Oh my word when I first saw this, I thought That is something I couldn't do. But on paper after watching, you and listening to you explain it, I think maybe I can.
I can't imagine tapping this for painting. My guess is it takes a lot of tape and patience - or is there a trick? Very much worth the effort. This is beautiful.

This is the fisrt video of yours I watched. You did a great job teaching! Can't wait to make this one. I have been wanting to make one for my mom and struggled on how to make one. Can I use acrylic paint on wood? I'm new to all this.
You could use acrylic paint but it will not hold up outside. If you were going to keep it indoors, you would be fine. I had trouble with acrylic paint peeling up when I lifted my tape off.
Ok. Thank you for letting me that. Now I might have to rethink the paint. I just have a lot of acrylic paints that I could use but if the tape rips it up I don't think that would be a good idea.

I use to teach classes so I always bought quarts of exterior Valspar or Behr. Some folks use the sample sizes from Home Depot. If I were making one for myself and did not have a supply already, that is what I would use. But seal it with water based exterior clear spar urethane. And yes. I get the paint and pour it into my bottles. I love this because I do not have to keep opening my paint cans and letting air in.
You need 12 blocks both horizontally and vertically for this pattern divide 18 by 12 and that will be the width of each block on the 18”x18”. For the 12”x12”, each block will be 1”.
