Tanks remained on guard around the Bangladesh presidential palace in Dhaka on Tuesday (21/5) after a night of tension and confusion following the sacking of the national army chief. Troops were on guard around other key installations in the city. There were hundreds of curious onlookers but no incidents were reported. The tanks moved onto the streets on Monday night (20/5) after President Abdur Rahman Biswas ordered the sacking of Lieutenant General Abu Saleh Muhammad Nasim.
