Watching peter play chess and talk about it is like watching a surgeon doing an operation with extreme caution or an architect drawing precise lines

Some instructive quotes: Our opponent is trying to create a mess - let's just ignore the mess. Ok, the bishop is a bishop, but the rook is a rook. So let's not calculate any nonsense. The prestige battle had to be played. No no no. No need for checkmate. Why should we sacrifice if we don't need to sacrifice? Two bishops are two bishops. Let's say it's just nice to have fun without the pressure of rating or whatsoever. Just get a nice game, control the centre and have the easy game. This is now a battle of beliefs. Let's stick to this. If it works, it works.

Peter plays clean chess, I really like it. Surely one of the best modern players to not become champion. FUN FACT: I won a World Chess Championship backpack during the match between Kramnik and Leko back in the day by answering chess trivia on the official site. Good times!!!

At 14:13 chess24 has a bug in the calculation of material balance, it shows the opponent at +6 even thought they are down a bishop, it's because Peter promoted a queen that got taken so it adds +9 to the opponent. Hey @chess24, material difference should be counted by what's left on the board, not by what's been taken, otherwise you risk a player showing up as +18 from taking 2 promoted queens even though they only have a king left. Maybe one of the users can report it as a bug.

Feel sorry for Peter running into that Precociusboy, who was clearly closer to 2,500 than 1970. I don't think there's any way in hell that a sub 2,000 player could beat leko in blitz. Just not happening.

@@danjeory3659 surprise, surprise! I’m amazed how prevalent cheating is. I play blitz regularly online, and every single month the site organisers restore points on my account after they discovered that some of my opponents had cheated. I just don’t get why anyone would cheat. How can that be fun or make you feel better about your playing?

peter leko is to chess as howard roark was to architecture.. neither understands the context of how great they are.. they just do what they do so well and so naturally that it's like swallowing or drawing in air.. its just so natural and so basic to them
@tgwnn
@tgwnn 2 года назад
Putting him against randoms shows us how truly good he is. What chess fans think of him (or others with a similar style) is that he's "boring" or "drawish" but he obviously has tons and tons of knowledge and knows how to attack just fine. He just wants to make sure that attacks are sound and well prepared. And against other 2700+ players that can mean that his attack is neutralized before it starts (perhaps at the cost of some positional concessions by the other side).

it really felt like the last 1900 guy wasn t fair(or some gm undercover), i mean equal at move 25 with an opening in wich Peter Leko is familiar with...
@claudiog7692
@claudiog7692 2 года назад
The Anti-Marshall is very solid for White and I think a 1900 can keep up with a GM for a little bit with White using solid openings, what were you expecting him? To lose in 20 moves?
@unnume4389
@unnume4389 2 года назад
@@claudiog7692 Have you checked the last 2 games with an engine? First it was a scotch, the 1900 played all the corect moves, and at move 12 they were equal so he played a slightly worse move, to not get caught (these type of cheaters are hardly caught beacuse they play engine moves, and at some point they include some moves on their own, because if you play 40 top engine moves, you will get banned in no time, also when they have an advantage or smth they start to spend some time, to look like they are thinking, also they play very fast when the oppeonent playes the best move, because they are already prepared for it, I ve seen this type a lot, one defeated Nepo, some defeatead Hikaru, not to talk about lichess arenas ), then he continued to play the best or the second best move, and by move 20-25 he was at +1.5, and he traded everything for an eqaul endgame, where he played all the best moves, except some 2 moves inaccurecies with the knight, which again he played those to not get caught. How can an 1900 outplay a gm in an opnening, and then play almost all top moves in a difficult endgame, to maintain equality? And then the spanish game, played to perfection, an opening in which Peter Leko is very good, and at move 19 engine says small advantage for black. I mean he has years of preparation in these lines, and then comes a 1900 who outprepares him? Sounds completely legitimate to you? Of course he played g5 which is an inaccuracy, at that point it was outrageous already, and look at next moves, he almost equalised, at move 27, and the played a bad move Nd4, but Peter Leko didn t found Nxe5, so it again was very close to equal, so he played Rg8, which loses the exchange, if he really played that well till that point, why he allowed Nb7, guarding the Quenning square, I mean, that is why he played Rd8 to stop the pawn in the fisrt place, why move that rook away? And after losing the exchange, again he plays top moves by the engine, and Peter smells the cheater and starts to play very fast, and eventually the cheater has to make also fast moves, and since not all Peter s moves are the best, he does not see all of them coming, and he eventually loses beacuse makes fast moves without engine help. I did not say that I expect a 1900 to lose in 20 moves, I really believe that a 1900 player can defeat a super strong gm, but only if the gm plays poorly, and makes some blunder. I do not expect a 1900 to outplay an super gm in the opening, middlegame and the endgame. But since you commented that, I think you barely watched those 2 games.

@@unnume4389 if he was cheating he wouldnt have lost the second game .. i myself won against a 2600 rated plater and im just 2000 .. sometimes you just play good moves and win
@unnume4389
@unnume4389 2 года назад
@@SalemSalem-br6vn he lost because Peter started playing very fast, and inaccurate. (He stated that is a nervous reaction) Also this is an intelligent cheater, he plays like 10 top moves, and then 1-2 inaccuracies. Check with an engine. Also when Peter plays the best moves, he plays fast (he expects), and when Peter plays not a move recommended by engine, he needs time to check the move. Also he is clever in time management. He plays very fast, till Peter makes some inaccuracies, and the spend some seconds to pretend he thinks. I also believe a 1900 can beat a super gm, but not in this way, outplaying him in opening, midlegame and endgame. Basically the 1900 guy is equal or better till those small inaccuracies (to avoid getting immediate ban), and the saves almost lost positions with 7-8 best moves, which ar not obvious. Basically he is saying give me a bad position against a super gm, and I will save it in no time, outplaying the super gm. This is not possible.

So obvious the 1900 player is cheating. I don’t think a GM would troll Peter Leko, this would be disrespectful. And Peter beat the cheater’s super engine which shows he’s the real deal, and the cheater is a sad pathetic coward. I hope to see more of Peter Leko on banter blitz soon!! Thanks!! 🤔

Not getting any points for a 2700 opponent? That's just crazy. You should always get at least a point no matter the rating difference otherwise whats the point of playing anyone who's 50 points below you but a decent player nevertheless? Makes no sense and should be changed asap. Please adjust this chess 24
