My local coin shop owner is PISSED! Please keep the kids out of the room. Sherrie's language is a little "colorful" at times. In this video, she will tell a familiar story. Her coin shop business was dropped by her bank, but that's only part of the story. Watch to find out what else happened. She and I pondered as to WHY this happened. Some people are so simple-minded about debt. Consumer credit card debt is bad, for the most part. OTOH, paying cash for a house, when you could otherwise obtain a mortgage at 3% and scads of ETFs return 9%+ annually, is clearly the mark of an imbecile.

I like your idea very much. I think that dealers should form an organization and bring ALL their business to a bank or credit union that would take the time to set up banking relationships that protect the banks against money launderers but facilitates those who run legitimate cash businesses. They could set up a rules based system to handle dealers, bodega owners. Pawn shop owners might be the ones to ask how they manage. A dealer organization could certify members in good standing and use the power of large blocs of business to get a bank or banks to beg for thier business.

I also saw his video yesterday🥴. 3 years ago I had to legitimately pay someone $1500 for some work they did for me. They preferred cash so I deposited the cash at the bank branch. Went online in to my account and did an e-transfer. Bank(largest in Country) Froze my account and put me on to the Fraud department via phone. They then sent me to the branch where I was treated like a criminal by the bank manager. Asked me questions that we're 100% not any of their business. Wanted to know person getting the money from me, why they are getting the money, why I was using the account to send them money and where did the money come from. Wanted to tell them where to go but bit my tongue because I knew they would really put the screws to me for fun....! Took 45 min to get the manager to free my account! I do not like this bank but am still with them. Have some loans and don't need to be faced with them black balling me somehow if I was going to leave for another Bank. I appreciate this video but the up-loader likely gets a target on their head by the bad bank. Could get even for the video. Criminal organization operate like that...!😮🤬🤬🤬

The government also makes it hard on the banks to deal with cash customers, because of the rules about reporting 'large' transactions and rules about reporting 'small' transactions for structuring, under threat of fines and prison for failing to comply.

@@alangrund5031 Not sure about traditional property or auto insurance, but my old health insurance would deny every single claim we put in because the procedure "wasn't medically necessary". Then we would appeal every denied claim and all of the sudden they were approved. So, tell me that wasn't them trying to not pay claims. They made it difficult to process every claim. We switched health insurance and haven't had an issue since.

My mom paid into life insurance most of her adult life she got very sick died and when her family went to access the insurance they denied it becase she died 2 weeks before it reached maturation WT. Don't blame PNC, necessarily. Bankers are being leaned on - HEAVILY to file suspicious activity reports not just for any transaction over $10k, but for any transaction that in any way whatsoever could be considered as "structured" - the law is quite vague on this point and it gives the jackboots at the Dept. of the Treasury (the FBI, basically) the leverage they need to make your banker the FBI's stooge.

Hell's nah, it's still a business so they have to give money back. If they don't give it back then it goes to the 'State Controller.' I've gotten a car insurance deposit. If a business doesn't 'successfully', give your money back then they have to report and state controller puts it up on their website so you can obtain it back. I've seen bank box deposits up on the state's website. Even coins and collectibles are up on that website.

Bank deposit boxes are different than cash deposits into a bank account. If you do some research and read the rules, you will find out that you were giving the bank an unsecured loan, and they can do what they want with it. They do not have to give it back. And FDIC insurance has 20 years to pay on a claim.

My theory is the banks are anticipating a huge economic downturn and are getting prepared for bank runs by getting rid of accounts like coin shops that would require greater than usual cash-on-hand for people selling coins when times get tough.

In australia we have the big four banks ( of course lotsa little ones ) but the big banks are all doing away with customer service unless your getting a loan. You want to make a cash deposit its either atm or queue with 15-30 people.

Most likely futile to litigate such because of contract law. Now, if other similar businesses that are cash heavy get a pass, then such may ripe for what you specify. However, we do not have clean courts or justice systems, and therefore, even with possibly clear and in your face evidence of discrimination, such action may be futile as well.

It wouldn’t be hard to draw similarities between other cash heavy businesses such as restaurants, auto dealerships, pawn shops, etc. Also need to file in a Federal District that isn’t corrupt such as the Northern District of Texas, once they rule and government appeal’s it’s on its way to SCOTUS.

@@BlaubartMT Liability for monetary damages due to the discriminatory business practices of the banks doesn’t rely on “protected class status” as in protected classes of people with protection for race, religion, familial status, etc. my point was that there is a group of businesses (a class in a class action lawsuit) that are being financially damaged because if the banks discriminatory business practices. I think if multiple banks are doing the same thing then it could also fall under anti trust because they are conspiring to interfere with other legal legitimate businesses. I will admit I am not a lawyer but I am a fighter for what’s right and the legal community is encountering new legal concepts everyday and if it was me I would push to find a lawyer that was willing to fight & challenge these practices. The banking monopoly have become the schoolyard bullies.

Yes. my credit union went to tellerless now to be more "friendly" but if you need to get or deposit or change coins to paper money. You can only do it at the main downtown branch now, which downtown is not safe and parking is horrible. I had to go to chase to exchange a bunch of coins for paper money it's rediculas.

Since I've been hearing about these banks' closing accounts, I have been thinking about Sherrie. She has told me a little bit in the past about her problems when her bank changed ownership and the problems she has had with them. I hadn't had a chance to speak with her recently because when I went in there last week she wasn't feeling well and was going home early. That really stinks to hear that this has happened to her.

The Federal government is working with banks to make it very difficult for "cash heavy" businesses to conduct business. Coin shops are high on the list to have their businesses disrupted. The government is in the process of implementing CBDC so that they can control what you buy and when you buy it. Using cash and precious metals to purchase goods and services makes it extremely difficult for the government to control. So you go after the source that provides precious metals to the general public, which will precede outlawing the use of precious metals for bartering. Once CBDC kicks in, items that will be greatly rationed for purchase will include precious metals, ammo, gas, red meat, appliances, etc. If you have a 30-year-old DUI, good luck buying a 12-pack. Or if the government thinks you are a little overweight, have fun trying to buy a donut at Dunkin. And watch your buying power being depleted to increase the buying power of the "less fortunate."

How they figured that out since it's not listed on my Schedule C is beyond me, but they cancelled my bank account with them. Not my credit cards, or at least not yet.

You have to look at the big picture. Criminal activity is not going away. We need banks/government watching out for it. The banks are a business and it comes down to compliance and risk. Sure, it would be nice to know exactly why, but I can also understand why they can't say. Hopefully they can better fine tune their monitoring while still going after the criminals.

Banks lend money and when coin shops keep withdrawing money, the banks have less money to lend. Plus, Americans are not depositing money like they use to. And of course, they are required to watch for and report certain suspicious activity. It just so happens that cash is a favorite of criminals and tax cheats. For banks it comes down to risk and compliance. So monitoring activity is a must.

I have two theories. One is simply that banks having to deal with cash and checks requires a lot of labor time and a brick and mortar location. Both are very costly to them. Digital currency only requires a computer operator. Second, tax collection can’t be tracked with cash transactions, and our government is pressuring banks to eliminate high cash use accounts for that reason to force them into a digital currency.

Bank of America did that to me around 5-6 years ago. I am not a dealer, I am just a regular citizen that had a savings account. I was dumping a portion of each of my paychecks into the account and whenever it hit a certain amount I would go online and buy gold/silver. I had $3600 in it and received a regular letter (not certified) telling me I had 30 days. No reason, just come get your $$.

I suspect she has a business bank that she uses to process her cash profits and then immediately moves that cash to another bank with better interest rates or whatever. So if she is keeping a ZERO BALANCE on her account that maintains her LABOR intensive cash business then it is NOT worth it for that bank doing that LABOR intensive business account when she just turns around and puts that CASH into ANOTHER BANK.

I see a lot of comments saying do this or that, but no one is looking at the bigger picture. The banks are not the issue, the government is, look at all the things that are going on now. How are we the richest nation in the world but yet we have the worst of everything? Infostructure, healthcare, education the list goes on. The countries that have all of that are countries that have politicians that care about their people, what do we have? We have politicians that care about THEMSELVES. Let's take a look at a few things! When a politician is running for office they get donations, for easy math let's say they collect $100 million, now let's say they spend $50 million, what happens to the other $50 million? They get to keep it. and this is how companies get to legally bribe politician from the very start. I think that money should go to a special account and be used for stuff like Infostructure, healthcare, education. and just like the president, politicians should have a self-life of 8 years. That in itself would stop about 75% of the BS the government does. How do politicians go into office with let's say 1 million in the back and have 100 million after 10 years when they make 200k - 300k a year? Homelessness, the government is throwing millions at that every year, and it keeps getting worse every year, why? Because a lot of people that are making over 200k a year would lose their jobs if they fixed the problem, yet the government keeps throwing money are the problem and does nothing about the failure of the people that is supposed to fix it. School shootings, when is the government going to fix the root of this issue? BULLYING, remember that special account with the millions in it from elections? Use that money to start putting GOOD cameras in schools, figure out how many schools and how many cameras you can put in each school and after a few years the schools will be fully set to deal with the issue and have no excesses. This is long enough so I won't say anything about the serious issue with police or how to use the military to fix the country debt.

Lickly because "precisions metals" dealers aare sometimes Scammers. They will sell the metal easily enough, but IF YOU try to SELL to them suddenly there is a lot of hoops to jump through. For one they cannot buy at market price, as when they sell it must make a profit. Coin rating systems are biased to the dealer. Ads claiming value are speculative. Once brokerage fees are included with TAXES, the value drops, Assay Values of Metal, So many reasons to launder precious coin metals, I remember a time when melting down US Nickels was a thing., the metal was more valuable than the minted coin. Then there was the Penny (copper) shortages.

Well, it could be that your coin shop assets actually hold more value than the bank. Perhaps they're just upset with how insolvent they are? There's no great conspiracy, banks are just trying to clean up their balance sheets in this time of rising interest rates. When you have money in a bank, it shows up as a liability which looks bad to shareholders in a high interest rate environment today. So ironically in a time when daily money market funds are paying 5% interest, the bank doesn't want your money. As a business you might need some banking services, but otherwise most of your short-term cash can sit in a daily money market fund that still provides liquidity but also pays better interest.

My bank expierences summarized.. as a kid i loved banks.. searching rolls and stacks for anomalies. Banks were welcoming.. i am now 39 and haven't went to a bank for 10 years.. i got lucky one time when i knew the bank teller and she would cash my paychecks for no fee.. 6 months later she told me shes not allowed anymore, i said i would pay the fee, and she told me her manager would not let her.. i didn't have a bank account with that bank and i did not want one.. last year i attempted to cash a paycheck issued by wells fargo at a first national bank with intentions of opening a account and they completely denied me. I was told to cash it at wallmart or a check cashing place.. I have hated banks for a while.. its all about control. These are indeed worrying times.
