What makes Zemo unique is that he's a villain who is trying his best to stop others from becoming villains too. But at the same time he knows that he is a villain so he wants someone to kill him to stop him, he even tried to kill himself too

he is more like an anti-hero, and death to him means very little. he has nothing holding him back, and no family to go back to. he only has his "mission", one was to turn the avengers against each other, and the other was to end "supremacy" within these super soldiers at any costs necessary. he was ready to off himself near the end of civil war once his job was done, he has gotten vengeance for his family, and can peacefully join them in the after life.

@@grahamhill676 zemo just planted a bomb at the UN and let it set off to frame bucky. he did not specifically target anyone, and you are right. he did kill innocent people. however, he does not take joy in killing the innocent, but rather, he sees it as a means to fulfill his motives. just like the avengers, the heroes in the eyes of the rest of world, they leave innocents dead in the wake of their battles. dude is exacting his form of justice, and he goes after those who have very little hope in stopping. i believe this TV show has shown us how disgusted zemo is regarding the power loophole of specialized humans. he was willing to kill the super soldiers, whereas sam and bucky was still wavering about this whole situation. zemo has guts and determination that many true heroes do not have.

@@augustjim You don't think it's just a bit ironic that he hates the Avengers for getting his family killed yet he's killed family members at the UN. Sure, you could say his ends justify the means but he's more of a villain or anti-villain than an anti-hero. If we only had Zemo from the series yeah he's an anti-hero, but nothing he does will wipe away what he did before. Deadpool is a great example of an anti-hero, he's destructive and mean, but he doesn't kill innocents to achieve his goals. That, imo, is the difference

@@grahamhill676 well you are making some sense, zemo does also share traits as an anti-villain. zemo truly believed that the avengers and the rising supremacy in super soldier's was a necessary evil to stop, with whatever means necessary. he has this discussion with sam and bucky in episode 4. wasn't deadpool introduced as an anti-villain before we knew him as the anti-hero today?

Zemo isn't evil "His ways are different but he did what needed to be done." This is the influence his character had on me after 5 episodes of TFAWS. I felt his pain while watching this video. Probably one of the most perfect Characters in the whole MCU..🔥🔥

Zemo isn't Lawful. Zemo isn't Evil. Zemo is the one people fail to understand the most. Chaotic Neutral. He has a purpose. His purpose. He has reasons, that are justified and understandable by both sides. However just like any driven man, if people from either side get in his way, he will remove them to achieve his goals.

I'd say more Neutral Evil. He doesn't care about creating some chaos if that suits his objective, but he does have a generally orderly mind. He'll kill people, anybody, if that suits his objective, but he'll try to keep it to what he sees as a minimum. He doesn't care for law or chaos especially, just achieving his goal.

@@lilfred4075 I think Bucky is the most broken hero. Bucky killing Tony's parents made him Ironman. He had to take over his father's company and legacy. He also didn't have his mother to tell him to stop when he needed to.

So true. Ultron tries the axact same thing with lasers, the ability to fly not mention made of vibranium and for all that he failed. Zemo succeeded where ultron had every advantage to succeed not with super strength but with his mind and his intelligence and thats what makes him such an interesting villian

I love his character. He’s smart, person with a compelling background and understandable motivation. He lost it all to people so powerful that in his eyes they took everything from him with no regard. Now he’s focused on stopping others from growing to those heights, even if those are a bloody means He views himself as necessary evil a true Machiavellian (he was literally reading the book)

He has a problem with the concept of supersoldiers and understand that Steve Rogers was the unique snowflake produced by a perfect storm and that the odds of creating one captain america would still result in a million red skulls. Hence why super soldiers cannot be allowed to exist.

He crossed off his name on Bucky's book. Look at this man. Zemo. A man with no superpowers of phenomenal abilities whatsoever who singlehandedly orchestrated the fall of the Avengers, who also killed the former king of Wakanda... ...and yet repeteatedly demonstrated no hostility towards Bucky and Sam, outside of the occasional witty remark. He apologizes to Bucky as soon as he sees him in the 2nd episode..

He didn't even really set out to kill the king I think...more just set the bomb walked away and was willing to let the dice fall where they may...sure that the Wakandan's would hunt down Bucky for him just for the attack alone.... That's not to say he would have called off the attack if he'd known in advance of it killing the king such was his resolve to see the Avengers cast down... He clearly took no joy from hurting innocents...but was willing to do so should that be the price to be paid to see his task completed...

I think he crossed off his name on Bucky's book because after seeing what Bucky has done ever since they started the mission together, he truly believed that Bucky has changed and is a new man now. With that, he knew Bucky would not kill him. Also wanted to add too is that when they met again in episode 2 Zemo called him Seventeen. That's because he still saw him as a brainwashed killing machine. Now as they bid farewell Zemo calls him by his real name, James. This confirms that Zemo knew that he is himself again and not the Winter soldier.

I'm so happy they didn't just made him another HYDRA agent who has an obsessive desire to kill Steve Rogers. He's on the different level of complexity in the MCU, his morals and code are what made him special. I loved him since Civil War after her dropped the lines "To see an empire fall". In that moment I already know he's not just some kind of angry man who wants revenge on the Avengers. He has his own beliefs that gods among men cannot exist because they only bring greater destruction than actual saving. This is such an amazing edit of Zemo's character 😭 you highlighted his best moments and iconic lines. I love it!! Thank you for this ❤️

In FWS, Zemo mostly seemed a different person from Civil War. However, in the two scenes where he looked at the Doctor, and held the serum, you could see the mixture of emotion in his eyes. All that grief and rage came to the surface. Daniel Bruhl did such an amazing job portraying him. Hope we see him again.

Zemo constantly tries to kill himself, but no one will let him. Imagine being that good at a terrible job that no one will let you die. You can see the pain in his eyes of losing his family and his need to stop people from feeling the same thing.

I don't think I've ever liked a Marvel villain this much. This video really hit home how amazing Zemo's character is being written. When I heard Zemo was going to be part of the MCU I envisioned the tyrannical power-mad Red Skull sidekick in the old Captain America comics. I was so happy to be wrong.

That's why sympathetic villains make for some of the most beloved and interesting characters. On a long enough timeline, this guy could easily have been an ally. He's not but a few key decisions away from being a protagonist. Also, despite his relative lack of power, he's found success where other, far more powerful beings and organizations have failed.

They way they're writing Zemo now, and the way Daniel Brühl is playing him, he seems more a chaotic neutral character, trying to serve his own interests while not going out to try to start any fights. There's not been a ton of that in the MCU, but when they show up, they're always brilliant. Think Yondu. Anyway, definitely a favorite now.

He’s always been one of my favorite characters and villains, but now he’s my #1 favorite character from, well, anything. And that was before TFATWS even started, I just got so excited to see him back!! I’m so excited to see how his story in the MCU continues. This editing is beautiful, it drives all of his points home and really helps you understand him, I love it. And that ending, ahaha yessss

Damn...there are edits that just take good footage from scenes and string them together, and then there are edits like this, that not only summarize but frame certain scenes in a new light and context. This was an incredibly well made edit. Thank you🙂

Beautiful video. I sometimes forget that he lost EVERYONE, and that he attempted suicide in civil war. When Bucky pulled the trigger of the gun and it fired nothing, you could tell Zemo was anticipating his death, accepting it. He really is a tragic villain.

The writers in the MCU are amazing. They really ought to coin a phrase for taking an otherwise fairly forgettable member of a superhero's rogues gallery and turning him into someone complex and layered. Freeze'd? lol Either way, Zemo was a memorable villain in Civil War, and he remains so in TFatWS. A villain, or hero, you rarely see. If superheroes are modern interpretations of the larger than life Greek gods and demigods, then Zemo here is unique, because you never see a hero in those old tales who manages to turn the gods against one another, using their own very human failings.

This has popped in my recommended a few times so I finally watched it and I spent the whole time in awe of how flawlessly it was edited. I really liked Zemo in Civil War and was so happy to see him come back for the show and for so many people to like him too.
