To this day I still don't understand how they were not up for an academy award for that sound track???? Seems to be something fishy going on at that time.
And the proof’s in the pudding: It’s half a century later. Everyone still knows and sings Stayin’ Alive. Even folks who weren’t born when the movie and album came out. I remember a lot about that year. I was 12. Goodbye Girl, Star Wars, Close Encounters, Grease. Awesome year for film and music. Sgt. Pepper! (The movie. I loved it.) Queen’s We Are The Champions. Beth, by KISS. I haven’t a clue who won that Academy Award the BeeGees earned. I guess it wasn’t memorable enough?
Oh my goodness they were so young, adored Robin and loved the Bee Gees back in the day, i grew up with their music and still listening today 2023. RIP Robin and Maurice together again 😢 ❤😢❤
What a great interview to see the three brothers so young, robust, and cracking each other up. They seem to be very naughty but in good spirits. That is the way I would like to remember them. Fun-loving. hilarious, laughing, cracking each other up. I miss them together so much.
I do believe it is time for the Academy Awards to go ahead and give a special award to them for the movie and the soundtrack. And it is way overdue for Sir Barry to receive the Kennedy honors award.
As always another wonderful interview with the brothers and Robert Stiggwood. Love their comedic answers. It was clear that they had a wonderful relationship with Robert. They all were Gentlemen. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing this Wonderful show with BeeGees and Robert. All the answers in one place . All there songs were incredible . Barry still here in 9-24-2023 Love Barry w/full Respect.
Thank you very much for sharing. I only had the pleasure of seeing a snippet of this once… Now you have given all of us the opportunity to watch the entire show…how wonderful. Love all your Bee Gee posts. You never let the fans down…💙🦋
Loved seeing the boys together....even if most questions never got completely answered. (Frustrating) It was great to see the whole interview - thank you for posting. Mrs R C
Amazing to think that Robert Stigwood was only 12 years older than Barry and 15 years older than the twins. He looks easily old enough to be their father.
Remember this one. Beta and VCR were the best thing since sliced bread. My mom and cousin used to tape all of these for me. I got rid of these a couple of years ago. I like Merv. Sergeant Pepper and Trash, I think that I still have them. 🤣 Those were the days. I do wish that Barry would have released a live version of SHF 40th anniversary. That was an excellent tour.

Omg, you are a treasure trove, livingeyes!! I've been searching for this full interview ever since I saw clips in the HBO doc. Can't wait to watch the whole thing ☺👏🙌
Think I'm being what's called shadow-banned? I can post to other people on other channels but not to you!? But it could also be my whacked out internet!!?😝
So much talent and creativity!! So thankful Roger saw the gifted trio/dollar signs and gave them the chance to shine for the entire world!! Never forgotten.
These guys are so funny. Even when Merv Griffin asked pretty silly questions….they respond professional and funny. I wonder what movie Mr Stigwood was talking about. It never made it…whatever it was. Too bad the screen size is small.
I did enjoy this, shame about the recording quality though. Robin & Maurice were cracking Barry up. He was trying to be so serious, then they would chip in with something funny. I've never seen this. Thank you.

🥀Amazing interview with The Brothers Bee Gees to me they were better than the Beatles I guess it has to do with generation gap between my sister's and myself 🥀☝️🥀
I don't think Barry be any more gorgeous upon entering in those white pants & red shirt!!😘He's a sight to behold to any woman!!🔥This same interview is also on SMH Little Bit Of Everything channel, & is a little easier to watch (or at least to see him!). I've always liked Stigwood too. He passed away in 2016, & his memorial event is on James Dayley channel. Barry, David English & others spoke. Barry, Linda, Ashley & his wife, Dwina & RJ and few other family members were there.

I think they were more tired of people asking them about their "disco" music. They always stood firm that they did not write "disco" songs and that the SNF songs were written before Stigwood came to them about it. They had never heard of "disco" until then.
I remember recording this with an audiocassette recorder in 1978. I'm hoping this is the full interview. All the other ones I've seen are edited. Thank you for posting!
@@01livingeyes Actually, there are parts missing. The recording I have has an exchange where Robin is trying to make a point, and he finally says, "Forget it. I can't get a word in edgeways!" And some of Frankie Howard's comments have been cut. Still, it was great to see this again!
@@actfray Poor Robin. Someone, mostly Barry, was always interrupting him when he was speaking. No wonder he stopped talking in the interviews and just let Barry do all the talking. He probably knew it was futile.
I still don’t understand how these guys, after absorbing so much nicotine, inhaling so much smoke, and collecting so much tar, apparently don’t get all nauseous, dizzy, pale, tired, or even lightheaded! You’d think they’d pass out, but nope! Amazing
Thank you for the interview. Am I the only one who feels this interview is a bit off from their other interviews? Mos smoking must have been a bit much to have to breathe in. It seemed to me, anyway, that Mo didnt like Merv too much. All the guys seemed defensive. Even Merv said the boys were buggin him. They were unusually obnoxious. Well, maybe I'm just being over sensitive.
80stimeagain. I was thinking the same thing that this interview was a bit off compare to their others interviews. I think all atmosphere in studio was kind of weird. Interviewers were joking and their jokes wasn't pleasant or funny ( just my opinion) you can see it in defensive answers of all Bee Gees. Something ...i can't point it out... mannerisms, condescending remarks or tone of conversation??? They didn't ask to sing "Jingle jangle" or some dissent songs but showed stupid unsuccessful Sgt.Pepper's Lonely hearts and were going on and on... So make it short - it's not my favourite interview. Interviewers did not opened up the souls of guys didn't show who they are in reality. It was interesting to see it like one of many about Bee Gees, but picking up on each other... nah But it's me and my opinion. P.s. i didn't like Merv either.
@@irinaarcher325 Oh my God. I agree with you totally. You explained it so well. Yea, usually I enjoy most Bee Gees interviews. I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt uncomfortable watching this one. It's just that the Bees Gees are usually not like this in my opinion. I agree.
Yup, I agree that this was a bit cringy... and if I had to put my finger on it, I'd say the reason is (hate to say it), Mo. Now, I absolutely LOVE latter-days, sober Mo, but right around this time when (by his own admission), his drinking was at its worst and most out of control, he really could be a bit much. He's trying way too hard to be funny and clever (while totally missing the mark), and he's at different times visibly annoying the crap out of everyone on the panel (including Merv, that other older guest, and even Barry). Take out Mo's antics, and all the other ones (Barry, Robin and even Stigwood) were their usual polite and adult selves.
I was at the late '70s and loved The Bee Gees, Saturday Night Fever was that rare phenomenon a bit like Thriller later, they don't come along too often, I was too young to see the film at the time as it had an adult rating, seeing the Film later on in the Video era it was a bit of a let down, Stigwood produced Fever and Grease but Sgt Peppers was a big miss, it was a stinker and marked a down turn for Bee Gees and Frampton, dumb idea messing with Sgt Pepper, a bit like wanting to give the Mona Lisa are few changes, just leave it alone.
Always kind of felt sorry for Maurice, Trying to get attention……he must have felt inferior. Course, Barry was the songwriter and real talent, but Robin was my favorite…..
