This is what I write all the time! These white “Christians” are today’s Pharisees. They are who God warns us about. This occurred after a group of some of the wealthiest people on the planet formed the American Liberty League to counter FDR's policies. They felt that their fortunes were being threatened by the government's decision to regulate Wall Street (elimination of the Laissez Faire arrangement between bankers and wall street financiers), and FDR's threat to remove the U.S. from the gold standard. They felt their fortunes were safer under a fascist regime. A similar situation exists today with one of the wealthiest industries on the planet being 'existentially' threatened by a government that's beginning to listen to climate science. Think about it. With the wealth this particular industry wields, what wouldn't it be willing to do?

My parents watched their church slowly politicize during COVID. They're not right wing so noticed it quickly but also the people around them, friends and family, are all reactionary conservatives, so they were used to tolerating it. I told them if they ever hear a preacher say anything about politics, you don't go back. There's a good reason we separate the two. These people are ripe for manipulation.

I grew up Southern Baptist myself, and remember when they added "under God" to the pledge of allegiance. I still cannot say that, to this day. But I also remember Vacation Bible School, where we children would walk down the aisle of the sanctuary in the morning exercises every day singing "Onward Christian Soldier, marching as to war!, With the Cross of Jesus, going on before." Talk about indoctrination! We didn't realize it at the time, but it was happening to us from the age of 7 years old. I didn't realize how bad it was til I got away from the Southern Baptist doctrine and started going to an American Baptist church. I read a book they were studying called "True Believers", and realized how easily people are brainwashed. For the last 50 years, I've been making sure that doesn't happen to me again or any of my kids.

He said that we should not pray to be seen, making long public prayers like pharisees, but should go pray privately, and often went off by Himself to pray. I get it, what you are saying, but I might paraphrase something Jesus said, by saying a majority of those extremist so-called christians may go to a "church", but they do not have "church" in their heart. I’m Catholic and proud to be and when I see this stuff and hear the spew of hate in the name of gods disgusts me.

Well, the rest of the country, world even, needs you guys to start reminding your congregations. Millions of Christians are voting for people who have shown us time and time again they do not represent Christian values. Dealing with my family going through this, some just needed a reminder, but others I've learned they don't represent those values either, and they're just not important to them and never have been.

MAYBE we should all watch Atheist-RU-vidrs, whos declared Goal is to bridge the Divide between Atheists and Theists, let alone Extremists and Normal People?!
