11:36 talking about visibility and blind spots as the ahead cannot be seen pedestrian crossing street. Perfect edit.

6.7s 0-60 is very quick for an economy commuter. That is sport compact territory (ie Civic Si).

It’s a pity Australia isn’t getting this because a dopey as Toyotas have been lately a Prius family car and a cheap Chinese EV second car would be the perfect garage for us

The 2024 Prius can be ordered with AWD. The 2024 Prius Prime cannot. Toyota says the Primes much larger battery takes up more space so the extra gear needed for AWD can't be fitted. In fact, all of the regular (non-Prime), cars being shipped to Canada will be equipped with AWD as a standard feature. Our new Prime SE has the plastic hub-caps. But behind them you'll find nice wheels actually. Very surprising. And, sticking with wheels; you are better off with the 17's. Better gas milage and ride and far less expensive to replace when the time comes. I just hope that before next winter someone comes up with a winter tire to fit the car. Right now such a tire is not available anywhere. So far, we are getting 80km (50 miles), in EV Only Mode before the engine joins in. Still half a tank of the dealers gas left after five weeks. Gas here is currently at the equivalent of $7.22 CAD a US gallon. Won't be buying much of it anymore.

I have a Prius Design on order. One of two models that will be available in the UK. It is a SE but with more bells and whistles. Comes with 17 inch wheels but not impressed with either the look or width. What size tyres would you recommend if I kept the standard wheels. Alternatively what size wheels (and tyres) if I went for aftermarket ones.

Am I right in thinking The Design model is the same as the Prime SE sold in Canada. We got our Prime SE just five weeks ago and so far are very much enjoying it. I can't recommend rim or tyre sizes as replacements for the OEM, but, I can tell you that under those plastic wheel covers you'll find, not the basic and very plain steel wheels one would expect. I think they look better than the covers.

It has a few more things than your SE including the larger infotainment screen, dual zone climate control, better finish on the inside door handles, automatic lights, phone charger in the slot near to the gear lever but not sure if there is much else. Not a fan of black wheels but it will be interesting to see what the wheels under the covers will look like. Ordered it in metallic silver thinking the contrast with black/dark grey covers might look half decent.

Hello Nicholas, Funny to my mind how Toyota (and other manufacturers), outfit the market segment models. Our SE has not just Auto-On running lights but, also Auto-High-Beams. It lacks Dual Zone Climate Control though even though our climate is far more extreme in variations compared to The UK's. We get the full 3.0 drivers suite with every model but no wireless phone charger. The North American versions (of the SE), also don't have the rear mounted full width LED light bar or the dash width accent lighting. Please, don't worry about the OEM tyres and wheels. Our SE drives like a dream on her 17: 195's, especially in EV mode. I can scarcely believe how smooth it carries on compared to the twelve year old Prius C we traded in when buying our Prime. Lots of compromises for now with the new Prius. We ordered a 2022, in Sonic Red (in 2022), and wound-up with a Pearl finish 2024 model. After the first day though we decided the Pearl was a better colour choice. May not be so important in The UK but, here in Canada there is no winter (M+S), version tyre available for this car, in the OEM size. Considering The Prime is FWD only that's a majour misstep. Really hope you enjoy your new Prius. Kind Regards Tom
