Did it also come with the detachable ken genitals piece that she took during the marriage and never gave back? I hear it fits perfectly inside her purse accessory.
Easy to turn Ken against Ken but women always work cooperatively and get along with no jealousy or viciousness. Right? Yeah......riiiiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhhtttttttt.
Haven't seen the movie yet, but what happens if there are many other Barbies that want the same position ? So if a dozen other dolls show up and want to be president ?
Haha yeah, it does happen from time to time. But I've never had it where a guy just brazenly smacked my butt like that. Usually they try to be sneakier about it so nobody sees. Side note, the only person I know who actually *did* have someone brazenly do something like that, was when my husband (then boyfriend) had some drunk woman come up to him at a club and she bit his nipple. Everyone saw it, and everyone laughed even though he was shook up, because that's what you do in a patriarchy.
@@Othillde Now imagine when guys are attacked because ..i don't know, some random douchebag is drugged up out of his mind and just decided he's gonna attack someone, just for "fun". Is it bad that woman get harassed? Yes. Sometimes its not fun for us, either.
I'm still waiting for a clear, accurate, factual explanation of the rights women don't have in the real world....something tells me I'll never get that explanation.
@@VTownThrilla They have the right to live in a made up world where they are oppressed victim and empowered strong independent women at the same time you sexist.
@@VTownThrilla there are three explanations: 1. ideology is not based on solid facts, and ideologues suffer an addiction that is impervious to logic and reason 2. ideologies of grievance are based on viewing the world as an inherently unfair place for a particular set of people against any proof to the contrary 3. ideologies of equity (every single left ideology incl. femin%*%) aim to achieve the utopic goal of vastly unequal people within a society arriving at the exact same results
Also he could take said rights by force and he doesn't, speak more about what a good guy Ken is....and at the same time a reminder of the fact that in the real world for a woman to have rights the man must give her those rights and protect and enforce those rights.
Funny how the barbies hold all the positions of power, and yet, instead of providing for the kens, protecting the kens, helping the kens, or even uplifting and respecting the kens, they treat the kens as utter garbage. Why they criticize the "patriarchy" so much, and then portray a woman-only society as being no better, or even worse, than that perceived "patriarchy".
It is worse than the 'patriarchy', even in the movie much less in the actual real world. In the 'patriarchy' women could hold actual jobs, even high level ones like doctor, and obviously go to school. The Barbie world deemed good by the movie is worse than the "real" world in the movie which isn't even remotely close to reality or any point in human history either. And the Barbies are "good" for enslaving a group of people based on gender until an entirely different society magically improves, but only if that society becomes what the Barbie society currently is. So basically an evil tyrant is saying that another society needs to fall into chattel slavery and tyranny and if that society does maybe, just maybe, they will see it fit to have minor social improvements for their chattel.
BEAUTIFUL and GENIUS!!!!! Having movies to provide entertainment to children is TOO OUTATED for modern audiences in this era of PROGRESSIVISM. Props to Warner Bros. for using a well known brand, like Barbie, to spread the IMPORTANT messages of modern feminism to young girls. I am CRYING as I type this, crying TEARS OF JOY for being educated on my male privileges and how women do everything better if they were given the reigns.
Not really. First wave feminism supported WW1, they wanted to send the men to die in the war so they can take over their jobs. It was always about supremacy, it was never about equality. In my country the women got their right to vote in the same time everybody got the right to vote. What happening today is what always meant to happen at one point. But it is not the end goal.
Not in my house. My husband is the head of the household and my hardworking sons are loved and respected by their sisters. Barbie and Hillary can save that woke Feminist cr@p for somewhere else.
Saying Ruth Handler "invented" Barbie is MASSIVELY overstating her contribution. She bought the rights to the German "Bild Lilli" doll, rechristened her "Barbie" (with minor alterations), and released the "new" doll in the USA. I don't care that she made money on the deal, but I hate her getting credit for an idea that was well established long before she came along. That said, I adore Rhea Perlman.
@@savioblanc Not exactly. It was kind of marketed to typically adult men as a gag gift originally, but it's not a sex doll or anything. They'd be the ones reading the comic it's based on that was 'sexy' more or less in the same vein as Betty Boop but Lilli is less innocent and more openly a gold digger. We're still talking something sold openly in the 50s here people. By the end of it's run children would play with them which is why Mattel stepped in and changed it to Barbie.
This movie is literally a deconstruction of its own ideology whilst thinking it is saying something smart about real life. They present the Barbie matriarchy as good, whilst claim the real world is bad despite it not even being a patriarchy. Ken literally talks to a female doctor
That's one of the biggest hypocrisies of the film to me. They wanted a big 'we live in a privileged man world' movie, but couldn't help themselves and just HAD to make Ken look stupid as well, by having a female doctor present. The irony is that it makes 'the patriarchy' look more equal than Barbieland.
"There's no patriarchy in the real world! Ken talks to a female! A female doctor!" Bro Barbie got sexually assaulted and sexually harrassed constantly..
@@MichaelObamaSon You are so dense; this is why the movie is hypocritical; it has to put overt and extremely nonsensical sexual assaulting scenes to push its blatant propaganda, yet when it shows its own side, drops the ball massively, thus deconstructing its own ideology. "Real world is patriarchy despite Ken talking to a female doctor; why? Because of this blatant case of sexual assault and because we portray men in the most ridiculous 'toxic' ways!!!" And then they try to portray a Matriarchy 'seriously,' and it comes off as far worse than the real world (despite them obviously trying to make it appear better). It is a total slave state of Kens, of whom are third class citizens; when Kens take over, much progress is made. You literally point out a scene that proves it deconstructs its own ideology, and yet you think that was some 'gotchya' moment; truly hilarious. So do you now understand, or is your brain incapable of basic level thought? The real world is orders of magnitude better than 'fictional Feminism Land,' and so, to 'alter that perception,' they had to put in such over the top and absurd propagandist messages in 'the real world.' This is precisely how they deconstruct their own ideology; they had to portray their 'opponent ideology' via heavy handed propaganda, and despite this, their own side came out looking far worse. Also, if your definition of 'patriarchy' is 'women get sexually assaulted by men,' then you are brain deficient. Women also kill their own children at a far greater rate than men do; that means we live in both a matriarchy and an infanticide society, according to your logic. Oh wait, I forgot; any time a female feels slight emotional discomfort, then that means she is living in a 'patriarchy.' Women attacking other women? Obviously internalized misogyny! Men competing against men? Misogyny! Men helping men? Toxic masculinity!!!!
I love how Hollywood always takes time to spit in the working man's face. A man who works with his hands is a BRUTE. He built this building, BRUTE. He made this bridge, BRUTE. He fixed this road, what an asshole!
@@dolsopolar The Barbies do performative silly fake jobs. In the real world there's some women employees but they aren't necessarily shown working and they're not laborers.
Yeah it is insane. The Barbie world has literal male slaves that do nothing whilst the women are the absolute rulers, while in the real world, both men and women can have awesome, high level jobs. This somehow makes Ken into a sexist, despite all the barbies being the actual sexists. I bet Greta thinks she made something smart, when it is just incredibly stupid
Same as so-called "positive discrimination": discrimination is positive if it's against one particular social group. If I discriminate you - it's bad, if you discriminate me - it's so great. Amazing.
Well, when I found out that Margot Robbie was playing Barbie, I thought, "How bad could this movie be?" I guess I'm finding out. I was hoping it would go counter to the "woke" culture and really say something, but I suppose I was delusional.
If you had been following Margot Robbie's career for the last few years, you'd know this movie was going to be woke af. The woman keeps playing roles where she is "angry" at the world liking her for her looks
In Canada the Barbie movie has a PG rating. ( in the US it's a PG-13 rating ) So parents get to decide if they think the movie is appropriate for their kids.
It should be rated NC-17. I wish there was a rating even higher than that for “no admission at any age, not nobody, not nohow.” Man-bashing verbal terrorism should not even be protected by the first amendment.
Being truthful, kids would only keep their eyes on the screen just because it has Barbie on it, and wouldn't care about anything else. If your kids can't recall anything besides the character on screen then you've got a bad movie.
I think most of the more crude or adult jokes would fly over Kids heads anyway, but if you aren’t comfortable answering questions, then maybe it’s best you don’t take them to the movie
@@Mandy87Marie i pity the fool who takes his kid to this and of the sudden he get shot in the ear with the question " Daddy, why DR. Barbie sounds like Ken" good luck explaining that in 2 minutes
I actually like cartoons like Totally Spies, reverse harems like Diabolik Lovers and stuff that is designed for girls. But Barbie is simply low iQ pink washed entertainment. Sadly, half of women are in the double digits, which is why Barbie is so popular
I’m not sure if the people who made the Barbie Movie have ever see women skating on the broad walk along the beach in LA but Barbie is over dressed in comparison.
We dont need a patriarchy or matriarchy. We need adults. Adults who understand that some adults cant have kids. Adults who work together. That is what we need.
Isn't it hilarious how barbie is supposed to be an unattainable and unrealistic body standard for women. Yet in the film, barbie is played by a real woman. While Ken is given a body suit/enhanced abs. Wonderful.
The marketing was veeeery clever. You should see it if you love/hate Barbie. Thankfully actors started running their mouths about how stunning and brave the movie was wich discouraged a portion of people of watching the thing on the opening week. Now, after reviews came up, it's up to "modern audiences" not to let Barbie flop.
@vespenegas261 A lot of us honestly thought they were just running their mouths, and it wouldn't actually be a feminist movie. Oh boy, how wrong we were. Wokest film of the decade.
Oi have you seen the movie? I saw it twice in the cinema and I loved ittttttt I don't think it's woke i think the opposite! Its making fun of the fourth plus wave of feminism
@@geeebuttersnap2433 The worst is that doesn't seems SHE is a villain, more like the evil creators of that story are the villains, using the characters to project their hate!
Honestly yeah. I didn't even notice most of the woke stuff since I was too busy rooting for Ken. The movie actually pointed out lot of the problems with the woke portrayal of men. Ken feels underappreciated, he is always second to Barbie, nobody really cares about him because Barbie is better. And then as all the Kens unite after the fight and sing together was a great moment imo. The bro energy was high Too bad the movie goes right back to downplaying them and putting the Barbies on a pedestal.
Then it was all for nothing, which makes it a bad movie. Remake it with a completely different cast, zero TQ+ inclusion/propaganda of any kind, and a victory for the real hero of the movie: Ken. #BoycottBarbie #LiberateMen #LiberateKen
Actually according to some feminist historians that's pretty much exactly what happens when a matriarchal society is faced with a patriarchal one. The former is completely swept away.
@@BiggieTrismegistus Correct. It's biologically stupid to try and have female soldiers protect your nation. And if you let a group of second class citizens be your soldiers 100% of the time one of them will eventually ask 'wait, why aren't we in charge?'. The end result is that in humans men control nations whether explicitly or implicitly (a matriarchy is possible if defended by like-minded men, usually only for a time though) as a matter of biological reality. That said that doesn't make the resulting structures patriarchies, because women tend to dominate social affairs and unlike what they write feminist r*pe fantasies men are actually hard wired to give a shit about them so no society has ever even been close to the Handmaid's Tale.
Time to stage a nationwide protest against this movie. I want every theater, showing it to be shut down along with the studio that made it. Everybody involved in this debacle needs to be arrested and imprisoned for inciting hatred and terrorism against men. #BoycottBarbie #LiberateMen #LiberateKen

@@SewTubular No shit Sherlock. More subtley, it spotlights just how much disdain Hollywood producers and writers have for children, childhood, and motherhood. Guess you didn't catch that.
What's so stupid is how they portray them getting gawked at in Santa Monica. I lived in LA for 9 years and there's so many weirdos there that no one would even give them a second glance much less openly make fun of them.
FYI - Mrs Greta G is also tapped as the leader for Netflix's treatment of the Chronicles of Narnia, if you were hoping there was any property from your youth that would go quietly without being violated
At least they're making it easier to identify which films to skip. They just put their names all over it. Currently on my do not watch list are films written/produced/supervised by: Kathleen Kennedy, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Greta Gerwig, Jessica Gao, Mindy Kaling, Patty Jenkins, JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson, Patrick McKay, John D. Almost perfect... almost. If not by the sympathetic Will Ferrell this movie would have the perfect casting of woke preachers: Margot Robbie Birds of Prey "yeah, it’s definitely less male gaze-y;" Ryan Gosling of denying the U.S. flag for the U.S. achievement of getting people to the moon; Simu Liu the first Asian ever in movies. Kudos to them for being cast in the most anticipated movie of the millennium 🙌
I have the feeling this "smashing the patriarchy" thing is just a big joke now, like: let's make our movie so woke and so misandristic, it goes right back to being funny like "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" But I think I'm giving Hollywood too much credit.

In The End of This Day's Business by Katharine Burdekin, women do everything that men used to do. Men, meanwhile, are illiterate, ignorant idiots who are treated no better than animals. The only reason men still exist is because women can't self-reproduce. The point of the novel was to criticise the idea of a matriarchy, while calling out feminism as a "grudge" against men.
Good thing we have a true honest critic on RU-vid. I thought this was going to be a conservative movie full of blasphemy… Now I know it is a woke masterpiece. Thank you woke critic for opening my eyes, my mind and my wallet to see this glorious movie.

i'm legit upset this movie is that terrible, it had such a easy chance to do well and wastes it, they had all the right elements the irony of Ken one upping Barbie and taking over BY HIMSELF really shows the falsehood of matriarchy in their minds a singular man can destroy everything they built up CASUALLY IN A DAY, that is hilarious - like they self snitched on their own ineptitude the fact the message is keep guys downtrodden to stop them from usurping them again really is telling to how they really feel god this movie is trash
I hadn't thought about it that way, but you're totally right. Makes it even more hilarious that this movie is so dumb and clueless about its "message". They want so much to praise women, that they end up doing the exact opposite.
I think this is the first pseudo-feminist woke movie this year that won’t flop, and that’s because it’s targeted to women. That audience won’t be disgusted with the blatant agenda and may actually think it’s kinda funny. The problem is when this exact same agenda is shoehorned in movies targeted to men…
If history has demonstrated anything it is that women loved being told they are pratically perfect in every way and that boys are stupid and exist only to serve women. Therefore this movie will probably make money unfortunately.
... probably they get a lot of puss behind the closed doors. I mean I never meet more sexualy frustrated women that those working class ... having men at their feet is a dream , no dating, no meetings, no strings , just get the fun.
They were too buck broken into submission to do anything and they end up crying together like (((real men))) do and have to beg the Barbies to give them at least ONE position in their government. Yes, that's exactly what happens in the film.
Men were (and are) honored to do those things if necessary. And women were (and are) grateful and respectful for that, and also help, in their own ways (like heal the wounded, sometimes fight too, make sacrifices, etc), to team up with men for the better of society. But this is a divisive crap disguised as satire. No thanks.
Ok look, I'm a straight regular guy myself, and I am feeling EXAUSTED and almost INSULTED that ppl r going to a point where they close their minds enough to still think this movie is "Feminist Garbage" after watching the ending of this film. I am INSULTED!!!!!!! It is a DISRESPECT to CINEMA. It infuriates me how much pol these days r so obsessed w social media ideologies and memes and etc... To the point that they're willing to watch a FULL MOVIE only to Completly miss what the movie was actually made for, and then, DARING to BLAME THE MOVIE for being something that it's EXACTLY AGAINST. It is DISGUSTING to me. It's like saying that "Beauty and the Beast" is a movie about Jugding People By their appearence, and calling it a "Superficial Garbage". It is EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ppl aren't willing to take the time to ACTUALLY understand and ANALYSE a modern movie with THEIR OWN BRAINS... NO! Society made us tired of wokeness so now less just leave the analysing part to SOCIAL MEDIA. You don't have to be a SMARTASS to understand that this movie is a SATIRYCAL COMEDY, which means, Every polotical subject that it's gonna contain explicitly in, WILL BE A SUBJECT THAT THE MOVIE IS CRITIQUING! IT'S NOT THAT HARD!!!!! U just have to use UR OWN BRAIN and analyse it with UR OWN OPINION regarlessly of what Social Media Reports say. It's THAT SIMPLE. The fact that some ppl r watching Barbie untill the end and can't understand that it's a movie that Uses both Feminism and Patriarchy, to MOCK IT, while the movie is MORE THAN EXPLICIT abt it, Genuenly BLOW MY MIND!!!!!!!!!! It actually makes me feel quiet Hopeless tbh. It males me feel like us Humans in General are becoming the most DUMBASS BEINGS ON EARTH bc of having everything Too Easy for us. It's insanely FROSTRATING how some ppl just CANNOT appreciate GOOD CINEMA just bc of the Times it's being made (A.K.A. Barbie). And yk what, I hope this movie makes a WHOLE LOTTA MONEY, I hope pll who watched it amd liked it will rewatch it countless times (I for sure will) and I hope it gets TONS of Oscar Noms and WINS majority of them. Maybe it could make some ppl actually give it try and use their Brain-Cells, without Social Media Influence. I actually expected ppl to finally stop being pessimistic abt cinema with this movie, that they would actually see how good cinema STILL EXISTS and how AMAZING it is, but no, what was I thinking, silly me! Agreeing with Social Media Moovements is more important. If this continues going on, one day cinema will End Completely, and we're gonna look back at this time and see all the amazing movies we decided to SHIT ON, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT, like this one, and we'll say "Well, those were actually pretty good movies. Those actually made some history!" But it will be too late, bc we didn't enjoy the last good movies while we still had them... Why? Bc SOCIAL MEDIA CREATED A TREND MOVEMENT AGAINST POST COVID MOVIES😑😑😑😑😑
Oh, come on. Please don't tell me you've missed the obvious satirical layer of this film... The ending makes it clear that the way Barbie Land functioned before the "Ken revolution" wasn't perfect either and that there should be more balance in their society as well. And the final scene was hilarious, it summed up how much of a satire this whole movie is.
They are following the toy line pretty accurately. Think about Ken, he’s just Ken. No astronaut Ken, or Policeman Ken, or even daddy Ken to pregnant Barbie. 🧑🏼 When my cousin played with her Barbies, I brought out my G.I. Joe, he beat up Ken and bedded Barbie. 😂
It could be a funny story where Ken try and fail to be something more. But they HAD to hit uou in the head with the whole "patriarchy" thing and non subtle speeches about frminism.
People saying this "isn't woke" are the same people who still think The Boys is a show that's neutral and "mocks everyone". And that, everyone, is how Hollywood keeps on winning even with all of its definitive losses lately. They'll always find a way to game the audience and pull them back in... either through deceptive marketing strategies or a false version of "subtlety". They'll poke fun at themselves only to feign self-awareness and to devise a shield so they can say exactly what they really want to say. Seeing the long line for Barbie yesterday just made me lose even more hope (how little left of it anyway) I had for humanity.
They literally showed a woman doctor in the real world, Ken talked to her. But the movie is so dumb that they didn't even realise their contradictions (nor the hypocrisy)
@@ChocolatePink29 I was thinking about something like that. In the movie they show Ken meeting with the real world female doctor and being bigoted and misogynistic, acting as if he wanted "a real doctor, a man!". But that would be a very unrealistic, if not impossible, thing for Ken to say. He lived his entire life in Barbieland only knowing the existence of woman doctors! As far as Ken knows, only women can be doctors. It makes no sense for Ken to find it weird/wrong for a woman do be doctor, when in Barbieland ALL doctors are woman.
And then Fleabag, Ariel, Wendy, and Barbie all become OnlyFans “content creators” together, and each of them died alone, their bodies eaten by dozens of cats, before anyone discovered them! The (happy) end…
The comic book Ghostbusters: Answer the Call showed what the 2016 movie could've been, and certainly realised the potential of the characters. The women have to face a ghost, who makes them experience their greatest fears. So Holtzmann's greatest fear is to live in a world of conformity and blind obedience. Patty's greatest fear is being left alone, which explains why she needs the friendship of the group. And they lose the first time. The ghost didn't kill them because, as Holtzmann points out, he didn't see them as a threat. The story allowed the women to be portrayed with weaknesses, which they overcome by working as a team. It was actually really good.
That sounds like a story actually worthy of the name Ghostbusters. The movie just gave us queef jokes, the objectification of men, and a pointless extended cut that just makes it longer, not better, with one of the most superfluous, clumsily staged musical numbers since the invention of talkies.
Regarding what happens at 4:46, I would love for the makers of this movie to show me where in Los Ángeles is there a construction site with that many white construction workers. Any one who has lived in LA for a long time would confirm that construction workers in that city are 95% Hispanic. So much for representation. I have to give them credit though for at least throwing in a black guy.
So… let me get this straight? In “Barbie World”, the Barbie’s (or, the women) hold all the positions of power, as well as all the positions period, BUT Ken doesn’t understand there being female doctors? In Barbie World, doctors, lawyers, the president, and EVERYONE are women, but.. Ken is shocked… by a female Dr. Alright. That’s not an impressively gargantuan plot hole at all.
Ken deserves much better than Barbie. They can leave the Barbies with Barbie land alone, while they all move out to the real world to find someone treated them as humans.
For a second, I thought they would do something really intelligent with ken confronting Barbie about equal rights and then ending on barbieland being a place with room for both men and women and working together and respecting both genders after learning neither extreme is right..... Movie; "Nice wholesome message, I'll use it as toilet paper!"
I'm guessing the feminist writers thought they were making a 'stunning and brave' statement at the end by saying they were going to treat the Ken dolls the same way women are allegedly treated in the real world. However, I don't think that messaging is being interpreted by audiences in the way it was intended.
that’s kinda what i was expecting too. they both apologized to each other, but it still feels like there’s this ginormous elephant in the room that everyone is avoiding. even though the real world is messed up, barbieland couldve represent what we could strive for. i would’ve liked that much better, because even though i enjoyed the movie, i left the movie theater with a heavy heart lol. even though ofc it’s just satire, i think an ending of pure understanding and compromise would’ve been sweet.

I've seen Oppenheimer for the 5th time today here in Ireland. I hope to fly to London to watch it a few more times on the BFI Southbank big screen in the coming weekends. Barbie has done incredibly well in white skinned countries. Oppenheimer has actually surpassed Barbie's box office in Turkey, Hong Kong and India. Oppenheimer has also surpassed the box office sales of the highest grossing film in the history of Graumann's Chinese Theatre in L.A. - Star Wars - The Force Awakens. Oppenheimer has grossed $1.5 million after only three weeks, something The Force Awakens could only do in 15 weeks. Its worth noting that Oppenheimer is an R rated movie in the States and elsewhere, rated 15 in most of Europe and thus not released to the same audience numbers as Barbie. Additionally, its an hour, 5 minutes longer than Barbie. Given all of this, I reckon Oppenheimer is the quiet winner of the two. Finally, we have yet to hear if Oppenheimer will open in Japan and we know it will open in China on the 15th of August 2023. Additionally, the film's IMAX run has been extended in some theatres.
