I love my expensive aftershaves and colognes for special occasions, but for my every day wear I stick with the classics: Monday: Skin Bracer Tuesday: Brut Wednesday: Aqua Velva Thursday: Pinaud Clubman Friday: Old Spice This routine alone makes going to work every day a pleasure.
More than once I've smelled a bottle of Skin Bracer at a drug store and thought, "Ewe, why would anyone want to use this." Now, in my present wet shaving renaissance, I got a bottle just to say I tried it and I love it! Goes to show you never really know what a fragrance is like until it's on your skin.
Thanks, Rich P..:) This falls under my rule of if it doesn't work the first time out, set it aside and wait a couple of weeks, then com back to it. A fresh perspective may just change things around to a more favorable experience.:)
My wife loves the Nivea sensitive balm. I just ordered a few clubman pinaud samplers off maggards to try. I’ll see which one the wife loves. Aqua velva was my 1st ever. Classic shaving scent!
Skin Bracer is my favorite. Strong scent for literally a minute or so and then it's just a hint for the rest of the day. Perfect for day to day use. Such a dull name though!
I've always loved Brut, and that was my main aftershave for years. I really like Clubman Pinaud too, but I have really warmed up to Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer or the new Old Spice scent yet. Maybe they'll grow on me.
Brian, I like all these scents.:) I can't say that anything new I've tried in the bargain category has been off-putting. Simply, there are some I like more than others. Generally, I like 'em all.:)
Thank you! Iv been wanted that classic barber shop smell so i picked up the pinaud clubman and it’s exactly was i was looking for! I have been using skin bracer for years and its one of my favorites.
Thanks Mark - I use these too and like them very much. I especially like a Pineaud product - the vanilla aftershave (vs. the classic) - although it doesn't really smell like vanilla per se.
Was watching a television from 1969 with commercials. Including one for Aqua Velva. I wondered if it was still around. I knew you'd have something of it! I'll have to track it down. Thank you for the program, Mark! :)
I use a disinfectant alcohol which is meant to be used for body and face and a face moisturiser from nivea. I apply my face with the alcohol to make clear of germs and firm then the moisturiser to heal the face it has vitamins and good stuff. in total they cost me 7-8 $ but the ingredients in them are found in high end after shave and the nivea moisturiser smells good. I feel that my face has become much better from these two instead of aftershaves. also they last you a very long time.
Hmm ... I've got the opposite opinion between Skin Bracer and Aqua Velva. I find Skin Bracer to be the sweet smelling aftershave (rather than Aqua Velva) -- in fact, by comparison, almost too sweet. (Not reviewed here, I also find Barbasol Brisk to be similar to Skin Bracer, but less sweet smelling.) Aqua Velva seems (to me) to have a sharp and fresh smell -- and not at all sweet. My REX ambassador just came today. Got it for $200. The shave was kinda rough. Still gotta dial it in, find a good razor / blade combo, get the angle down and all that jazz but it’s a real nice looking razor.
I recently got mine for $200 too. It's the first razor to cut me, I had it set on setting 2 with a Voskhod blade in it. It's a beautiful piece of engineering and machining though.
Love this vid. I stopped using Aqua Velva years ago, replaced with Brutt Classic. Use Skin Bracer for years along with Stetson. Going to try Clubman love that smell.

Missed on Phoenix black Friday Sale.... Do they offer 35% off any other time of year? Never tried them but people rave about it.... In Canada so shipping is expensive and it's over 3x what porasso is. Like to try though.

Hi, Jeroen. I have yet to try it. I like to buy Clubman products at my local Discount Drug Mart here in NE Ohio. I've been waiting for them to carry it. they have bay rum the original Pinaud, etc. I may have to order from Amazon.

As with any of these, as they say,m YMMV.:):) I have to admit, Old Spice is one I don't often reach for. It may grow on me. But I've heard that today's Old Spice scent is nothing like it was decades ago.
@@MarkSzorady Apparently, they were making two versions for a while: 'original' and 'classic,' with the latter being what you want. The top notes from a vintage bottle apparently mellow out with age, but the dry down between today's 'classic' and a bottle from yesteryear should be indistinguishable.
Skin Bracer is good stuff.:) It sometimes gives me a delayed effect which means I had a close irritation-free shave. No burning. Just a nice, lively, invigorating feel from Skin Bracer itself.:)
Thank you sir! I’m full addicted to colognes and aftershaves now. It’s a harmless hobby mostly lol. I just got Proraso aftershave and man is that great juice. I just wanted to see what something was like as a step up from drug store brands but not an expensive luxury one. But surprisingly I like aqua velva ice blue a lot. Gillette cool wave is nice. It has great scent. Pinuad is okay. Not my fave but I like it. Going to try brut and old spice soon. There’s a reason these brands have been around forever.
Mark Szorady skin bracer brut old spice are on the list! Unless your skin is in rough shape you need some alcohol in an aftershave. Helps cuts cleans bacteria etc. you know people’s razors aren’t all in pristine condition.

@@gendale9992 all ages! I do have a great story: I was in church one Sunday and some YOUNG Betty(maybe 15 or 16) was sitting next to me and was SQUIRMING! She gets up and LEAVES church. 10 minutes later she returns smelling like TUNA! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mark Szorady its a learning experience for sure. My son gave me a brush and a hi end soap and I got hooked. The Pinaude was a cheap price so I tried it and a no go for me. The after is a yes , love it. I’m gonna get some of the vanilla. Live and learn. Shave on!
