I can't stop watching them. He is fucking great. "This guy tells me that about my wife, I'm sorry sir but I'm going to break your leg! BAM, his knee will be shattered!"
Holly shit bas rutten is a fucking beast he is litterally fighting with some kind of shitty shin guards duck taped around his legs!!!! Wtf... True warrior !!!!!
This match was on same year as UFC 1. Lucky Bas didn't go to UFC back then otherwise that would've been Royce's dead body on the end of that Knee to Liver.
Jeff Goldbloom exactly. for the time its what pancrease fighters used. a simpler time. i just stumbled upon this in my reccomendeds so idk if pancreas is still around. but bas was the king of it anyway. the 90s were really an easier time
He went for two horrible arm bars losing him the on top advantage twice. Didnt attempt to land any ground strikes or wear him down. Guys a complete potato of a fighter and a well deserved L.
@@drewg5484 even though ground strikes are allowed, it is frowned upon by the JP audience (sign of being disrespectful) and it's also part of pancreas athlete "gentlemen" conduct on those games.
man I know this is 93 but look how freely yusuke went from side control to the arm bar on the OPPOSITE side. Bas had no half guard, or even an elevated right knee to prevent the mount. the pedigree and well-roundedness of today's mma fighter is something that's not obvious unless you look back.
You’ve got to look at it in context, the fact that Bas was a high level striker who actually had some submission game in 1993 is impressive enough. Remember it wasn’t MMA all these guys trained in 1 discipline unless they ‘cross trained’ very few of those guys this long ago.
I like how they did the hand touch thing at the beginning to show respect. Also very badass of Fuke to force himself to stand up after taking that massive blow, even if he immediately collapsed again.
I remember watching Bas a a young boy. was around 8 or 9. so 1998ish, when I first lernt of Bas. I watched him liver shot multiple people during the few fight I had seen. well one day at school an older kid thinks hes gana bully me in front of these girls I was hanging with. first thing that come to mind "Bas liver shot" so I punched this kid as hard as I could. closed fist, right to the liver. it crumpled him! he had to be taken from school to the hospital 😅 well, I kept hanging with those girls thank Bas
2012 : ... 2013 : ... 2014 : ..... 2015 : nah 2016 : what we should do? 2017 : not yet 2018: maybe tomorrow 2019 : lets make this in RU-vid RECOMMENDATION
As opposed to the rule where you're not allowed to kick someone if they have a knee to the ground in MMA, or the rule where two people bashing each other's heads in decide to take a breather when a bell rings in pretty much every fighting sport, or the rule where you can KO someone but only with your hands, which are inside comically large gloves in boxing... Different sports have different rules.
I love bas . He's an awesome fighter with a ton of skill. But today's UFC is way higher skill level except in the stomps to the head on the ground area. For example bas goes for the guillotine 3 times and not once tries to control the hips. Controlling the hips during the guillotine is basic
catyear75 - Do you mean the time where bas nearly broke his arm to get to the ropes in an armbar, or the time where his knee touch the guys back through his liver?
Catyear75, I am no expect on this topic but when you get a hard kick / strike to the liver about 5 seconds later you ARE DONE. The force of the impact causes the liver to release all of the held fluids (mostly toxins) which 5 seconds later are throughout your circulation system essentially causing your body to shut down. Try it.
Love me some Bas but I agree. There were tons of works in this era, and it’s really difficult to get a perfect liver shot in that position with your knee. I realize that Bas was very good at liver shots with his hands and legs, but it seemed worky. Also, Fuke getting up on the 9 count seemed very WWE. I may be wrong though and hope I am.
Just before the match, without knowing who Bas Rutten is, this looked like a staged wrestling match. I think people would rather see this type of fighting than the UFC/MMA, though the fighters could use MMA skills. I like the idea of breaking when the ropes are grabbed. This is the closest anyone will see the WWE as a real sport.
In Pancrase a fighter can touch the rope to use an escape, the other fighter has to let go and the fight is reset. When a fighter uses an escape he loses a point. If he does it too many times he loses the fight.
