Normally, I post films about narrowboat holidays and canal walks.
But.
I'm not going on many Narrowboat holidays right now. So I'm posting films of myself out and about, made on my phone. (So they're a bit slapdash. Sorry.)

Glad you loved the Broads, they are magical. Lovely looking video, but very confusing the way video clips from different parts of the Broads north and south were pieced together. Given the character of the northern and southern broads are so different, you missed an opportunity to distinguish between them. By the way you weren’t approaching Rockland Broad @ 10.25, you were going up Upton Dyke (northern broads). Then the next bit you jumped back to Reedham (southern broads). Good advice about the low bridges and tides.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m sure you’re right about Upton, it was hard to work out where we’d been when it came to editing the video. Sorry about the clip confusion. Our videos aren’t usually a chronological linear record of our trips - mainly because Mike is really bad at remembering which clips relate to which place 😂. But we hope we gave a good overall account of what is a beautiful place.
Great video of a relaxing trip. Are you sure that was Rockland St. Mary? It looked very much like Upton... If so make sure to use public mooring at end on the left, as all those on the right as you enter are private mooring. It's a lovely spot to stay.
Lovely vlog Stan and scenery from what has been my home for last 16 years. Having my OAP bus pass means i get to travel all over and love the areas of Loddon and Beccles. Plenty of subjects for my camera all over the Norfolk County and neighbouring areas. Look forward to more of your travels and adventures.
Great to see you Stan, fantastic video with amazing scenery and wonderful tranquil music, thoroughly enjoyed that 🙌 take care mate you and the crew 💙💙🐶✊
I'm a bit late to this, but looks lovely. Pity about the other accusatory commenter, but the pompous tone as they slam their imaginary door, demanding 'wit and whimsy' is very funny. I hope it hasn't put you off uploading though.
well - if that's what you think, that's fair enough. Each to their own and all that. I did make a short film recently explaining WHY we've changed the sort of films we make - and how we make them. But if they're not for you - that's fair enough. All the best Stan
Bear with my ignorance please, but when you hire these boats do you have to clock up certain hours of lessons on how to operate the boat, and are there river/canal rules?
Thanks for your comment. No hours required. The boat company gives you a quick crash (not that kind) course and then you’re off. It’s not difficult and you pick up steering and locks as you go along. Everything is a lot easier at 3mph! Funnily enough, I’ll be posting a film on this very subject in the next week or so.
Great little video Stan it’s always wonderful to see and hear you no matter what the subject 👍 as a Mod and scooter rider I’d like to see a bit more of you’re bike 🏍️ now that would be good, anyway enjoy you’re day and safe riding from a long time fan of yours ✊🛵✊
Well we like them Stan. Bike looks cool too. Glad you have some boat trips lined up. Will look forward to watching them! I wonder if you’ll ever come down the Fens on a hire boat! 🤔🤞😜
@@StansHappyHour yes. All Part of the Fens. Fox Narrowboats hire from March marina which is on the Middle Level and Black prince from Ely. All rivers connect up. And up to the Nene then onto the canal network!👍
@@StansHappyHour cool. May see you down there sometime. We’ll be moored in fox’s marina in March from April. We hired their boats before buying. Highly recommend 👍
Love the videos and subscribe to the blog(glad you’ve got your gloves). I say keep the videos coming. The wife and i had a walk up Glastonbury Tor today after watching your video.Take care.
Yorkshire before you meet scotland !!!!!!! i think you forgot Durham and Northumberland a distance of 200 plus miles. i know your excited but christ know your geography
I’ve just read it and it’s great. I’m not a reader really… now a podcast is more my type of thing and would def listen to it if you decide to go down that path!!! Hope You’re still going to make vlogs as love them… especially the nb ones!🙏🙏
I would like to do a podcast on substack. Have to wait and see how things progress first. Finding the technology needed to write a blog tricky enough. 😅
My friends and I have been on that very boat a couple of times, except there were six of us and your double bed converts into two separate single bunk beds about 2 ft wide! Now that makes for a smelly morning! We've always gone up to Gargrave rather than through thr Bingley five rise - Saltaire looks incredible from the water. I'm jonesing for another holiday now. Btw, the Lancaster Canal has a widebeam rental too, not quite as wide as the Silsden boats. Also well worth a visit.
Cheers for the heads up about the Lancaster Canal Widebeams. They look great, but their boats are too small for a bunch of blokes. Sigh. Maybe one day...
Brilliant! Not only did you start your substack, you`re also back here. Hope to see you back soon. On a boat, on a bike, in a cabin… whatever it may be.
Awww good to see you back Stan. You’ve been missed. Funny….. was strolling though my you tube folks last night and said to other half I miss your vlogs! One to watch later. Hoping more to come. 🙏👍🤞
