my father was born in Scotland. As a little boy my great grandmother kept telling us to never forget that you are a direct descendent of Rob Roy McGregor
Personally I think she's trying too hard for what is a simple folk song . Although not a good copy, I much prefer the 1975 version by The Corries, written by Roy Williamson of that duo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vyx1xeZo_tk.html

That picture of the four young soldiers has made me realise something I always say the youth today what went wrong this that and the other but oooking at that picture they aren’t so different after all just 4 mischievous lads like any kids there age today only difference being their future or more than likely the lack there off
I had forgotten about Barbara singing this and it brought back so many memories and a few tears. One of my old favourites. The photos were well chosen and perfect for the music. Thank you, I will return.
Flower of Scotland was written by Roy Williamson of the Corries sometime around the mid/late 1960's. The song was adopted by the Scottish people as our unofficial national anthem many years ago, and is sung with great pride and passion by Scottish supporters at sporting events, particularly rugby and football matches. Roy died in 1990 at the age of 54.
Wow...this is the best rendition of Roy Williamson's famous anthem of Scotland. I remember hearing it first at Lansdown Road as Ireland and Scotland played for each Country's Pride, many years ago now (early 90's before 1994 for certain) and Roy would have passed on by then.
No one does this justice like Barbara. Makes me wish I was Scottish.... must check up on Ancestry surely there must be a Scottish great grandparent somewhere lol x
Just found this sone tonight and listened to it as an unofficial Scottish National Anthem. We never find many songs of Scottish heritage and I'm so happy I took the time to listen. Beautifully sung and thank you Barbara Dickson for posting!
