MAN I love this show since Day One in 75 when I was just 12 years old. I cried when Jack Soo passed and again with every cast member since. 2024 all of sudden somehow and here's me at 60 still watching. Everybody's gone except HaL and Max. I feel like all these guys where part of my family.
Same. I am 55 years old and love these guys much. The issues are still not resolved in most cases when they are bringing up something political. I love how timeless this show becomes as a result. The writing, acting, seeing familiar faces when they were just starting out (many now famous actors had a small role on Barney Miller).. the characters.. great acting, writing, storylines, I love all of it. They don't make TV this good anymore.
My friend who was still suffering from Agent Orange just passed. He lost a kidney and had tumors throughout his body. It took him SO MANY years to get the VA to agree it was caused by that poison. Decades later. It’s sickening.
Well I can’t help but think that commentary like this show made about Agent Orange and its consequences helped to change things. It is much easier for Vietnam veterans to get help and compensation for exposure to age Orange. “The US government, through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), presumes that Vietnam veterans who served between January 9, 1962 and May 7, 1975 were exposed to Agent Orange or other herbicides if they meet certain service requirements: Served in Vietnam Served on a US military vessel in Vietnam's inland waterways Served on a vessel within 12 nautical miles of the demarcation line between Vietnam and Cambodia Set foot on shore in Vietnam, including brief visits when a ship docked or when crew members went ashore Veterans who meet these requirements are automatically considered eligible for VA benefits if they have a presumptive disease, which is a disease on the VA's list of conditions associated with Agent Orange exposure. The VA also offers a free Agent Orange Registry health exam for eligible veterans to check for long-term health problems. Veterans who believe they were exposed to Agent Orange but have a health condition not on the presumptive list can submit a claim for disability benefits. The PACT Act is another law that expands VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to Agent Orange and other toxic substances.”
Great bunch of guys made up this show . They're all missed ...and TV has never been the same since shows like this we're on TV ....it's a classic that's for sure and never get tired of ⌚ ng it
When there werent many shows on, I remember watching thsi show as a little kids of 7 or 8 yrs old. On a little 13' black and white tv. Its funny looking back on it now, Luger is hilarous.
The effects of Agent Orange on the Vietnamese & their babies was disastrous & still ongoing. Operation paperclip brought many nazi scientists to this country. There are many instances of "tests" being performed on citizens of our own & other countries ...needs to be addressed by Nuremberg tribunals.
Yeah I know I've watched all 8 seasons. They only have 6 and 7 on tubi and the guy that put all of them on RU-vid sadly had them removed for copyright.
I miss "NICK...aka JACK. SOO ITS just NOT the Same, This SEASON, WITHOUT the QUIRKY..NICK at the 12TH PRECINCT WE MISS YOU....Rest in Peace, for YOU, are NOT FORGOTTEN, by anyone ..ESPECIALLY , the MEN of the 12TH
Nick was my fav character of BM. His dead pan 1 liners were always the best of all of them. I agree that the show lost sonething hugely special when Jack passed on.
Wojo was absolutely right. As were the creators of this great series. Since then, the VA has seen the light-to some extent. My husband was on a cargo ship, the USS White Plains, for four years, in and out of Vietnam. Among many other things, they transported Agent Orange from the US across the Pacific. It took awhile to manifest itself, but in 2017 he was diagnosed with b-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, one of the commonest results of exposure to Agent Orange-which they had been told was harmless. Greg got no support from the VA, but he seems to think they are more responsive at this point. He was treated in the Providence system in Portland, OR, with chemo and a stem-cell transplant and survived. He has been cancer free since then, thank the Lord and that incredible medical staff. If you are a Vietnam vet and know that you were exposed, please don’t hesitate to get checked by the VA, or your PCP!
Not surprising...it was a different mindset then, than it is today. A lot of subjects could be "discussed" and no one took it personally and got into a rage of anger, as one takes it personally with a rage of anger in 2024. Our mindsets in 2024, have become seriously degraded and eroded. Just sayin'
I’ve known a few Vietnam vets who have had severe problems with Agent Orange the #1 is being diabetic, one died at 55 and two brothers now in their 70s have diabetes……
I think he did an absolutely terrific job with that role. I think that role was written a little too broadly and as a result was a bit too much though.
My brother was in the Air Force in Vietnam, and was exposed to Agent Orange, and had all kinds of things wrong with him. He passed away at the age of 61.
Writer's are here to keep us informed, whether it's for entertainment or something factual? Either way, I am glad we have them, for education or entertainment. Writer's keep us updated with facts about daily life. Without them, life would be pretty dull!
My brother and I were tested every year by the government for about 4 years in the early 80s because my father was an engineer in Nam. He sprayed the stuff. The VA did eventually give him 100% disability for it it took 28 years.
I helped to take care of a man who had been exposed, he just recently passed, he became unable to walk, without out his legs and hands almost uncontrollable, his cerebellum was shrinking drastically months before he was unable to live alone, he passed weeks after.
@@13mrservon$ 378,000 was the first payment he had 3 other payments since. He is still alive. He has had 5 heart attacks and 3 surgeries but he is still kicking.
You could have named him after Bernard "Barney" Sumner, of the bands Joy Division, Electronic, and New Order... But at least you didn't name him Dolph Ziggler... He'd likely be forgotten by now (13:54). 😆😂
At 9:15, Wojo is worried about the fallout from 3-mile island, but what the engineer explains is partly true - that there were safeguards in place in case of something going wrong. Chernobyl was a case where they did not have enough safeguards and blew radioactive clouds all over.
Don't know their names but the one talking to Ron G, I believe I saw him on an episode of WKRP? Also, the character talking to Wojo, he was in a Peter Seller's movie
Thank you for posting these Barney Miller episodes. Would you please explain what happened to Part 5? It seems to have been part of the playlist, but it's "unavailable" and hidden. Were there copyright issues with one of the ads? Thanks.
A classmate married her high school sweetheart. He served in Vietnam. I was told he was dieing at our 10th class reunion. He was exposed to Agent Orange. He left a widow and 3 children.
Interesting debates about nuclear power. It all boils down to this as far as nuclear power safety goes: • Nuclear fission = inherently problematic • Nuclear fusion = inherently safer I’m uncertain why nuclear fission was chosen over nuclear fusion. I think the basic reason is that we understand how to make nuclear fission work better than we understand how to make nuclear fusion work. The path of least resistance was chosen. Search this information to see an article on nuclear fission versus nuclear fusion: What are the effects of fusion on the environment? IAEA For information on why we don’t have fusion power plants yet, use the search words: Why we don't have fusion power plants yet, and what it'll take to get clean, limitless energy to market business insider
I never understood why Richard Gere took no credit or even took the part of Dorsey on Barney Miller cuz it was a terrible part. But I guess acting is acting for an actor. Work is work. It was either that or go back to waiting tables
Some of those commercials are linked to the airing of the Barney Miller show… Whoever posted this obviously recorded it with a VHS tape and then uploaded it and left the commercials in. You can fast forward through most of them, and the funniest one I saw was an advertisement for a “blackberry phone“.
This is when TV was TV when truth was truth. When reality was real when speaking your mind was an acceptable constitutional, right? This right here is the downfall of all that says when everything changed
