Hey Tots, I've returned from a bit of a hiatus. I've struggled as of recent with difficulties in physical/mental health. I absolutely love RU-vid and want to continue to do this as much as possible. I definitely need everyone's support as much as possible. Simply liking the video, sharing it and doing whatever you can really, really helps! Banshee is a great TV series and one, I think a lot of you will like! I also have some 'plosives' in this video and that's due to my pop filter breaking. Hopefully that will be fixed for the next video. Thanks as usual for supporting and I hope to see you all on the next video! - Mr. Tot
@@rustyshackleford2703 Health is still about the same. I do what I can day to day. It isn't easy. I'm just happy to be here. I hope you're enjoying the content!
@@NaterTot I have. Wanted to check on you. I deal with depression too. I'm wishing you the best brother. Take it one day at a time and know that although you might feel isolated that there are strangers that genuinely wish you the best in any battle that you have on your plate.
@@jordanl1911 Same. I was watching it week to week and brought a buddy in on it as well. Cinemax is just an off network. If it was on HBO or even Showtime, it may have gotten more attention from critics.
It really was a big surprise. I was looking for more of what Antony Starr has done after watching the Boys and saw the banshee in his filmography so gave it a shot. I was hooked from the first episode and had the entire show watched in like 2 weeks lol. Such a fun show.
HBO saw the success of The Boys and nabbed this series up. Antony Starr somehow had been flying under the radar until then. The dude is a brilliant actor. Just finished season 1. Shit rocks.
I came across this show about 8 years ago after it was reccomended to me by someone. Its such an underrated show, Proctor is one of the best "villians" in any show. Job is a perfect secondary character. Anytime I ask anyone if they have seen it, they have never even heard of it.
This show was amazing. To anybody who’s a fan of the boys and Antony Starr I highly recommend this show. The last season was alright but the first 3 are fantastic.
Meh...I'm on season 2 and I think this show is pretty silly. Starr's character and his cohorts pull off ridiculous hijinks with next to no consequences (he goes to rob a bank in one episode, is caught by the cops, assaults them, shoots at them, flips over one of their cars, has Anna rescue him in her own personal vehicle, and they get away completely scot free...no one ever comes looking for them) Also, in season 2, the whole Emmett arc was extremely cruel for no reason. ::SPOILER:: It wasn't bad enough that the Neo Nazis killed his baby when they assaulted his wife, but when he attacked them at the Cadi, that should have been the end of it. Emmett should have gone to jail. But instead they have him and his wife leave town only to be gunned down by the surviving skinheads. Shock value finale nonsense at its finest. Also, it was very dumb how Job was able to get the upper hand on the priest's henchmen only to be run over and sent to the hospital. Why wasn't he tied to the chair?!?! Ugh...I could keep going, but the more I type, the angrier and more frustrated I become. This show is hardly good, IMO. The only part of it I like are the brutal fight scenes.
Every main and side character of this series was awesome. I used to wait for every weekend every January to catch new episodes of Banshee almost a decade ago
Having discovered banshee AFTER watching the boys first really makes you appreciate Anthony start as an actor. Cause there wasn’t a hint of homelander in Lucas hood
@@christophercharles1937 There may be certain physical similarities in terms of mannerisms and facial expressions, but character-wise, Hood and Homelander are nothing alike
Oh wow. I kind of recommended this series to you months ago (on your Justified vid) but I never thought you'd actually watch it, let alone make a video on it. Can't wait to see it!
Probably the craziest high quality show I've ever seen. It's so weird to consider how over the top everything was, yet it still had deep writing and great acting. Jon Gabrus did a mini-series in his High and Mighty podcast several years ago, I believe the episodes were called "Fanshee" where he and Sean Clements (iirc, if not: Hayes Davenport) talked about how nuts the show is, had writers on as guests and I believe got the guy who played the Amish uncle villain as a guest. I couldn't find a link with a quick search but it's the internet and it has to be out there if it's something that interests you.
Man, we need more shows like this one! Every single character from the cast is an absolute gem - a troubled but absolutely loveable (shoutout to Anthony Starr - I love this guy so much, you can run Banshee on background with sound turned off, but when there's Tony's mug is in the shot, you're almost always guaranteed to read his emotions easily and clearly, except when he doesn't wanna show his hand just yet) thief with an absolutely fabulous, elegant, sassy gutter mouth uber-hacker with consciousness (god I love Job, I'd happily watch series about that character alone), ex-nazi in search of redemption for his past (I legit teared up along with Bunk when he confessed to the deputy), and even the show's main villain is represented as a morally grey character with his flaws, but also not without honor and humanity - damn, I could easily write at least a paragraph about each and every one of them, and I wish every actor the greatest future roles, they are all talented and dedicated; it blows my mind that this masterpiece is not nearly as famous as it should be. Every actor and actress pour their entire soul into every shot, and it shows, in the best possible sense.
@@NaterTotI'd argue Homelander has more going on and is harder to pull off as a character, and thus greater achievement for Starr. That being said, I have only seen the first two seasons of Banshee so far.
@@vario6492 I think you're both right. He IS better imo, as Lucas Hood, at least to some extent, than he is as Homelander. However, Homelander is a REALLY difficult character to play THAT well and he does a fantastic job as Homelander too. I watched The Boys first, but both of his roles are exceptional, really. Hood was an easier role played slightly better and Homelander was a harder role played slightly worse, but still better than most people could even dream of pulling off.
@vario6492 I think he made homelander better than the character had any right to be. His character in banshee is more complex and he displays alot more emotion
I have had a friend telling me for years to watch this. I finished watching the recent season of the boys and was googling the actors and saw Homelander was in the banshee show my buddy had been telling me to watch. I am so happy I finally saw this. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in so long. Everything is about super heroes now a days and man it was great to watch something that had nothing to do with superheroes. This is a must watch!
Just re-watched this after having followed it when it first aired, still probably my favourite show of all time, it's hard finding television with this much of an intricately crafted universe and this re-watchable. One of the rare shows that got everything right.
YESSSSSSS thank you for bringing attention to this!!! So damn underrated. Don’t forget strike back though- it’s epic as far as action goes. All real. Beautiful locations. It’s amazing. I highly suggest it for any action or even military/spy lovers.
Dude, I've just finished watching the series so I'm going through all the videos that have together convinced me to go and watch it now. Thank you. What a series.
I remember finding a clip from Season 1 of Hood defeating The Albino. I sent it to my friends and we ended up watching it all. I think this was 2014, so when Season 2 was out. I was talking to the buddy I send the clip to and after years of not watching, we began to talk about the show. I just finished my rewatch from Season 1-4 and oh my god. The show still holds up, the story still captivates me, and I dearly miss the characters. We need a return to Banshee or something, I feel like we need to know the fate of Proctor and what came of Hood and Job as they went off to New York.
8:19 you don't need to tell me twice. I've never seen this show, but if Tom Pelphrey shows up... you KNOW he's got shit to do and scenes to steal. He's such an underrated actor that I often forget about him, but whenever he shows up in stuff I'm like OH IT'S THAT GUY!! and ends up being the best _characters_
I only watched Ozark for him after binging Banshee. The show has many other great performances like Darlene, Ruth and Marty, but I might not have discovered them because of Pelphrey.
I was super late to the Banshee party! I absolutely loved this show! Proctor and Job were my two favorite characters. Each character had so many layers to them. One minute you loved them and the next minute you couldn't stand them. That goes for protagonists and antagonists. Great show!
Banshee is one of the most criminally and severely underrated series. I loved it. I LOVED IT. Wonderful acting. Damn interesting characters and twists and oh my god the violence. Only thing I wanted to get was to wrap up the story of Kurt , perhaps see him remove his tats and be fully accepted into society.
Banshee, Reacher and In-Between are excellent shows, action packed, ruthless when they need to be and above all very entertaining. I would love to see more of this Hood and Hunker dynamic on another cop series like the old 80's series that I grew up watching. Two guys that went down and decided to stop and be good...
I loved this show and was kinda sad when it ended. It was brutal and unforgiving. Stars roll in this got me into The Boys which I also loved. Crazy how different those two characters are while both being ruthless killers
I actually just finished watching it last week, and was disappointed in the end. Sad Hood never truly got a happy ending that nothing truly went right for him. And sad it ended but I loved the fight scenes it made it seem so realistic how long they last where most fist fights end in seconds but some fights last minutes. PS- JoB is best character
After watching season 1 of the boys; I had to go check out banshee and boy was I hooked. Grateful for the people in the comments recommending the show.
This show was on my watchlist for ages but I had to wait for it to come to Binge. And I knew I would have to binge watch it too so I put off watching it for awhile but eventually I did and boy am I glad. It is genuinely some of the best tv drama out there. Definitely a Top 10 show alongside Vikings, Sons Of Anarchy and Breaking Bad. Season 4 started a little weak as I absolutely hate time skips, especially when characters are killed off screen or the environment drastically changes or theres a shift in the story but it slowly came back and by episode 6 it was very strong again and I believe it has one of the best series endings/wrap ups in tv. I genuinely cannot recommend this show enough to anyone reading this. If you haven't already, please watch it! Theres 38 episodes each between 45 and 60 minutes long. You won't regret it. Although I will warn you, the final episode, although it may be one of the best episodes in the series, it will leave you wanting just a little bit more of a conclusion.
Banshee grabbed me the same way The Wire did, gritty, where the lines between good guys and bad guys are often extremely blurred. Flawed heroes. Truly bingeful TV
Seeing a “confidence clip” of Bunker applying to be a deputy is what made me watch the pilot. I didn’t recognize “Homelander” until episode 3, lol. I was hooked after the first episode. Bonus non-spoiler detail; Bunker’s face tatt fades as he continues on the show and completes his arc. By the show’s end, it’s nearly invisible.
Banshee was recommended to me by a friend. He knew that I have a soft spot for stories which are filled with corruption, nothing is either black or white but filled with shades of grey. I became intrigued and watched the Series from Episode 1 to Episode last! I enjoyed every bit of it!
Two things I learnt from watching Banshee: 1. You can get away with anything as long as you're a charming bastard. 2. Don't fuck with the Amish. (Literally and figuratively)
Cant believe i never watched this show until this last week! Did all 4 seasons in 5 days. An absolutely stunning show! That sinking feeling at the end of the finale tells me how amazing it was
This show was absolutely phenomenal. Nothing in the story was too crazy or unique, but the pure consistency and gritty realism in some of the story elements really drag you along. I can't say I was too fond of Ana, but Hood, Job, Proctor, Bunker and Sugar were amazing. Also Burton and Rabbit were excellent characters. I loved Fat Al so much despite his few appearances. My only dislike about the show was the unnecessary softcore. Sometimes it advanced the plot, sometimes it was just there for views.
Great video, A good analysis. I would have loved it if you had discussed the menanicing character of Matthew Rauch as Clay Burton. He was a force to be reckoned with, but I didn't like how he was dealt in the end.
This is my favourite !!!!! I was hoping to see just one more series but it finished brilliantly 🤗🤗👍 the next would probably have been a toss up between Walking Dead and Prison Break.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Bunker and hood are probably my favorite characters of all time. Badass to the CORE. I just finished watching Banshee a couple weeks ago. All four seasons and I gotta say, WOW. Best American show I've watched period.
I watched this show in 2015 when it was on season 3, i remember the pain i had when i waited for season 4 and then all 8 episodes, when it ended in may 2016 i was kinda lost, i wanted to see more of Antony Starr because then i thought he's a very good actor but now after i watched The Boys, that actor it's one of the best working today
Gave a warm "Thank You" to Methodical Doubt (the guys behind the show's theme song) directly via email last week. Responded within less than an hour with how much they appreciated it. 😳👍🏼
my memories with Tom Pelphrey is small town, Droogs, seggs, organized crime, and secrets. watching Banshee is like watching Ozark in the making. 2 amazing shows.
I love that people are coming to this show now that Antony is getting recognition for The Boys, I watched Banshee during its original run and it still stands as one of the best shows I've ever watched. Saying it's the characters that make the show is absolutely right, yes there's great action and all but it's the characters that really take it to a whole new level.
It really is. It’s entirely character driven. The plot isn’t entirely existent. It’s the characters that create it and I think that’s why the show always jumped off the pages.
I've just watched and rewatched banshee. Omg iv never ever watched anything like this before. Iv loved breaking bad the wire etc. But this is a rollercoaster ride of shock wanting more. Lucas hood ...kai...Rebecca ..Carrie i loved them all Job and brock. I hope i spelt that correct. Hop hop mr rabbit. Dont die without watching this masterpiece and kai 's bodyguard. Hes brilliant
I just finished my second rewatch and I can't agree more on how amazing it is! The character development is just so good - Like just look at the youtube tid-bits out there, everyone wants a spin-off on all the characters because despite being so action-oriented, they actually carry a lot of backstory with them! I Agree that this is the best action show out there. The constant tension in every interaction and everyone "tightening their fists" when getting agitated is so comic-book like and such a thrill to watch, because they do not hold back on the action and let the fantasy play out fully everytime haha. Marvel series come close to fulfilling that fantasy such as the punisher and daredevil, but somehow Banshee just takes it to the next level by introducing new bad-asses every season and every now and then. It is the best guily pleasure series out there and I've watched A lot of them
"I really don't remember how Banshee blipped on my radar" - Well, I still remember the exact moment. I was talking to an uncle of mine at a garden party, and we discussed how good Sons of Anarchy was and that it was hard to find something like it. Then he told me about Banshee in his own way "Ex-con comes to a sort of Amish town and the sheriff gets killed so the ex con just steals his identity and then he's the sheriff but still doing a lot of robbery". To be honest, I hadn't heard the least bit of that show before and what he just told me sounded more ridiculous than anything else. Out of respect for my uncle, I gave the show a chance anyway and got sucked right into it. Binged through the first 3 seasons. 4th wasn't out then so I had a hard time waiting for it which I experience not too often anymore. And the 4th season was really worth waiting for, wrapped it all up so good. I have recommended this series to some people who l thought might like it and nobody had ever heard of it and they all loved it.
I learned of this series by clicking on a video about Ozark-Ben's capture by the cartel, to read what people had to say about it in the comments. Somebody mentioned Banshee because Tom was cast in Banshee.
I'm not sure if you'd like it, Mouse. I'm not big on brutality, but got over it quickly. It felt more like John Wick in terms of raw intensity. I can't do like Saw - torture porn. Regardless, I really fell in love, probably by the like third episode. I was hooked.
Loved this show. Great story lines and the best fight scenes. The one in season three between burton and nola in the car with the tomahawk had me talking about it for weeks. Great review again man. And anthony Starr has gone on to become Homelander in The Boys. he is such a great actor
Finally, someone made a video on Banshee. This show is absolutely fantastic and Antony Starr absolutely nailed it in this role!! This is one of my all-time favourite shows and its a shame that not many people know about this show. tbh, this show should have been on HBO because Cinemax sucked at promoting the show!
i anguished for a long time on why job was so familiar then i realized he was pam from true blood. always infinitely calm with a snarky insult ready to fire love that character
I watched the entire series when it was on. Couldn't wait for the next episode. Wish they could bring it back. Also, the soundtrack I bought also. It's also fantastic.
I'll check this out after I finish falcon and winter soldier. I watched Barry after watching your video and really enjoyed it! Also I checked out the town from your top 10 video.. Can't believe I missed that one.
The reason you like Bunker so much despite the Neo-Nazi is the actor playing him. Tom Pelphrey is extremely talented. He's in season 3 of Ozark and absolutely kills it. I've never seen a TV show give a 5-minute monologue to a side character they introduced halfway through the show and it works remarkably well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bA_A5_6bXnY.html
This show. This show is fucking amazing and I didn’t get bored once. I got hooked for good in season 1 episode 3 I think it’s strongest and my favourite season is Season 3
This show makes you want to know more about Lucas Hood .. eh.. not the real Lucas .. great story and great writing . It’s a action movie . A love story .. a mystery movie . A crime movie . All in one
