I'm pretty sure DDE had the same suspension failure and it has happened several times. When they fixed it the mechanic said that he had replaced several and that it was a known problem. They removed the video, but basically the body slams on the back wheels locking up them up at whatever speed you're at. Porsche is just being proactive because it'll happen more and more as the cars continue to get older. I'm not surprised they're fixing this issue, they're always really good about taking care of their customers. Wish I had enough money for a carrera gt because it's probably a great time to pick one up.
I’ve never even seen a GT, let alone introduced myself to its various mechanics, however your bolts or whatever all look fine to me. Give it the beans lad.
I agree Tom, good customer service from Porsche. As an owner If a CGT were your only classic car, it would really p*** you off to lose potentially two summers of use. However I think most (if not all) CGT owners have a collection of cars, so not really the end of the world. Most do negligible mileages...shame really. I think the actual letter is a bit thin on detail, but they are just getting the notice out super quickly....as you say, I expect Porsche AG are terrified of an American crashing in a fireball at 180 mph and suing the company 😉
Cool to see a flock of Carrera GT's together, even standing still, impressive machines. Perhaps Porsche can offer those affected a courtesy car from the press fleet. With any luck, it will be an auto so maybe Ianthe can drive through Summer whilst deliting us with the new 'estate channel'. Here an idea. Nice video you got out of this saga anyways. Cheers TGE :)
Unfortunately this kinda thing does happen. I work in the industry I know. I can tell you for a fact there are recalls out on existing models for certain manufacturers right now that have been pulled/put on hold because the manufacturer does not have the parts available due to still suffering the effects of covid shut downs, let alone 15+ year old cars. It's annoying yes, but they can either try sweep it under the carpet or step up and front up. Fair play to Porsche for taking responsibility.
Is this still from Paul Walker's R.i.p crash ? Or was it when DDE snapped the rear suspension on his CGT ?? I don't think these cars were designed for pot holes 😮
What would happen if someone caning it had an accident killing a pedestrian due to the issue. I don't know how that would stand with insurer's after Porsche telling people not to use it. I hope you don't have to pay for th modifications.
Personally, I would take it for some gentle drives but avoid any spirited driving such as track days. I would't be comfortable leaving a car laid up for more than a year as that could result in some big bills.
I should add talk about timing! Finally stops raining in Britain and your open top super car is grounded. But, great to see Porsche fixing the issue on such an old car now, but yeah owners of these cars are rich and Americans will sue.
You have a lovely reading voice, I’m not taking the mick you do! Anyway random comment over, Porsche are amazing and it’s so refreshing to see a brand just be like somethings gone wrong and we need to take action! Well done porsche
I got the email several weeks ago, and I brought it to the dealership for an inspection they said there wasn't any issues. My car is one of twenty-three PTS cars, with a Midnight Blue exterior and Cognac interior.
@@TGE Brooklyn New York, the GT was purchased by my dad and passed on to me, for my 30th birthday he was probably surprised I made it to that age. The problem with my collection is there isn't parking in Brooklyn, we live in a brownstone so we have no garage we have to drive to my parents or my inlaws they both live in the country and they have huge garages. So my collection is split between both houses. About the problems with the axles, I was told about this by a friend towards the end of last year, and I had the car checked out early this year. It's a very low-mileage car the only issue I had before this was a clutch replacement, the GT clutch is notorious because of its size and the material it's made of carbon fiber it cost a fortune to replace. I like your channel keep it up.
I’d rather have one than an f40/50 any day Look at that build quality I’ve never been sure of carbon tho looks yes but long term strength I don’t know. I can see new chassis getting supplied on older carbon cars soon after this ocean gate caper As u say Porsche seem good to customers. Ferrari make u pay to change the flaming fuel tanks on f40? Don’t they
Porsche casually telling you not to drive your car for 18 months. Wondering how much this will influence prices and how much is intentional! Hope it continues to appreciate for you, great investment marginally beaten by a fantastic motor
I think its Porsche covering a lawsuit like you said over 1 case. It is fine to drive I believe like your insurer said. And 20k worth of FREE fitted parts for your carrera gt. Yes please. Albeit an age from now potentially 2024. We'll still wait and have it. And i dont think Porsche should be blamed or slagged. This is just part of it. It happens. Even modern cars get recalls. It happens. Inconvenience yes but it happens.
So DDE when they owned one had an accident with that part having failed and luckily it was caught before it was serious. Safe to say, this is one of the speculations that might have resulted in Paul Walker situation... Little bit late no?
Only one thing in this video was great - 4 CGT’s in 1 place. Other things was boring and goofy, especially 10 min letter reading and watches ads (any expensive watches in 2023 is a cringe). That’s why you’re watching to like conversion is so low, I think
I’ve probably lost track with what is claimed on this channel, but I’m sure there was a recent headline stating that you’d sold the car, no? I can’t keep up was shenanigans.
Oh no TOM what ever will you do. Want a loan of my Ford Kuga ST Line? lol agree with you pain in the tits but most Carrera GT Owners will likely have multiple cars so not that big a deal for them overall and its a positive for the brand that they are looking after the car all these years later.
O problema é recente, isso não tem nada a ver com Paul Walker e seu acidente, o causador foi a alta velocidade e pneus ressecados... você acha que se tivessem mais de mil carros com problema a montadora iria esperar 10 anos pra resolver?
