Baron 58 Landing on a SHORT Runway 2800ft (Trees on Final)

Sitting right seat in a Beechcraft Baron 58 during a challenging approach and short-field landing at the Put-In-Bay Airport (3W2) in Ohio. This small airport is located on an island in Lake Erie and features a 2,800 foot runway. Factor in some tall trees on short final, and that makes for one hell of an approach! We were one of only two multi-engine aircraft to arrive that day. Thanks for watching!

20 years ago, I used to sit on the park bench by the run-up area for Rwy 21. Honestly, it was so fun and so close to the planes. probably different now. Oh, you had plenty of runway left..

My dad used to have one of these. Chuffing quick and really good fun! Flew it a few times, solo from Bournemouth to Turkey for scrapping. Had an engine failure on its last every final, good send off, lol.

I live there and in the winter they have to have air taxis take people over and when the conditions are rough it’s definitely a challenge.

Great landing, i like how you can have a good approach speed and that the B58 slows down so fast before flare when easing on the throttle, cant really do that in sim but then again i know its not as easy as you make it look here. In sim even the best tuned B58 payware is massively unrealistic on short final to touchdown, i could not make a sim landing like that. I really need to get up in a real B58, i want it so bad that its hard to watch videos like this.

U gotta use the props speed control. This plane really responds. Keep fuel weight to minimum as needed. I've done this on the sims many times. Superb airplane.

Question for you. I'm not that familiar with SOP for piston aircraft, so is it normal to kill the engine with the mixture, instead of turning off the magneto(s) or cutting electrical power?
