I tried on a Ashby and it wears tight but it’s modern. I can wear a medium but it’s tight a little… need to lose some weight. I like the look of it but the Beaufort and Bedale material is more waxed than the Ashby. The Bedale looks like a 90’s coat. Loose & room for layers. It has a short length and the arms are roomy. I tried on the size 40 in the Bedale but want to know how a size 38 would fit me. I have not found a Beaufort at my local Macy’s or Nordstrom, but I like the looks of the Beaufort. These are good investment because they are quality durable and never go out of style. I’m holding off on a Beaufort until I can try one on in person
For functionality and comfort, The Beaufort has to be the wimner . The poacher pocket is great for carrying a thermos flask. A hat , gloves , scarf , dog lead , tennis ball with lots of space left over . Personally, i think Sylkiol isnt as warm or durable as the Thornproof finish . The Asby looks better for the more stylish younger guys but feels more restrictive.
I bought the Ashby before I knew about or understood the problems with the polyester sleeve lining. Sweaty, sticky, and actually feels colder than the outside temps. So, if you’re like me, tack on an additional $100 to the jacket cost for sleeve lining replacement and maybe some shortening.
Watching this with my Barbour Beaufort on drinking a cold one and a nice cig before bed 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Top jackets got a brown Gamefair as well had 32 yrs plus can not part with it holds to much Memories ❤❤❤❤.
Hi, I was not sure about buying a barbour jacket and after wachting your videos, I went for one. I wanted to buy the beaufort model. So I looked for online because there are few Barbour shops where I live. I was looking for a winter jacket and I noticed the moorland on the website, which is a bit thicker than the beaufort. What do you think of this model? I bought it 2 weeks ago. Now, I have discovered the Bedale winter model. I want them all...
i absolutely hate this polyster sleeve linings, my arms always get inside so sweatty...hate it!! if i knew how this is terrible i would never bought it
Thank you for the video. I personally got the Classic Beaufort. For me it's important that the jacket is made in England and I want to support the workers and the factory there. I also prefer the natural lining. Cheers
Nice video The Beaufort is the better of two hands down,I have tried the more modern ones on and just does not fit right at all. Armpits are way to snug.I am a 42 to 44 size in most of the Barbour jackets, they have a 6 to 8 inch chest tolerance for layering and for arm movement during outdoor pursuits,eg shooting horse riding and fishing. The Ashby is in fairness a fashion jacket and just not the same sadly.Ive worn them since the early 80s and nothing better to be fair. The motorcycle International is another great model they do. I thing you would like that one as well. Thanks for the great comparisons.
Preferences are subjective. I have a regular Beaufort and a Classic Bedale. I enjoy these jackets, both are made in the UK and they both work very well for me. I often use the Beaufort's poacher pocket. If I were to get another Barbour Waxed Jacket, I would purchase a Beaufort Classic However since I generally only wear these jackets in the spring and the fall, these two jackets are enough for me. So, I do not have any need for another Barbour jacket.
Hello, i'm 1 metter 66 tall, 63 kilos. My shoulders are a little bit large. I tried the ASHBY model this day. He fitted well but i'm wondering if the BEAUFORT model ( I didn't tried him ). Could be more versatile. I mean to wear every season with others clothes and jackets under him. I'm afraid that de Ashby will a little tight with sometimes. Being small as I am, I don't like wearing clothes who are too large or too tight. I like when it's perfect sizing.
I just got a Beaufort jacket. Not too crazy about the velcro on the inner sleeve other than for adjustability. Kind of scratches my wrist and does seem as highend as a nice and stretchy soft inner cuff.
@@MrPerrogaton ı think the molds of classic and wax are the same. Right? Well, is size L too tight or fit? I don't want it to be big. Thanks for your answer
@@R-e-o-s sorry, do not understand your comparison. If you really want it slim go better for an Ashby in L. Ashby is the slim model of the Bedale. If you like the Beaufort, because is longer go for the Bristol in L.Is the slim model of the Beaufort. But try anyway XL just in case. Hope it works for you.
I've also got both :D (the same Classic Beaufort, and the Ashby which I actually picked in Olive Green - the only difference with your combo). I think it's worth noting that because the Ashby runs slimmer, it's harder to wear with multiple layers unless you size up, whereas the Beaufort can easily accommodate with thick layers. Not an issue when wearing a t-shirt and a jumper, but the Ashby can be a bit snug with fit knitwear or an extra layer like an overshirt.
Some Barbour addicts here 😂 . You made a smart choice with your Ashby getting it in Olive. The black one I have is a dust collector. I agree that Beaufort is better if you want to layer up for colder days.
