This is actually one of the best of all your vlogs to date for me. I can't believe how good that was, and the price was unbelievable. I particularly loved it when Joe corrected you about how long places like this will be around, and he said it could be gone in two or three years. That might be the saddest comment I've heard here.
Thank you for sharing this shop. The food looks incredible. I lived in Bangkok for many years, but I missed this restaurant. I hope I can find it in July when I'm back in Bangkok with my son. It's his first time back in Thailand in 14 years.
Everything looks fantastic...I don't know how I'm supposed to have my boring dinner now, after watching you two eat like kings. Definitely pinning this spot for my next trip to Bangkok.
This restaurant is my favorite restaurant with my friends and seniors and juniors in school. Until 30 years ago, charcoal was still used for cooking. This restaurant is opposite the art school where I studied. There were only cooks who were older. The atmosphere in the restaurant is still the same as when I was studying. My usual table is either on the pole next to the cook with the blue umbrella or the table next to the stove. When I was still studying Behind the cook there is a jukebox for placing coins. I'll sit next to the jukebox or next to the stove to cook.
@@theroamingcook At that time, every food ordered was considered to be okay. But there is only one problem: there will be a lot of oil. In some menus it can feel greasy. But from this video I think it's better that there is less oil than when I was young. We will call this restaurant "Jae Restaurant". The word JAE is a Chinese word used to refer to an older sister or an older woman. We are very close to her family. Because we come to eat every day, all day and all night. So close that you eat first and pay later. Some people have accounts that are months past due. When I was a student there was both food and alcohol. Most of the things we usually ask to eat first and pay later are alcohol and food eaten with alcohol. Because we are still students, sometimes we may not have money that day but will pay it the next day or pay the total amount at once for a month.
@@theroamingcook If talking about deliciousness I will rate 7/10. Because I am Thai, I am familiar with general Thai food. If it's a made-to-order restaurant. Thai people measure the quality of this type of restaurant by the Pad Krapao menu. The best Pad Krapao is a dry stir-fried dish. But because this restaurant uses a lot of oil in almost every menu, it makes it too greasy. But in those days when I was a child. We didn't think about deliciousness. At that time, only the students in my department had at least 30-40 people coming to eat at a time. There are more tables where you sit. There are 2 rows across from you. And beside the cooking stove, there were tables all over the street. In summary, during school hours there will be no less than 40 customers, constantly changing. And some tables will continue to drink alcohol after eating until morning. My friends and I used to drink there until morning as well. The point of coming to this restaurant is not the deliciousness but the bond that exists from my seniors to my juniors. later after my generation The school has issued a rule prohibiting eating at this restaurant. Because there was often drinking and quarrels. We're not the only ones who come to eat here.
There are more delicious restaurants in that area. From the side of the alley with the blue umbrellas, turn left and you'll find ran khao kaeng (various types of rice and curry poured over rice). This restaurant is very delicious, but I'm not sure if it's still there. And from the alley where you sit and eat, walk straight until you see a small alley on the right where there is a very delicious duck noodle shop as well. Which I don't know if it's still there. It was more than 30 years ago.
Dynamic duo back together again! Wow, all that food looks amazing. Love food created in a wok and having it heated by char coal, wow! Definitely want to try some auntie's cuisine.
The secret to Thai food is the type of seasoning. Varieties of raw materials The timing of using fire and seasoning. For example, just the type of chili in Thai food, there are more than 10 types of chili that are used in cooking. Thai food is high art.
I love that last bit you said about missing your hotel buffet breakfast and getting out to eat on the street. That's definitely my plan next time I'm in town.
I watched this again so I could try to write down the recipes😊 You speak Thai so beautifully and because of the subtitles I’m learning through you. Thank you for another delicious video😆
Hi Gary love your videos mate thanks for all the knowledge 👌, I’m just at Heathrow waiting for my flight to bkk, and one of my first stops is to see aunty, do you know any days that she is not open ?
Wow fantastic food fantastic value. Great video thanks for sharing. I need some of that. Great Thai food in UK is hard to get that's why I'm pleased we're going to Luke farrell,s Plaza khao gaeng at the weekend. Left hungry again Gary. Lol. Nice to see Joe back in BKK.
If you are looking somewhere for dessert (kinda) I would suggest to go to นมมนต์ที่เสาชิงช้า I would go before night because if you go at night there is so many people that the line stretches out of the restaurant itself I hope this helps😁
U guys lived in Thailand for more than 5 years , should mastered cooking it in your own kitchen by now. Like me learning how to grill burgers in the states.
สวัวดีครับ Gary, Joe and Aunt Amnuay. Next meal, I recommend stir-fried chicken with basil, fried egg, and stir-fried morning glory with red fire. and seafood tom yum soup (add chili paste) It's so delicious. This is a dream dish🎉🎉❤
A charcoal grill will make the food more delicious. There will be a smell of smoke from the charcoal in the food. And the more lard you use, the more delicious it will be.😋🥲😊👍🍛
Sorry wrong map in the description for some reason, good job you watched and commented 🙏 maps.app.goo.gl/J28JmAEcaygSYq518?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
Even although I feel very guilty about it, I am thinking about going to McDonald’s when I’m there in July but only to try the pad krapao out of curiosity…and maybe the corn pie 🫢 I’m surprised you think these places will be gone. I’d have thought the government or councils would know that Bangkok and Thailand as a whole is most famous for the food. It’s surely a very big part of tourism?? So sad if they can’t see that. 😢
I agree with you, Mr. Gary Butler! F- - - Burger King, McDonald’s and KFC. These fast food restaurants are so unhealthy for you. I swear that every time I eat fast food I can talk to dead people!😂
Please can I stay subscribed, I do go on a burger hunt no McDonald's shit only when I been to cleaver with the chillies on the Thai food and my English ass starts talking without permission.
