Ms. Walters was a Pioneer. What a long and succucessful run. Two pros sitting down for an intelligent conversation. Priceless. Thank-You for sharing this terrific segment.
I'm 54 this month and these are two people that I grew up watching and admire so much! I hate to sound old but I just don't think there will ever be anything like them! I know it's a different time and everyone gets a talk show and there's the internet which I love also but these two had class and integrity and it was nice not having cell phones and social media! Just to enjoy moments like these.
RIP Ms. Walters. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 That was an awesome interview. Ms. Walters has a great sense of humor, her timing is impeccable, very articulate and intelligent. I never noticed that until now watching this episode with Mr. Carson they really both hit it off. So genuine and entertaining.
I really miss Johnny, he was the best late night show. I was seven when he came on the Tonight show and I would sneak out if my room to watch it when my mother had it on. Anyway Rip Johnny and Barbara
She sure lived a full life. Notwithstanding the fact that she opened the door for women in television, she was also one of the best interviewers ever. RIP Barbara.
Love how The View panel had Oprah and 29 women anchors pay homage to Ms. Walters on her last day...great group photo of them.💯💞👍 Wow this came out when I was 20 years young--I'm 60 nowadays 🙂.
When I was still a youngster my Mother watched Barbara Walters every morning on the Today Show. She has been one of the most highly respected media ICONs of the modern epoch, and deservedly so.
Her contribution to broadcast journalism is extraordinary. Her opening doors for other women to enter the field and in many incidences succeed is legendary. Truly a life well lived .
And started "the View". I wouldn't call that an accomplishment. And talked down to people during interviews and treated them like trash? I wouldn't call that an accomplishment.
Barbara Walters had the ability to make you feel like you were just listening to a regular conversation she was having with somebody much more than feeling like it was an interview. A true Talent she had. I missed seeing her interviews and hearing her opinions on things when she retired. What a legacy this woman lives behind.
I grew up watching her on TV. Waching her coming home and my dad watching the news. She also did the Macy's parade too. She will be missed very much. RIP Mrs. Walters
It was interesting in how she imitated tap dancing , regained her Barbra Walters composure then said "excuse me." That's as close to an off the air Barbra I have ever seen. I'm sure she was a sweet lady in her own way! I never watched this segment.... I have a new respect for this charming woman! -keith
A sophisticated woman of elegance. 'Always a lady', she seemed. Soft spoken, gentle, calming. Viewers felt at ease, her interview guests it seems found sense of ease, comfortable.
Oh yea....she sure was a great subject for SNL. Barbara Wawa as my mother used to call her. Now that she's dead, people have already forgotten how controversial she was about 35/40 years ago.
Awe, rest in peace and eternal love Barbara. The last few years of her life spent in seclusion does not define her legacy. I think her retirement was not what she wanted but felt it was something she had to do. Keep doing what you love until you no longer can. She has so much more to give us and she loved being around people. I wish she didn’t retire and I believe she too regretted it.
“Reunited and it feels so good.” Rest in the heaven you beautifully imagined, you 2 Angels. Thanks 4 helping change/shape the world in the ways you both did!
@@dbuzman I appreciate your time and insight on your opinion! I will admit, I don’t know her personally or even in depth, but in the end, none of us are perfect, and who knows what type of healing she may have done in her own personal time? Either way- I’m not the one who created what comes after this go around, I’m just part of the ones on the journey, alike both of you kind folk sharing your opinions. So.. I do hope she’s in a better tomorrow, after her permanent today. Have a great night you both! Bless you and urz! May the universe bring you what you may need 2 assist your lives in whichever ways you may need. 🙏🏽🪬💙😊 Happy New year! Thanks again 4 your time!
@@nikkix2896 I'm Catholic. Which is the ORIGINAL Christian faith that Jesus started. It takes a little more than simply accepting Him as Lord and savior. One must do good works here on earth. Confess your sins regularly. Do penance for your sins. Go to church. Most importantly, you must die in a state of Grace.
@@dbuzman Plus she was Jewish. I have known many fine people in my life of the Jewish faith so I hope God does have a place for them in Heaven. But with them denying the revelation of Jesus Christ as the messiah, I just don't know. But yet, its not my place either.
Wow... I remember watching Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs and loving them. I always knew one day... she was such a fantastic woman. Her net worth when she died was around 170Million dollars.. INCREDIBLE! R.I.P. Barbara and thank you.
What are gracious lady.......great job Ms Barbara.....thank you for so many wonderful years.....RIP God rest your soul....condolences to the family........Johnny...be a shepherd....LOL......miss you too
@@sharona752 Ya know, I looked and I can’t find a comment from you anywhere. Why don’t you comment instead of sniping? Let’s see how brilliant you are.
Barb's interview of Carson was very good, I recommend you look it up. It's from 1984 I believe. After you watch it, look up Carson's interview with Mike Wallace on 60 minutes from 1979... Talk about a tale of two Johnny Carsons! You won't be disappointed👍
Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them,
I liked that, within the first three minutes of this, Barbara calls Johnny a BLALLBERMOUTH!!! 🤣LOL🤣 Barbara. And R.I.P. dear lady. A lady of class and grace.
Yes..93..time goes fast.. Today is the day of salvation John 3:3 KJV You.must be born again Acts 4:12 KJV 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John1:12 KJV 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: MERCY AND GRACE
Barbara Wawa as my late mother used to call her. It never ceases to amaze me how after a really old person dies, people make them out to have been some kind of saint on earth. Those of us of a certain age remember how controversial she was and what a pain she could be 35/40 years ago!
It is true that people’s lives and their character are suddenly wiped clean once they have died. As if once they died all of their bad or negative traits didn’t exist. We do this all the time in our culture. Although I’m not sure how bad she really was to begin with. She was a trailblazer and many times they get bad reps. So I have to claim ignorance on this one. I’m not old enough to remember most of her career.
People made fun of her with that name, which was disgusting! Men were so threatened that a woman could actually do their job, but she forged on and found her own niche. I didn't agree with her on much, but she had an interesting point of view. She was intelligent and you don't find that today. She paved the way for women but I'm sure she was dismayed at the quality of "news media" pretenders today.
Powerful and telling that she scans the camera people, the band, the director and the rest of the crew and finds no women. This was three years before one of Carson's favorite guests, Joan Rivers, got a show of her own, in consequence of which he never spoke to her again.
He never spoke to her again because after standing in for him on many occasions over several years, she left for her own show on another network with no warning to him whatsoever. None. Cheap shot, and I would be really angry and upset also.
@@elizlee8374 she tried warning him many times and like a man, he hung up the phone in disbelief. So sensitive as to not wanting to believe she was talented and had opportunities outside of his show.
I did watch 20/20 & also her specials with celebrities & world leaders & politicians. Sometimes I enjoyed the View. I admired her professional journalist career. At times I didn't approve of some too personal questions she asked, & I felt she ambushed some celebrities & that was unprofessional. Celebrities have a personal life that their fans didn't need to know. She broke the glass ceiling for other women in the news industry, and I admire her for that. RIP aJohhny & Barbara.
A fan of this fantastic lady from the first day I saw and heard her! She was very alluring and assertive! Down Under we didn’t have the opportunity to see Barbara as frequently as today’s technology allows however as soon as I heard her speak I felt mesmerised to stop and listen! She sounded very much like the great actress June Allyson!
She was classy and unique in her own way... All interviews are based on her model. There wasn't a 'glass' ceiling when you're the first and nobody 'dominated' a person that set the standards for Celebrity Interviews. Oprah's interviews are based on Barbara's method.
Man I miss Johnny so much. A real gentleman and such a great interviewer. The late shows now are just so politicized and vulgar I can’t even watch them.
