LaRocco, 2nd in the world Supercross championship and top 5 in the AMA Supercross championship and barely gets mentioned. That's B.S. He was a beast and a former champion. 10+ yrs older than most of his competitors and still top 5. Enough said!

Nope. Not Enough said. You forgot one big factor. He did it on a 2-stroke. I knew RC and Chad lasted this long on the 2-strokes, (and winning). But I forgot Mike was still on one. Right away in 1998, the 4-stroke started extending retiring pro careers also. It was easier to ride and more powerful,---on purpose.

@@EarthSurferUSA The EPA was not involved as far as I know. I also thought this as well but think about this. First of all they still sell 2 strokes so it’s legal for sure. Also the president of Honda is who pushed for 4 strokes. Honda is a very powerful force. The only reason I can figure they would want to do this is because they make money on parts. 4 strokes have more parts and also have to be worked on more often. I know this for a fact because I’ve owned both. My Honda CR250 kept running forever and I raced intermediate and still only put a piston in every 6 months and it was my practice bike as well. I never did a low end on it and it just kept running. We need names! We need names of the people responsible for turning pro motocross into 4 strokes and all names involved.

OH, man!...really? I was going through hell in my life back then and didn't follow my passion. So sad I missed that season. Grew up racing Wardy. Walked away from it all. Had so many offers. That's OK. God is good all the time.

I have to say. I saw RC at hangtown 2001 unbelievable never shut the throttle off the hole moto he was even faster the 2nd moto......i am truly blessed to have live in the (back in the day) I saw all the greats from 1974 hangtown and still going strong on my YZ250 2 stroke for life .....go old timers #34 nov

it blows my mind how good he was at racing, he made passes and winning look so easy and took so many championships and undefeated seasons its a fact that he is indeed the GOAT, no doubt about that, especially after making it up onto a 250 he really showed his true side in racing.

DaWhite EazyE really is that why they need twice the capacity always find this argument strange, yet you go to EnduroGP or Hard Enduro or Wess and 2 strokes dominate, EnduroGP now is really an extended motocross track, this last weekend 3002t 2nd overall and 250 2t first vs 250fs and 450fs, yeah that argument really stacks, other reason is restrictions by AMA, people forget that while they could,d use race rules in 4t they restricted 2t after 2002 on fuel additives! Stacked much. That’s only part of the real story! The biggest lie in SX MX history do some research.

DaWhite EazyE Some media commented on Arena Cross recently and it is the same for SX, SX on 450s is like Indy cars on a go kart circuit, it’s a joke, wrong bike for indoors, why we have had half the field injured this season at one time or another.

Just when u thought Ricky was unstoppable, James Stewart parachutes in. Larocco and bale were good but these 5, wow. Unbelievable, will God ever produce riders like bubba , Ricky, reed,, mcgrath and Wyndham again. I hope the future stars watch this video and realise if you have determination and love dirt bikes, this is the product that will make people love you for being able to ride a dirt bike more than they could ever imagine. It's called energy that keeps them alive and makes them look forward to tomorrow and most of all the kids look up to you as a hero. They will dream about that and put there every last thought into being like them. That's what you call being a star. Great video, thanks for putting it together. It really made my day

No, But there is a tomac, webb, sexton, 2 lawrence bros, roczen, anderson, barcia which is a way deeper field than in those guys day!!! with deegan on way up the future looks brighter than the past which is great for the sport

I am still so pissed of that Steve Whitelock and FIM/AMA ruined the two strokes. Unbelivable how much fun it was to see them ride these two strokes because pushing them required more skills. Honda - Suzuki - Kawasaki wake up and start produce them again!

Seeing the way Super-X used to be when 250cc 2-strokes where the normal race bikes makes me sure the 4-stroke has ruined indoor moto-cross........its time to beat the the dog and go back to these kinds of , tite, close, curvy tracks,... They hold a lower average speed, have higher jumps, and are really more impressive and entertaining to watch..... At least racing survived till 2006 or so......

As a mainly enduro focused fella just getting into supercross, the fact that they have gone away from two strokes hurts my soul. I want to watch new supercross races with 2 bangers! Also I have a hard time deciding whether to root for RC or Reed.. RC is a fun rider but I'm Australian and so is Reed. RC is my choice so far!

Seeing this and Ricky's compliments to James, I really think that a lot of Reed's issue with Stewart at a certain point was jealousy and bitterness towards Stewarts natural talent. He didn't like losing to Ricky, he saw Stewart as more of the same. A guy that prevented him from being at the pinnacle of the sport.

There was also Unadilla, (I think in 2002), with James on the KX125 winning the championship against Chad, (who I think was on a YZ250 4-stroke at the time.). Chad was not getting good starts with James doing so and winning, and he said, "I can beat him if I can start with him." So at Unadilla James was in the lead about the half way point, with Chad a distant second after working through some pack again,---and James slowed down. He slowed down to let Chad pass him, then James passed him back and left Chad behind. David Bailey was the pro commentator and said, "Man, that is such a mental blow, Chad will never bet James again." In a post race interview James said, "I kept hearing that he could beat me, and I just wanted to see if it was true.". I could see how that could sour Chads attitude toward James for the rest of his life. But that racing. :)

Short memory though, and he was a commentator in the 80's. 83-85 for example, Hannah, Barnett, Bailey, O'Mara, Glover, Ward, Lechien, Johnson, Howerton, ---did I miss anybody who won a championship?

Type in "Wild Magoo" on YT. Documentary, and good. One film has some sound missing, and the other (in segments in order I believe) does not. Great footage of the fearless man in action too.
