Explaining why I chose a Barcrusher over Surtees, Stabicraft and Yellowfin (for the SECOND time). It was a VERY close race and unfortunately I can only own ONE BOAT so the decision was very very difficult!

Great vid bud, i have come from a Surtees, fished in Barcrushers and am now waiting on a delivery from Stabicraft. I didn't consider Yellowfin as i believe they are not in the same league as the other 3 boats. My reason for going with a Stabi was for its stability not only at rest but whilst under way, the other 2 boats with sharp deadrises list way too much for my liking, border line scary especially in a following sea. The next big selling point was their ability in a following sea is outstanding and how can you beat that game chaser transom especially the work space around the bait tank/cutting board, Fantastic when your backing into current to hold your marks when dropping baits down to kingies or deep dropping.You are so correct in the fit-out side of things how barcrusher look like luxury, stylish and very effective fishing platforms. The Stabi in the eyes of many is not an attractive boat with its pontoon design but i actually love the look of them, All 3 boats are fantastic platforms but stabi got my money this time round.

@BaitBallin 3 года назад
Yep can totally understand that. Love the stabis! Yes a deep vee hull without reverse chines definitely is a bit tender underway. You notice it and must constantly use the trim tabs and it's easy to get it wrong. Yellowfins not even close. They should be way cheaper than what they cost for the quality of the product and poor design and ergonomics.

My mate has a edencraft platinum 233 formula hardtop their best boat to date the surtees reminds me of it .they tend to lean more especially in turns but once you get used to it and I gotta thank bait ballin for the trim tab video the boats rides much better now .twin motors keep me ass heavy so the bow is never low. Trim tabs help keep my bow lower. I used to lower the trim on my motors to keep my bow lower which caused prop Torque and digging . Now I learnt using trim tabs I can set my engines at planning keeping my ass end higher and bow lower . Havent had a issue since with digging with my hull.Stability is no problem in the boat. Maybe the smaller boats are different .
@BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 3 года назад
Nah dead right, all boats seen to ride a bit bum heavy and most people don't think of using their trim tabs to help the ride. Yep love the edencrafts! Yeah I've also had many glass, reverse chine boats which were awesome, bit harder to handle at ramp etc and I did run my last barcrusher into a rock so now I am paranoid!! (Held up amazing, perhaps even saved my life) story for another day

I 100% agree with everything that you have said. I purchased a 615 HT a few weeks after you posted about your boat and it made me more excited to receive mine. The day after I collected it, we went out on the water and it was amazing. My wife and daughter who are afraid of being sick on water, did not have a problem and loved every bit of it. The work and effort that Blakes Marine and Bar Crusher factory have both put into their boats go unnoticed. Enjoy your boat! 👍🏼🛥

Great vid my friend I haven't purchased a boat yet. I thought the cuddy cabin in the yellowfin is good because it provides privacy if you install a toilet and also better sleeping quarters. Thanks for the heads up on yellowfins welds it will be something ill be looking at. Cheers for a great vid bro 👍

I have a yellowfin and think your video is very fair and unbiased, its the newer model and has better protechtion then the earlier ones, the self draining deck comes in very handy with the fish blood that you get on the floor. The upside to the cabin door on them is that they lock up well for sleeping. The sides are very deep on it and feels safe. Its quite stable at rest. Everything on it feels good and well layed out. We wanted a big caban for sleeping and the yf offered it. The welds arent as pretty as the bar crusher as you said. Butgreaat video and was interesting comparing the different brands.

The old man had a 615 barcrusher we nicknamed it bonecrusher, we had a yellowfin previous and agree on your comments on it, also found the yellowfin got alot of water spray inside the boat. Currently running a AMM boat great boat but just to big to handle by yourself on the boat ramp, by far the best handling but just too big and heavy for just under 7m. Currently looking at a stabi 1850 offshore something a bit smaller and easier to handle by yourself if need be.

Hey man tbh wouldn't be my choice. very hard riding offshore. for inshore and bays etc fine. I watch a couple of these regularly offshore and we know the owners. they cop an absolute flogging in them and have to go WAY slow. Yellowfin is a much better handling boat and probably similar price

@@BaitBallin thanks mate, great tips. Trying to find the perfect all rounder is hard work. I currently have a Stacer & want to upgrade eventually. Fishing comps inshore is still important to me, so that’s why I would love another side console so I have the big casting deck. The build quality & design of the Formosa seems top notch, I would of loved the option of a bar crusher, but they stopped doing a side console. Will have to look at what the bluefin offers. I'm not sure how you can compare these other boats to the Stabicraft, for me I love the Stabicraft because it's basically unsinkable if I'm way out wide I don't want to be going down with the ship, that one fact on its own is worth more than $10,000

My mates 2019 1850SC rides so rough in choppy water, not sure about those bigger stabi; lack of toes room is such a pain for lower back when leaning against the gunnel; saw couple of posts on facebook that water leak into the pontoons; the boat looks big from outside but inside is really small for a 5.6m boat due to the pontoon design
@BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 2 года назад
yeah absolutely, I like the stabicrafts in the slightly bigger models. but lack of toes under is a serious design floor in my books, absolutely essential feature for inshore reef fishing / jigging etc.

Moderate deadrise will always compromise offshore softness and speed. But if you are happy to go a little slower and deal with a slightly dated design and ergonomics they are offering better value for money now than the other brands..... Which are offering stuff all value for money!!!

The trailer that the boat comes with is NO reason to choose one boat over an other boat, especially if it's something you can swap out like the brake system. That's like saying you prefer one car to an other because of the tires it has. Besides that great video! (2050 Stabicraft owner)
@BaitBallin
@BaitBallin 3 года назад
Agree, all comes down to cost though... By the time you package up a 650 with all the gear including a decent trailer, value for money didn't stack up. I also looked at the 2050. All very good boats 👍

@@BaitBallin Your analytical ability for boats is second to none and unlike boat journalists you are refreshingly honest when you give your opinion. As you probably be aware they are very popular in Northern QLD.

Hey Peter I really appreciate your feedback, I try to keep my videos very fact based even though they are obviously made up of my own opinions and experiences. Unfortunately I have very limited experience with poly boats, only been on smaller models 4m sort of size. In the smaller range they are certainly fit for purpose and do well, on the larger sizes whether they have the hull weight, deadrise etc would be the question. Shape shouldn't be compromised due to the material used (endless possibilities).

Paid or associated. no need for self draining deck? What about reserve floatation? Deck below water means sinking when swapped. Physically impossible? Hmmm, many boats sinks at my local bar every year, moutunau island of nz.

@BaitBallin 3 года назад
ran my last barcrusher into a rock at high speed. didn't puncture or sink....thought we were going to sink for sure. also put it in one day without the bung, filled the entire boat with water, bilge pump took care of it. both were very stupid and my fault! I just prefer decent feeboard in a small boat over self draining deck that's all.

Do not agree ,as the 650 Game fisher i looked at to compare was far superior .Starting with the following , superbly built with European 5083 Alloy plate unlike the Chinese5083 Barcrusher uses (THIS ALONE IS A GAME CHANGER) Fully welded stringers in Surtees unlike Barcrushers stitch welded stringers results in the superior ride seen in these vids. Boarding ladder is FAR better built designed and functional on the surtees. Modern and functional transom is far superior to the dated transom Barcrusher copied from Surtees and still uses . No nonsense hardtop with superior visibility , looks the goods as well. Fuel filler located on transom not in cabin floor. 250 LITRE fuel standard. Manual ballast shut off for reliability and less electrics to go wrong. Bait station is A far better design , more functional and less of a hassle like the one on the BC. No gunnel uprights inside to stub your to on. Surtees beam is wider than BC in the 650/670 series and wiring is IMO neater and on par or better. Cheers

Wow is this true the bar crusher is stitched welded internally ? Great points though I like the Bar crusher fit out but I did find the surtees to be that little bit better , and surtees have finally made their fit outs just as pleasing .. I don’t think the European 5083 to China makes a difference but would be the reason why a surtees is more expensive . Makes sense why surtees has 10 year Hull warranty .
@jmatasomo2660
@jmatasomo2660 2 года назад
@@jewyhunter_ Seriously the European 5083 is a lot better as far as corrosion goes and is used by the best boat builders .Suggest people take a ride in a 615 BC , then a 610 Surtees ,amazing difference . Actually the Surtees 650 rides better than the BC 670 as well even though they are the same size ,the difference is the BC outboard pod protrudes an extra 45mm. Just a far better boat all round unless fishing is not your game .
