Adam, I'm an older dude and I've had issues with my back in the past and if I can give you any advice that can help with your back it would be 3things, 1-build up your core strength 2-get insoles for your vans 3-dont get surgery unless it's absolutely the last resort. And under no circumstance dont take pain medicine. That will just prolong things
I have had the exact same back issues for over 10 years. Physical therapy is your best option. I had the bulged disc removed and now scar tissue is causing the same nerve pain.
"I did somehow destroy my back but I dont know how" :Insert clip of Adam jumping that orange crown vic at cleetus house and the cars frame bent in half.
First time I found Adam BMX LZ... was when I got my BMX... Then I lost interest in BMW and then I found out that he has a BMW e46... then he bought the Cream 240... first time drifting, first event, second event... new house, new cars...new shop... FD... i don't even know how time passed so fast xD. I talk like I'm his dad xD sorry
I also blew my L4-L5 disc, I had it fused in 2009 and then redone in 2012. The first doctor really messed it up and I am in constant pain. I finally broke down and had a spine stimulator installed to get off the pain meds. My pain management doctor has been awesome in helping me. I recommend that you DO NOT have surgery until you just cannot stand it. When the pain totally makes you feel like your life sucks, then get it done. The pain will interfere with everything you do in your life. I was disabled at 53 when I thought that I would work until I was 70. Life is good today and I really hope you get better.
Watching when you had the 6r80 in the car. You were having the same issues I had when I had the 6r80 behind my 351 with US Shift controller. It was never right. This is gonna be a total different animal now! Can’t wait to see👍🏻
I just went through what you're going through now. Do whatever you can to avoid surgery. I have a similar build to you and had 3 surgeries over the last 2 years and I'm not much better than I was. Your back is so critical, be careful how you bend and lift, it's no joke when it really blows out the disc.
Appreciate you talking about your back problems. As someone with a few health issues, I see a lot of RU-vidrs with seemingly perfect health and wish I could too, but knowing the people you look up to have their own issues they have to deal with and still push through is inspiring
2 years ago when I was 38, my back started to give me issues. It was basically giving me a big FU from all the crashes it took from my MX days. I decided to go to a chiropractor the specialized in a lot of modern medical equipment. Not the cracks and pops that most are use to. After a couple sessions for a couple weeks my back feels pretty good.
Dr Sweeny from Southeastern Spine in Sarasota Fl did fusion surgery on my wife's back. He was the best spine doctor we have ever dealt with in Florida and she has been all over trying to find the right doctor. Small in and out surgery for you and you'll be back at it 100% again. Good luck man
I herniated my last disc too, I had surgery done to trim it down because it was pressing on my sciatic nerve. Best decision I've ever made. I'm only 29 btw i had the surgery a year ago.
I'm about the meet with a surgeon. 27 dealing with an L4/L5 herniation for the past 2 years. Glad to see a success story and I hope to be making the same statement as you some time soon.
@@Petrockrocker I hope everything goes well for you, if you get it done definitely don't try to over due anything. I've been taking it easy for the past year no dirtbikes or anything that would put me in danger of messing myself up until I feel like I'm fully healed. I still have slight nerve pain every once in a while down my leg. But no where near what it was.
I did the exact same thing to my back from deadlifting a year ago. I feel your pain. Go to physical therapy and you need to do all the stretches they tell you and do them very often. Ask them to do dry needling too. Pretty much all you can do without surgery
Hey Adam, I’m 37 and have dealt with three herniated discs over the years. Just want to tell you to do the prescribed physical therapy and try to avoid surgery as much as possible, it just kicks the problem a few years down the road without really fixing anything. Hope you feel better soon, wouldn’t wish disc problems on anyone.
Hey I've been down the lower back problem road. I've had 4 lumbar back surgeries from S1 to L3 and multiple injections and have figured alot to keepy my back strong and healthy( most you can do on your own and the results are better than anything the Drs have done!)
If adam puts a big turbo barra in the gt350 after burning down the voodoo, imagine what he could put in it if the barra burns down. Just a thought. *Collete you know what to do*
If he not wants to match the engine's and the car's brand, then maybe he will put in it a Toyota 1FZ - in stock it have +0.5 liters displacement like the Barra, or a Nissan TB engine - in stock it have +0.2 up to +0.8 liters displacement like the Barra...so...
Most of my lumbar discs are blown or bulging from a car accident and life. I highly recommend you get the surgery. It made a significant difference for me after one point going numb from the waste down. Things will never be the same again, but exercise and especially daily stretching will help manage the daily pain. I also recommend spinal decompression during the bad times, and a tens unit too when you're too stiff. Good luck
I’m in the same boat you are with your back. My L3-L5 are shot. I’ve had the epidural shots and they help but physical therapy has helped the most. Getting your core strength up also helps out a ton. My inversion table is my new bestie
my dad herniated the same disc. and has the same problem, so did his mom (my grandma) my grandma got surgery for it and it’s only made it worse. she’s now unable to walk but has reduced pain. my dad tried these stretches with a workout band? and he’s back to feeling like he’s 30 even though he’s 50. so worth a shot adam!
As someone who also suffers from bulging disc issues, my inversion table is one of the best investments I've made in treating the condition. I ended up buying a 'teeter hang ups' inversion table. Whenever my bulging disc flares up, I follow this routine... Best time to use it, is directly before going to sleep. I hang upside down for a total of 10-20 minutes, this gently stretches your spine and relieves the pressure on the bulging disc. Then after exiting the inversion table I go directly to bed before my spine fully compresses. I would also wear a back brace during the day while I still felt any pain. Usually after a few days my back pain would go away. Bliss!! I also got into the habit of doing crunches whenever hanging in the inversion table as this helps strengthen your core and abbs. Good luck.
I have/had similar back issues, best things you can is core strength exercises, stretching, foam rollers, and funny enough laying on a flat surface like the shop floor for like 30 minutes a day does wonders. It's probably what helped the most. Inversion tables and reverse hypers are really good as well but that's a later phase of recovery. Don't do surgery , surgery is the very very last option.
My wife had the same thing happen to her back here in the uk. They ended up cutting the bulge off the herniated discs. It made the pain better but she still struggles. We where told the only other option would be to fuse the discs together. Feel for you buddy. Best of luck.
Adam, Really similar back issues since my mid 20’s from crushing my lower discs from snowboarding and my spine doing a “reverse s” resulting in poor lumber curvature. Best things I’ve found is core strength building exercises over time, find a good chiropractor to keep you in alignment, and use a rolled up towel/pool noodle under your lower back/lumbar area for 15 minutes before you sleep at night. Makes a world of difference. Keep up the great content man 👍🏼
My mom had a very similar situation with her back. She ended up having surgery done and it took well over a year to only mostly recover. This was almost 6 years ago and she still has relatively minor problems to this day. Also, stay away from heavier pain medications. The last thing you want to happen is to become dependent on them.
Been dealing with similar back issues for about 7 years now. It blows. Nothing to be done other than drugs and avoid the triggering activities. I feel your pain.
I’ve had the same issue with my back. Try doing a lot of decompression and massages will make it feel so much better. Hope this helps. Please continue to share your journey
Hey Adam, I'm sorry about your back and I know how you feel!!! I really hope you find the right Dr it fix your back and REALLY DON'T END UP LIKE ME!!! I have degenerative disk disease after all my surgery's I was told the disk above my fusion's is bulging now. I had 3 Dr's tell the same thing that if they have to fix that disk that it's NEVER going to stop.
Please take care of your back dude. Im 33, last year I had 2 major back surgeries because I kept putting it off and working through the pain. 4 screws, 2 rods, a fake disk and a bone fusion. Twice cus a screw broke out of the bone. Dont put off getting better. Hoping you get better dude.
Adam, I had the same lower back thing. I saw a api. Management doctor is ready of surgery. I got 4 injections in my lower back and I’ve been 99.9% better for 4 months.
Re your back, i did L5 S1 about 10 years ago, same disc. Needed surgery. Took a while to come good The thing is now its stronger than ever. Its a long road Build your core strength!!! I had microdiscectomy or however its spelt. Dont get surgery unless absolutely needed! Takes a while to get over! Took me a year! See a back surgeon asap and he will tell you if it needs cutting. Try and find the best doc you can to get the best advice If you start getting pain down your legs its getting worse.
Screwed my back and ribs up 4 months ago grade 2 muscle strains from work good luck with your healing I’m doing much better but like you said I can only sit couple of ways or it starts bothering me hope you have a quick recovery
I’ve had the same back issue for 2 years. I hurt it when I was 24 and the doctors have been worthless. Good luck brotha I hope you have better luck than me!
Yes Adam. Shout out from Spain. I'm making a "DriftFamilyProject"- MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS video "from Drifters, by Drifters, for Drifters". Have an amazing 2021
I also bulged a spinal disc in my lower back. Basically they tell you certain stretches to slowly work the disc back into its normal spot. The stretch’s actually work great and over time if you keep doing them, it works itself back in and you’re good to go. If you don’t try to fix it now, those discs can burst and that’s where the real pain starts and you’ll need surgery and then couch ridden for 2-3 weeks after. The bursted disc happened to my dad.
hey adam, my name is adam too, i herniated my L4 vertebrae a few years ago, every now and again it acts up but it will get better with proper care and surprisingly lifting weights will make the pain less over time.
As far as your back goes, went through the same thing as you are now. Just got mine sorted out. Not a guarantee for everyone but epidural injection worked for me, helps with inflammation
People will hate but I had the same back issue and the chiropractor fixed it right up! I dealt with it for years and after 4 appointments I've now been great for over 6 months.
Aw, would've loved to see a ZF 8 speed on there. Stop turning everything and anything into a race car - you can actually go fast without "ruining" a car.
Definitely get one of those inverter chairs!!! It change my life. I had a herniated L5 would get steroid injections every 4 to 6 months (insanely expensive). But that chair 10-15 minutes a day was life changing
Sorry to hear the back problems. I had similar issues. The best thing was Peloton. It strengthened my core significantly and that helped release the pressure on the disks. Most people don’t think biking would do that but to stop from swaying and putting pressure into the pedals takes a bunch of isometric core strength
I had 5 herniated disks in my lower back 10 years ago, I was in physical therapy for 7 months 2-3 times a week. I was barely able to walk at that time bc of the pain and sciatica. No surgeries or medication, just used Aleve, heat pads, and cream like bengay. Now only time I feel it is before it rains or after lol but nothing like it was.
My brother had the exact same problem with his back, but his pain got so bad that he could not sleep or do anything for weeks. He had surgery just before Christmas and now his back is fine👍
I'm currently going through lower back pain and just got a MRI my l4 and l5 disc are pinching my nerves. Best thing for me is to start the day active of just walking around to loosen up and I doimg a bunch of lower back stretches. I just got approval from the doctor to do the spine injection or surgery. I'm going with the injection. Best of luck
I had a herniated disc recently. Get on physio asap especially traction. Worked wonders in my case and I'm 100% now that I've built back some core strength.
Yoga stretch!! I have back issues also and doctors can’t do much for me aside from meds. But doing stretches that extend the spine works awesome. Can hurt if doing it too long but after a few minutes the paint is gone and up moving no issues.
I’ve had two bulged discs in my lower back, L4 andL5. I actually invested in an inversion that makes you hang upside down and takes a ton of pressure off you back and helps rejuvenate the fluid in the disc. Initially they wanted to do surgery but I was against that. Years later I have no issues.
I had this same issue with my back. I ended up getting a surgery called microdiscectomy. Essentially it’s removing the herniated portion of the disk. I am 22 years old and had it when I was 21. I’ve been pain free since!
*related to spine/back problems* My dad (a 40 year professional bike racer) was told that this happens from always being bent over a bike, being tall, working over engine bays. He had a herniated disc that pinched a nerve. He basically was in serious pain, couldn’t stand or transition to sitting without serious pain. He also couldn’t lift weight or do much of anything. Some recommended surgery/drugs what ever. A bike racing specialist recommended “pressups” a half push up where you lay in your stomach, keep your hips flat on the floor and do a push up. I basically “bends” your spine the opposite way and releases it. He has never had an issue sense. Sure you won’t see this but hope it helps.
Hey Adam! I am 21 with very similar back issues to you. For me it was caused by mountain biking. I have my three lower most discs herniated, so I feel your pain! I have been in physical therapy now for 8 weeks, and my improvement is amazing. You gotta strengthen the muscles around the area to heal it. Also, do a TON of leg stretches. I learned that your legs and back are all connected, so that is very important to relieving the nerve pain caused by the herniations. I really hope this helps and I can't wait to hear more updates! (P.S. Try getting a lumbar pillow to use in the car for longer rides. That helped me a ton! Most car seats don't have great lumbar support.) Good luck! -Ben
I have had back problems for a long time. Don't get on pain killers if at all possible. Also, the real game changer for me was getting orthotic insoles. I put off getting them for years and had years of pain. I finally got insoles and 90% of my pain was gone within a week.
Adam, I had a herniated L4 and L5S1, I ignored mine as it just hurt, the lower disc ruptured, paralysed me from the waist down for 6 months as it pinned the spinal cord, then when that calmed down I had permanent damage to the whole left side hip down including zero feeling or muscle control. If I could go back I would have taken it easier and tried something to resolve it. It’s been 6.5 years and I now have around 80% feeling back which is lucky but still hinders everything I do. If it goes you will hate the type of life you would be left with.
i had a herniated disc in my lower lumbar and i was able to get these injections that helped reduce the inflamation while breaking down the herniated material. i got 3 injections over the course of a year and went from barely being able to move, to never feeling lower back pain again. i cant recall what exactly it was but i know it was non-steroidal.... but was also a really new treatment that i got through my canadian healcare system. only paid maybe $30 per injection for the prescription. might be worth looking into!
