John Mayer is like something that grows and grows and keeps on growing until it takes over everything. His technique at strings, his voice and his amazing ability to collaborate with the best and not seem inferior is just unbelievable. He's something extraordinary.
As a musician. Shame he is such a douchebag as a person. I love his music so I always have to forget the racist shit he said about black women which is such a shame.
Courtney Henley He just keeps growing and growing as musician. From what I've heard from the next record, it will be pretty awesome. But I don't get why people think he's a douchebag? He's incredibly smart and talented and witty and very introspective and self critical. Nor is he racist. But I think he rubs people the wrong way sometimes as he doesn't like the whole fake Hollywood thing, which made him move into the middle of nowhere, to get away from celebrity bullshit He likes being an entertainer, but he also likes to be honest and forthright, instead of pandering and putting on the Hollywood smile and vomit nonsense. That's usually what gets him in trouble.
In a 2010 Playboy interview, John was asked "Do Black women throw themselves at you?" to which he replied "I don't open myself to it. My dick is sorta like a white supremacist. I got a Benetton heart and a fu*kin David Duke c*ck." He went on to describe black actresses that he feels are "white enough" to maybe deserve his dick. Google it.
@@macraeronnie lol yea this one is (if I remember correctly) nickel played for who knows what reason. The vultures strat has only ever been used to play vultures cause why not I guess
“He is a master. I think he doesn’t realize how great he is.” - That's Clapton talking about Mayer. He's such a pop figure that he gets all this noise, this idiot talk around him, but at the end of the day he's simply a very gifted musician. And it doesn't matter who the f* he's dating you know, people are so mediocre it makes me sick to my stomach. And Streisand is equally gifted, she's on that level as well. I mean, her voice and specially what she does with it is just stunning beautiful.
Mayer takes his music seriously and it shows, he always looks like he's having fun but MAKE NO MISTAKE, he's dedication to the music is genuine. Oh, and he can sing too. Crazy how much fun he is to watch.
umm..well he already has produced one totally blues album (Try! with the Trio) and a 80-20 blues record like Continuum. what exactly are you talking about? if you want him to turn around and be Coltrane, i dont think that's going to happen.
Omer Imtiaz Mayer has shown he has the capability of doing almost any genre. He is extremely versatile. So by wanting him to do some jazz I don't think is asking for something outrageous. On the other hand, I don't think he would do a full jazz album.
ojj75 He is going to working on blues right now he has said, but after what I've seen it's gonna be a jazzy blues type of music, and I think, like Hendrix f.ex. when he will grow a bit older, he will turn to the jazz scene! Whatever it is, as long as it's Blues or Jazz I'm 100% satisfied. Anything else I'll be 75% satisfied.
Is it weird that when he walked into the studio, I smiled? This song is absolutely beautiful and the 2 of you together is just genius! I can't wait for it to come out :)
This is gold. You can feel how John has turned the tide and is making these soulful blues songs from now on. Not that I disliked his recent albums, because I love Born and Raised. But Blues is what comes to mind when thinking of John Mayer, and it's great to have him "back".
Babs and John, two inspirations reverberating in my entire life. Two genius, always faithful to themselves. I REALLY LOVE these two. Masters and guilding lights for me.
John's guitar sounds so much like BB King in this, if you didn't SEE him playing it, you'd swear it was BB himself. And I can't get over how Barbra hasn't lost a step at over 70 years of age. Her voice really is timeless. I never would have put these two together, but that really worked well.
Sorry, you would not think it was B.B. King. Maybe the tone is similar, but the playing is completely different, way more notes than king would‘ve played
OMG, I've loved Barbra for the past 30 years, and I've loved John since he beginning of his career. Two of my most favorite singers/musicians. AND, Babyface!! Doesn't get better than this. I can't wait until John does an all Blues and then an all Jazz cd. That's the best thing about him, his versatility. John could play the telephone book and make it sound good!
there's an all blues album with the John Mayer Trio called Try! It's a highly recommended album. I didn't know if you knew this but if you didn't, you're welcome ;)
I love what John said that what his dad said about being on Streisand's record label. That right there just knowing that he didn't have to worry about a thing and his son's career. Very powerful.
I loved watching professionals really working together, seeing how amazing he is. she is a master with her voice. so great of them to let us see them at work. what a generous woman.
It's quite the compliment when you have people like Barbara Streisand and Eric Clapton say that your Masterful with your guitar and or singing, way to go John!!
I was trying to find what it was I wrote all those years ago but it will be what I'm writing today, his music is so authentic and from the heart. And I've always been a Striesand fan.
I don't know why, but I really enjoy seeing these Super-stars having such respect and admiration for each other. It makes them more like me. Personally, I love them both!!
Barbra's vocals are as always at her best. The album is a celebration of her work with the addition of some exceptional talent. But this IS Barbra 's album. I have been a fan since childhood and I have seen her in concert 3 times. Her vocals in concert are exceptional and there is no doubt she is the real thing unlike some crap we see from "new entertainers" who are paid ungodly amounts of money. Long live Barbra the true VOICE
Wow! I didn’t know that they sung together. I just found this yesterday and I’m still thrilled. I love JM and Barbara! Their harmony is amazing and didn’t know that John sings Jazz that beautifully.
Streisand who has only ever surrounded herself with the very best in the industry was mesmerized by that solo, JM is one of the best guitarists to ever record music.
I’ve seen videos of John where he kind of looks unkempt if you will but not this one!! It is really a once in a lifetime chance to get to sing with Barbra!!
This one really worked. Sheer brilliance to bring in Mayer to pay homage to the awesome electric guitar used in her original 1979 recording on the Wet Album ... very cool!
Mr. Meyer. The song you. Sang..with Barbara Streisand was. Brilliant. And. Mr Meyer the. 🎸. You. Played. On Barbara. Streisand. Album. Brilliant. And. Masterful. Done well and you. Are. Great guitarist. Of . All. Time
