Welcome to my channel: / stanshappyhour
And welcome to the third instalment of BarkLife - our meander around parks while we wait for lockdown to end and our next narrowboat holiday.
This time we visit Bristol's Victoria Park on the sunniest day of the year so far. Not bad for February.
I used to be an 80s music popstar, now I'm a waterways enthusiast, with a thing for canal boats, canal boat holidays, canal walks, river walks and discovering the gorgeous English countryside.
Thirty years ago, I was in the band The Housemartins, with my talented friends Paul Heaton, Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) and Hugh Whittaker. We had chart success with songs like Happy Hour, Caravan of Love, Build and Me And The Farmer.
But that was then. These days, my happy hours consist of family time - and making films about the UK's amazing waterways. Either on foot or at the tiller of a narrowboat. I love canals, canal boats and canal boat holidays, making films about my time on or near the water. I also love to take English countryside walks alongside rivers and canals.
Usually with my mini schnauzer Mabel and new havanese puppy Rufus. I talk sometimes, Mabel and Rufus don't. But we always have fun and we'd love you to join us - just hit the SUBSCRIBE button (please!)

Loved this. The photography and music were so relaxing. So true, the sense of spring giving a sense of a new start after 2020 - poetry. Agree, the rich b******s stay rich for a reason - not so much poetry. 😉

It's so relaxing seeing all those long stretches of lush green grass. The view from the top of the hill is lovely! Thanks for pointing out all the highlights of Bristol. I've never been so it's great to get a sense of the size of the city, and where some of the sights and green spaces are. And that everyone is so nice and friendly.

Nice timing with Train going by when you were going up the hill the second time. Another great video. I can also answer that they would never be disappointed with vegan because I have never met a pup that would turn down any food.
@StansHappyHour
@StansHappyHour 3 года назад
Now, that bit about the pups is normally true ... but... Rufus is strangely fussy. Bless his cotton socks!

haha, great video, thanks. I've just realised you are Stan Cullimore, bit slow off the mark here, sorry. A band I was in called Sheep supported The Housemartins at the Adelphi in errr maybe 1985(?) and we'd been for a pint in another pub before the gig. When we came back to the Venue at our allotted time Paul the owner didn't believe we were in the band and we had to pay to get into our own gig #fact.

Cheers. Glad you like the vid. Also ... brilliant trivia fact. Mind, Paul Jackson is / was always a one off. BTW - great name too. Obviously, don't remember the gig - it's all one big happy blur to me!

The only good thing about the maze, is all of the information points, surrounding it, as you go around. I had a go on the play area, last week. My arms the next day, reminded me, that I am 43, not under 10...😄
@StansHappyHour
@StansHappyHour 3 года назад
haha - 43! A mere babe in arms... I'm so old I count my age in prime ministers...

Not prime numbers, then..?? Not that I could name the Prime numbers. Ministers would be more doable! 😄

The water maze is lovely when working. But the pipe that brings the water is broken!

Agree! We spent hours playing in that maze when my kids were little.

I am sure you're right. Truth is, it all looked a bit sorry for itself when we were there. Expect it's a different story when it's watered up and there are kids playing in it.

I came here for small elephant and Rufus slow-mo. Stan, do you know the poem from Frederic Ogden Nash, Ode to Spring? "Spring has sprung. The grass has riz. I wonder where the birdies is?"
