This car finally came up for sale and it was a long ass drive to go get it! What would you do with it? Follow me on Instagram: pCYLgzh6LU... #1961impala #barnfind #dezzysspeedshop
The Chevy Impala holds a special place in my heart. My first car at age 16 was a 1969 Impala Custom Coupe with a 396 big block, turbo 400 tranny, and a positrack rear end that could dig holes in blacktop. I bought it for $300 in 1979 and that car was a beast. Only had a 2 barrel carb, but I still maxed out the speedometer that went to 120mph. Mint green with a white vinyl top and the faux wood paneling interior.lol My mom had a ginormous Kingswood station wagon that she taught me to drive in. Trying to parallel park that beast was a real challenge. It was white so we nicknamed it the"great white buffalo" and it was so big it had its own zipcode. A family with 5 kids needed this size of car to get around when gas was like 50 cents a gallon. Caprices and Impalas were some great cars that I cruised a lot of main drag miles back in the day. My brother had a 1966 caprice with a 327 in it and we cruised that car listening to this new band called the Cars singing about a girl named Candy-O. Those were the days.
Beautiful 61 Impala right there that cars going to look fine cruising the streets. I've got a 58 Impala that I'm currently working on. Also picking up a 64 Impala this weekend too
Thanks man. Classic cars are my life! Here’s my latest find a 1974 Barracuda 1974 Barracuda Parked For 20 years! Will It Run Again? #dailydriverdiaries ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y_s2a9sxHDc.html
Man that’s nice. Impala’s and Caprices were the literal life blood of my family growing up. We owned them as family cars and used them to build a very successful taxi cab business in our small town. They’ve been such a huge part of my life growing up. They will ALWAYS be close to my heart no matter the year.
The 1966 Caprice and the 1969 Impala Custom Coupe both were a big part of my first years driving and cruising. My older brother owned the 66 Caprice and was driving 2 years before I turned 16 and bought a 69 Impala with a 396 big block for $300. It was a ten year old car the year I bought it and got my drivers license. Freedom from being a pedestrian in a small town with my first car, and I drove it home from the DMV on my 16th birthday. Put a Pioneer 8 track sound system with some Crayco 6x9s cranking out tunes like Tom Petty, Bad Company, .38 special, and Black Sabbath. Those were the days.
Of all the Impalas, the 61 model is the one I see the least. While it is the first year of the SS and 409, I feel that it's the most underrated of the 60s Impalas. Very cool find!!
My twin cousin's had two 1961 impalas in the 1980s when no one was even looking at them. They were really cool looking, they sold them for newer car's.
What a great find. Seems to be in good shape and someone had some real plans for it looking at the engine modifications. Sealed up the Carb opening too! Nice of them. Trim is there, interior nice. Finish it all the way, bring it back! I'll be watching!
You got yourself a beauty there , brother ... a 61 is definitely on my bucket list ! I hope you show us what you do with that beauty as I'd love to see her all cleaned up with the trim in place ... I'm driving a 60 Biscayne & just love those old Impalas .
Great video. What a brilliant car! Thanks for sharing. I know the temptation might be to hot rod it, but I would keep it pretty standard - maybe in a beautiful period silver colour.
First time I've visited your channel. The car is amazing. But, what really stood out was how you and the seller were getting along. Right on the same wavelength. Love of old iron, bringing people together. Subscribed!
I have a '61 Buick bubble. Hasn't been on the road in a while, need to get it going! It's rare to find one that rust free, can't wait to see what you do with it.
I actually sold this one and dumped the money into other projects like my ‘69 Caprice 427/4-speed car ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cKDAQGwPAmM.htmlsi=-5vZi5acOfJYqo-M
Well done Dezzy, you da man! Got a 1961 Chevy Impala slant-six (think it's a slant?) convertible all original that has been sitting in a garage for 40 years! It was my grandmother's that went to my uncle along with the house in 1981. Uncle passed, and now the whole estate is in litigation (long story). Hope to get that thang "recovered" before too long; no hurry I guess as it has been where it is for four decades. **shrug**
Damn good find. Just bought a 66 Plymouth fury sport 440 buckets 727 pos chased it for. 3 years. HAaaaa now. She's mine happy as a pig at the slop troff
Yea but always get the nice cars....and you get them going.....more videos of them before and after would be awesome.......but I understand it’s a lot of work doing both jobs..... awesome video
dezzy well I have to admit that I’m also a hoarder and you are exactly right that the first part of letting go of something of your hoard is admitting that you have a problem and I really want to say Ty for saving another beautiful impala from the junkyard
I love your adventure to E WA. I live in Eohrata and I am a car nut too. I have a huge collection of 56 Buicks and your young enough to get these cars back on the road. Best to you always
I have always liked the 1961 Chevy Impala bubble top. They are kinda rare, I have seen very few at car shows. I remember my Aunt and Uncle owned two of them back in the early 70s, one of them got wrecked. I was a little kid then in elementary school. The 2nd one they had they bought for my cousins to drive. I would love to see it after it is all restored, they are beautiful old cars.
You are a lucky man. I had one of these brand new in 1961 and I always loved the car. Best of luck restoring your ride. What would I do with it? I would restore it back to stock, rebuild the entire suspension, with up graded front disc brakes and redo the interior if needed. Then I would drive it everywhere within limits.
When I growed up, our family car was a '61 Impala white with red interior 409 4 speed and a bubble top, my mom didn't like it so she continued to drive the '55 Pontiac Chieftain which was 2tone red and white, awesome car and in '66 got a Chevrolet Impala, traded the Pontiac in and kept the '61 cause was my dad's favorite,,,funny thing after getting rid of the Pontiac the '61 ended up being my mom's favorite driver 😀,,women are funny that way, go figure 😀thanks for sharing and as always ❤"Howdy from Texas "!!
The car caught my attention but then I realized that you were in Washington State I was riveted. Grant county, Grand Coulee dam. I have relatives right there. Looking forward to seeing it cleaned up.
What?! That is a score. I'm seeing a Nova, and Camaro, and God only knows what else at that spot. Wow, man. I do this same thing and I know you fought that load the whole way home...a bit heavy on the ass end with it on there backwards. Going to be a sweet car.
My favorite impala .In my opinion the 61 is the car the ties the all of the 50s and 60s Impalas together . It kinda resembles all of them from that era
1961 Chevy with a bubble top roof, it probably a 283 engine 2 or 4 barrel Rochester Carb, power guild transmission, but a good car back then. Glad to see this young man taking a interest in this area too.
