Those good old boys will be surprised when that VW is put together and sold for 4x the auction price. Oval window bugs are very desirable.

The 56 bug sold cheap. Oval windows are getting harder to find these days. It look unmolested as well. Rust in the usual areas on bugs can easily be repaired with now available high quality replacement metal/panels. It's good to see our classic VW's get respect in the high dollar collector car world.

I'm a old timer, but I remember back in the day bodymen didn't repair dents with Bondo they used lead.

...Bugs of that age(ovals), and even more so, splits, are fairly rare in the U.S., not only because of age/attrition, but also simply because very few were sold here...Bug sales didn't really take of in the U.S. until after the split and oval were out of production....

The vw and that scooter are my style.

Cool old rag top bug our neighbors daughter had one in the late 60s we used to play in it was just sitting off to the side of their main driveway sat there for years Who new it be worth big bucks ! So cool toys too ! That old Pontiac would’ve looked cool with some fender skirts and a banjo steering wheel and some wide white wall tires !

Cool 37 Pontiac ! Reminds me of the "Christmas Story" 🎄car but that was a 36 Oldsmobile touring sedan.

I thought that was a ridiculously inflated price on the VW until I read the comments. Hope it gets back on the road. There are cars hidden in barns everywhere I guess. I would pay that for a 61 Thunderbird that had not been wrecked and needed everything.

You are correct on paint of body parts Between the parts fender/hood is a welting that is not painted since usually of cloth material. Much like VW fenders having plastic welding between body panels.

Flip the gerrycan over and look at the bottom. If they are dated, that is where you will find the date. I have some from WWII, and one from Korea, and they are all dated.

It used to be four door cars were parts cars for coupes, convertibles, and two door hardtops, but now days they are getting harder to find.

I'm so close to this spot yet so far 😢. I didn't know about this auction with this Beetle. I would've loved to have it for a rebuild. Love it.

As a scale model car collector I would have been interested in getting a closer look at the miniature blue 1949 Ford. It appeared to be in better condition than other models shown.

Nice Pontiac, and Oval Beetle, too! Early Beetles are one of the few "foreign" cars that I have a real interest in. Mileage/odometer reading on something like the Pontiac really isn't even relevant, as it needs a total resto anyway, and even if you can read it, they only went to 99,000 miles...that's one of the few things that has always bugged me about old cars...you would think they would have added another digit at least by the 1960's or 1970's to show true mileage...some vehicles didn't get the extra digit until the early 1990's. I think a lot of 1980's, 1970's, even 1960's cars had a lot more miles on them than people thought, especially if the engine had been changed or overhauled. Back in the day, it was common practice, for car dealers and individuals alike, to claim sub-100,000 mile mileage if a car looked passable as such, and in decent shape...whereas it may have well been a hundred and xxx miles in reality...and if a car clearly had more wear than the odometer numbers showed, it was always referred to as "a hundred and xxx miles", even though it well could have been 200,000 or 300,000. I think this phenomenon is a factor in why cars suddenly started racking up 200,000, 300,000 or more miles once the other digit was added..I know engine tolerances/materials got better, but I believe the odometers themselves revealing true mileage played a significant role...

On that Pontiac at the start, it's another "If only" story for me. Money, room, and time! The usual suspects!

The Red Toy international Pickup that was originally yellow was made in 1947. The company name was I believe Production Miniatures.. At any rate that was the first Dealer Promo Model ever Produced. The Company went on to produce more Dealer promos for GM, Hudson, Ford and Chrysler. The 47' International was the very first promo ever made. An example in excellent shape can bring up to $300.

I know were a 37 dodge is at in kansas it's in Hiawatha Kansas the thing is they can't sell anything but only can trade do to being Indian tride laws so the son likes cheap wine he probably would take 4 bags of wine for trade they also have a 42 ford pickup and a 62 galaxy
