my friends.

Enjoy the weed shops while you can. A lot of those shops took a big chance opening up, and there's a good chance they'll get shut down in the near future. (Thai politics, who TF knows?) Crossing the street is easy. Just find a 100 year old Thai granny and shoulder surf. She'll stick her hand up and everyone will stop.

comment 2, from the end of the video. Most single syllable western names give Thai people (like the girl at the door of the bar) fits. They'll never get it right. Especially yours. Lloyd (เลยด์) sounds too much like loi (เลย), and extremely common Thai adverb/particle. They, Thais, will never get the 'd' at the end of your name. Never. Mandy would be a lot easier on them. มันดี (man-dii) literally 'it good' in Thai. It's not correct Thai (they'd never say 'it good' like that), but they'll get her name right easily. Any two syllables would make it easier on them though (if you don't want to use Mandy). Use your middle or last name, part of it, whatever. Or just make something up. Big Lloyd, Top Lloyd, Lloyd da boi, whatever. Have fun with it, but give them more than one syllable to work with. Really, I watched a waiter on Phuket mix up Joe and John orders at the same restaurant with me and Joe and John sitting at the same table for month after month. And John was the owner of the restaurant. No kidding. He (the waiter) got the 'Jo' part, but was completely lost after that. Every time.
