This video is old too. They aren't wearing jackets and at the end, there's a park shot where everything is green. He's probably made a lot of progress. Can't wait to see the results.
The same with Mustie. His channel is so popular because it takes you back to a time before the internet existed and you just went over to your friends house and just hung out.
Thats an enthusiast for you. My dad was the same way with anything 55,56,57 Chevy. He and I restored them for a long time, had a ton of parts, and knew a lot of people. My HS car was 57 Bel Air 2dr hardtop, with a 283 and the original 2 speed powerglide. That was soon replaced with a 350 4boltmain, and a turbo350.
That fella is not very organized with his parts. I would have taken every single one out of there and laid them out mostly so Mustie could see them all. That would have been the respectable thing to do.
Back in 70 my girlfriend's Dad worked for if I remember right a place called Car Craft...in (Redford, Mi ) And tagged a 1970 ( one of 3) (they say there was only 2..had my hands on all 3 of them) a Boss 429 Cougar I think it was tagged as a XR8 Black on Black. Man I drooled all over it......The weekend before they where going to pick it up Company left it out in the yard over night and had the magnum 500 wheels stolen off it. Ford's nixed it Said they weren't buying wheels for it and sent it to the Crusher. So Sad.
Now THAT’S the kind of guy you wanna buy a car from (or anything else for that matter). Meticulous, honest, straight to the point and knows what he’s talking about. I’m betting that anything he did to that car was done right and all of the parts are there and good to go. Looks like a great project, though I’m not a Ford guy I do love the ‘67-68 Cougars and Stangs!
@@larryalexander4833 He's asking $40K for the other car, so I doubt anyone will pull a fast one on him. Knows what things are worth and makes sure both parties are happy with the deal.
Gotta be an emotional day for that guy. Only thing making it easier is selling it to a great guy like Mustie that has the patience to listen and appreciate all of the stories and info. 👍👍👍👍
Thinking she was a "Car Gal. During her brief off camera statement she referred to how nice the sail panel XR7 badging was. Possibly she volunteered slightly older bed sheets in trade for new ones.
No rust, no grease, no leaks, no locked up brakes? Did I open the wrong channel this morning? Seriously awesome car. Wish I could get my hands on something half as nice to restore and use. Awesome gentleman you bought it from, too. Love visiting with people like that!
When Mustie says “I think I’m going to wrap it up here...” that’s a signal to put it on pause and go make another cup of coffee! Nice car and what a great gentleman who sold it to you.
Now that gentleman was just as nice as can be. You can tell he really loves his cars and is so proud to show it off before he sells it. Wish all transactions were like this. Would like to see you two do a build together! That would make his day :) God bless him
Thats a Sweet Car. With not any miles on it. Unreal. That Gentleman is a Really Nice Man. He saves everything. Which is a Good thing. Guys like him are few and far between. Great Car
What an absolute gentleman the previous owner is, absolutely love dealing with people like him it makes buying cars so much better and wholesome, wish there were more of him out there!
This guy is a gem. He kept pulling out parts. I think I would have bought anything he was selling A barnfind with no mice and the tires even were full of air ! I think I would have bought anything he was selling. Glad you got this car
Looking forward to this one. Back in the 80's, my late brother in law had a Cougar XR7. I loved that car. Something new to look forward to. I just got done binge watching the Farmall tractor engine replacement series. I swear, each time I watch your videos I learn a little bit more each time. Thanks for your great work and posting it for us to see.
I wish I still had my '67 Cougar. They are getting big bucks for them now. The seller was awesome and you can tell that he really cares about the car. His documentation is incredible.
30 seconds into the video and loving it already. This gentleman definitely shows his love of these cars. So meticulous in his approach. I hope you'll be able to show him the completed project. I can see why you'd love to "loose yourself" in this one... Just do, to do. No pressure. Just the love of the time spent, and the relaxation that it brings. Chris Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
She's not a basket case, more like a premium model kit started by a master modeler. You gotta just love finding projects like this coming from people like Mike. Top gentleman.
Thank you again very nice. One thing to note. Use clean rages or you will be rubbing oils and containments into your paint. Also use the proper sanding pads your putting finger grooves in your paint. It's always best to wash the surface clean and then use a cleaning solvent before sanding. Otherwise you will rub anything that is on the surface deeper into the paint. Fisheye reducer works but it's always best to reduce the chance of contaminating the surface before hand. Have a great day.
Wow! The visit was as fun as getting the car! I love buying parts from guys that give you a 1 hour plus tour of their stash/museum! My Uncle Hap had a '70 Cougar, but he spent more time underneath it than in it!
Bwuahahahahahaha!!! I kept thinking the same thing. What impressed me was the Amante GT bad engine and Mustie wanders into his hoard and pulls out an engine with cost to him of a seal and carb kit....
She's going to be a true beauty when complete. Back in 77 (Jr in high school) I had a 69 Mach 1 with a 390. My dad called it a 'hoodlum car'. Still looking for one to bring back. Thanks for letting us share the journey! J
I had a 69 convertible with a 351 I bought for $1000 twenty years ago.offered it to my daughter for her 16 th birthday but she wanted a lowered Nissan instead. I sold the cougar and someone stole her Nissan.
All the hard work is done! I had a 1968 with a 390ci . Couldn't get it to not overheat. New radiator, water pump, flushed the block. Finally sold it and later found out it was over bored
Treasure you found there!!! NICE 👍👍 Looking forward to see what you make of it 😍👍 And the guy who sold it, i wish there would be more guys like that. The world would be much nicer then! 😊
When I was in high school I took my mothers 70 Cougar and did doughnuts in a clover field for about an hour. I believe that was the last time she let me driver her car. That car reminded me. Ha.
Looking forward to more vids of this Cougar Mustie! Enjoyed this one - especially hearing all the backstory from Mike! I'm always kinda on the lookout for a '74 Camaro for the same reason - high school car, lots of memories! Thanks Mustie!
