I have to tell you guys about this incident that happened during the 1970's. I worked as a factory mechanic with one other guy, and one wet afternoon, one of the unskilled workers brought in his Vespa which had conked out on his way to work. We discovered that the fuel tap did not shut off and had rotted the gasket on the downdraught carb, so that fuel was by-passing the carb and going stright into the crankcase. While my buddy was making a new gasket, I opened the throttle and kicked it over to expel the excess fuel. Well it started up, and there was no way to shut it off, and it just kept revving higher and higher while we stood back in amazement, until finally the vibration caused the spark plug cap to fall off and it finally stopped, whereupon we refitted the carb and advised the owner to get the fuel tap fixed.

What I would say lads is that the first thing you should buy when you get a lammy is a set of SLUK Clip bridge fitting kit,cheap as chips and a godsend for an easy life when engine upgrades are going to be done

What size engine is in it Scott? My old TV 200 was knackered so I had it bored out with a 70mm Bultaco piston as a 225 conversion (but in reality I think that actually works out at 218cc) happy days buddy 😎

Blast from the past Owned about 8 or 9 Lammies of various vintage Patina recipe looks good must try it on my current project of a Honda c114 50cc mind you Tank will have to be resprayed so won't be all patina paint If you still have the original tank try the vaporust treatment and some old bolts shaken about as an experiment see if it would have worked Chrome bling tank all hidden under the sidepanels 🙂 wasted £££
@CobwebGarage
@CobwebGarage 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for the comment. The new tank is stainless steel. We weren't after a bling finish, just being stainless steel, it won't ever rust in the future. Cheers.

Hi Anthony. My first scoot was a PK50, had it all ready to ride on my 16 birthday, had so much fun on that scoot. I'm not too sure the best place for Vespa parts these days, I don't want to give you the wrong advice, just have a google around I guess. Where are you based in the country? Is there a local-ish scooter place to you? I like using Scootopia where possible, as it's just down the road from us.
