A start-to-finish restoration of a 1991 Craftsman LT4000.
This tractor needed a lot of work, but eventually I got it running. Then I dismantled it and painted all the parts. The finished product came out great!

Yeah really respect him for keeping a clean video. Like I tell other people you got not only adults watching you got children that watch too. And for them to be able to enjoy your content their parents don't want to hear all that cursing nonsense. That'll bring a lot of views and subscriptions down. Or if you keep a good clean content no cursing it's going to be a lot of more people subscribing and watching. God bless 👍👍 Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching. And I think I'm going to subscribe when I'm done here.😊😊

My neighbor from across the street used to have an old Craftsman that looked kinda like this one you restored. I was too young to remember which exact model it was, but he kept it for many years back in the mid to late 90s.

You might try putting some heat on the decals before peeling them off. A heat gun or even a cheap hair dryer helps soften the adhesive. I use a hair dryer I picked up for a couple bucks at a thrift store if my heat gun isn't handy. The decals on this tractor peeled off fine without heat, but sometimes it's necessary to get them off in one piece.

You did a great job restoring that machine , however you'll never recoup the value of your time . I've been fixing this junk for people for over 35 years as a full time job . You didn't need to buy a new carb just a kit with a new via ton seat . They swell up in old fuel and won't allow enough fuel to pass through or get proper float settings . It does the same on Briggs and Kohler engines . At some point you'll want to clean them up and flip them as quick as possible for extra cash . That's how I started . You might want to keep this one as a testament to your work . Your neighbors will catch on quick when you mow with your antique mower . Also that AYP-Husky chassis has been unchanged for about 30 + years , lots of parts .

Kyle, that is one fine looking machine. I call it a 6ft resto. From 6ft away it looks like brand new. I wish I could find something like that to tinker on. If you go back and watch the video, again, when you're checking for spark... the 2nd time I think.... Anyway, you will see spark jumping off the ground side of the original spark plug. As soon as I saw that, I shouted "bad plug" at the screen, but I don't think you heard me. Anyway, loved the video, keep up the good work and see ya on the next one. 👍

It looks great! When cleaning the carb, remove the main jet and clean it. Pop the emulsion tube out make sure that is totally clean. Don’t forget the tiny holes along the sides. You can use a strand of a stiff wire brush to clean the small holes. You can also use it to clean the low speed/ idle jet.

I really do appreciate and love your videos 📹 Kyle!!!!! Kyle sometime you might want to try Sea foam in the fuel ⛽️ tank when the thing is Surging. I use it a lot when I have that problem. It works about 90% of the time and it should smooth right out. I will put about 2 shot glasses of the Sea Foam in about an inch of fuel in the tank. I run it about 5 minutes and then turn it off and let it sit for about 1/2 hour. You will be amazed how good that stuff will work. I know that is quite a lot in that little bit of fuel. Running it cleans the jets and letting it sit really Breaks down the Contaminance and the build up.... I Love the Sea Foam great stuff....

Try a use 2 part mix fiberglass rosin in a gal can and paint it over and on you bare metal decks before you paint them underneath esp,,it sound proofs the deck during mowing and sand damage protects it and it last forever as far as rust protection. You can paint over it for looks,,just a trick of mind, and its sells to the people as well if you tell them at the sale ,as it ll never rust out again anywhere. As it cures out,its getts harder and more duable tougher than the steel its on

You've got to be kidding! That's not a restoration! That's just a repair with a paint job! Restoration means the way it came out of the original factory!!! Watch how Squatch253 does a restoration! He takes every single bolt and washer and nut and screw and every single part off of the tractor and make sure that every part that goes back on is exactly the same as it did from the original factory as much as humanly possible! That is a restoration! What you did is a repair with a paint job!

Thanks for watching and for commenting. I likely won’t be going to the lengths of Squatch253. This 1991 LT 4000 is hardly deserving of the effort that he puts into those classic farm tractors. Considering the resell value of this simple homeowner lawn tractor, I think my restoration was more than enough. It’s all just for fun and to stay busy and to learn!

A rusty fly wheel will stop it from firing

Most knowledgable engine mechanics say rust on the flywheel has no effect whatsoever on firing; rust on the coil mounting posts, on the other hand, could.

Yeah. I was going to list it on marketplace in the early spring. So right now it’s not up for sale. I’m looking to get $500 for it
