Went on a work trip to Barrow earlier this year. To pass time on the weekend, I went to watch the local team, Barrow FC. They won 7-0 and played significantly better football than most of the sides I watch on League 2 every week. Looking forward to watching them in League 2 next season.

JRA York York, Stockport, Darlington, Torquay, Notts County, Chesterfield, Hartlepool,Wrexham and Chester. Lots of established league teams have been relegated to non-league and have struggled to get anywhere near being promoted again, very sad imo.

Barrow played in the Football league from 1921 to 1972. Whilst most people think the 1st Argentinian players in England were Ardiles, Villa and Tarantini in 1986, Barrow had 2 on their books in 1937;- Casco Rinaldi and Augustas Copra - although i don't think either played a 1st team game

I really need to go into coaching. I'm 24 years old and I have a real live for the game. One thing he said that stood out was when he spoke about winning the ball back within 6 seconds on how at the non league level it's easier. That's is something I can relate to.

They're currently 18th in the League Two table. Considering the Bottom Four's current record and assuming it will remain mostly the same, they'll definitely stay in the league this season. They're currently in the FA Cup too, set to play AFC Wimbledon on the 26th of November.

brilliant and interesting video . never knew this about barrow. watched them about 3 years ago against braintree and they played with two full backs that launched long throws into box at every opportunity. Great that they have a coach now that has been successful with an attractive style of football and got promoted out of that league as the conference can be very direct and physical at times. Respect

That last part about recruiting footballers is so true even in America where often the smaller technical players aren’t recruited as heavily. And they put more of an emphasis on bigger physical players instead.

I've never understood England's love affair with hoof and hope at the lower levels. To me, the better the players the further they should be allowed to pass. Long pass completion percentages are awful and headed shots and crossing is statistically the worst way to consistently play at EVERY level. The traditional 4-4-2 TM systems are the least efficient ever. You'd think that with less conditioned, slower, older, less skilled players you'd want to ask them to do things as simple as possible. Anybody can make a square pass to a player 4 yrds away. So passing it short from back-to-front and having a big guy hold it up and then lay it off for a through ball makes the most sense. Most of the time, the big guy gets fouled or dispossessed in a spot that a counter-press can be effective at winning it back. then you can take advantage of undisciplined defenders being ahead of the ball. Also, the 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 probably makes the most sense down there. Maybe this team shows people that you can do things differently, and following the herd mentality means you have to brute force your way up the tiers.

except it's normally not established players, but more like "blokes down the pub that prove how manly they are" and apparently there's nothing more manly than hoofing it 50 meters and this is further exemplified by the "only one of 2 members of the full time staff" these players aren't paid the megabucks (likely having a regular 9-5 and doing an evening training), they just turn up on the Saturday/Sunday for a game, and then a few training sessions midweek to prepare
