In this Basecamp adventure, we return to Ullswater in the Lake District. Pitching up on the north end of the lake at the pristine Hillcroft Park, we explore the local bronze age monuments and hike the Ullswater Way around England's most beautiful lake.

Rain.. in the Lakes - surely not. Another great video. I need a Basecamp for exactly these trips. And I agree calling it a camper. I have a twin axle conqueror on a seasonal pitch in Cornwall but have looked at the ridiculously priced and tiny Vw campers for long weekends but have landed on the idea of a Basecamp.

My favourite part of the world & there's nothing like being able to stroll into a nearby village is there? We're just back from an Anglesey CL. Sadly awful weather & wind. In fact on the way home we were diverted away from the Menai Bridge!

@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Год назад
I definitely had the same weather as you then! It’s a nightmare when they close that bridge. The traffic really backs up around Menai and Bangor.

Great video again thanks. What app do you use to plan your walks please?
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Год назад
Hi Phil. I use Outdoor Active. It’s brilliant for planning and also following your routes. The best I would say. I also download the GPX files from Outdoor Active and upload to to Garmin Explore so I can also follow the route on my Garmin watch.

Another odd question if I may? I think I saw you wearing Scarpa boots in some of your videos. Am I correct and, if so, which version and are you happy with them?

Great Videos. Very useful. Which route planning app do you use for hikes??

I use Outdoor Active to plan all my hikes. You can also navigate the routes via the app also however I upload the GPX files to my Garmin watch and navigate that way instead.

Another great video 👍 I keep meaning to ask, do you have enough room to sleep across the Basecamp? I think i recall you mentioning in a previous video that you are 6’4”. When i walk by the one in my village I imagine that even myself at 6’1” might struggle to stretch out across in the Basecamp 🤔
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales Год назад
When I’m in my sleeping bag my feet do touch the far end so I can’t fully stretch out so I always end up at and angle. 6ft 1” would be fine. Most owners sleep on the bench seats but I’m way to tall.

Are they shoes? I’ve seen them but I don’t use them on her
@cumbriancamper
@cumbriancamper Год назад
@@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales no, it is a wax that is used in husky racing,it doesnt stain your furniture or is harmful to the dog in any way,rub it on the dogs paws like you would to moisturise your hands,stops them cracking and drying our in the hot weather and protects them from snow and ice in the colder months,its fantastic stuff. MUSHERS , cheers

Which awning are you preferring after using the standard and the inflatable?
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales

I use the Kampa Dometic 200 poled for winter and general bad weather camping as it can handle the beating. For fair weather my go to is the Vango RVA 2 which looks superb on the Basecamp and is very roomy. The airbeams aren’t strong enough for the winter.

Hi where do you get the grey throws from on the seats ?

Hi. They are just cheap throws from Dunelm.

This is probably a stupid question (I'm considering a Basecamp) but what is the right and wrong side of the pitch pleaase?
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales 8 месяцев назад
That’s a great question. It all depends on which side the electric, drain and water is situated. On this pitch I set up on the wrong side which meant my water hose, electric cable and waste pipe were cutting across the area I’d be parking my car. Does that make sense?
@thedemidogproductions
@thedemidogproductions 8 месяцев назад
@@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales That makes perfect sense. Thank you very much 👍
