I like Don he is entertaining and tells it like it is. And I understand him because I am 1/2 Italian so I get the way he feels. The other half of me is French so they calm me down. Don"t ever change Don ,you are priceless !
It's not about today's baseball vs today's basketball. It was specifically about the Yankees playing a generic early regular season game with hitting issues vs the Knicks blowing a playoff game. A total "read the room" moment.
I mean, there are only 9 teams in the league who have struck out fewer times than the Yankees. This complaint is no longer that valid. I suppose you might be able to say they need to cut down the strikeouts in big spots, but I don't know the numbers one way or another there. Right now the Yankees lead the league in walks and have the 10th fewest strikeouts. So overall, their plate discipline and strike zone vision hasn't been an issue.
Don by his own admission, hates math, because he was bad at it in school, and is to this day. And since the "advanced" stats in baseball require slightly more than basic math skills to understand, he hates them, hates all analytics, and their influence on baseball. Because heaven forbid games evolve, or data be used to maximize player effectiveness. We should just hope that our team lucks into hiring a manager with "gut" and "instincts" to make the best moves to allow the team to win, and players should be evaluated same that they were in 1988.
Baseball is the most boring sport if we’re ranking the 4 sports. It’s not constructed to be an enjoyable sport to watch im sorry. I mean lets say you have a favorite pitcher, oh he pitches once every 5 games Lets say you have your best hitter, oh he gets how many PA a game? Like 4? Or 5 on a good night? Fucking hockey theyre out there 1/3 of the game power play too, Football 1/2 of the game. And theres only 17 of them so each game is significant. Basketball if its not load management theyre out there 40/48 minutes Even soccer as boring as that is the best player is out there the whole game 😂😂 So “NY is a baseball town” no you just think that cuz the people who waste hours of their day waiting for their name to be called on 98.7 or WFAN happen to be baseball fans.
