BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단; RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan; lit. Bulletproof Boy Scouts), also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010. The band consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who co-write or co-produce much of their material. Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to incorporate a wide range of genres, while their lyrics have focused on subjects including mental health, the troubles of school-age youth and coming of age, loss, the journey towards self-love, individualism, and the consequences of fame and recognition. Their discography and adjacent work has also referenced literature, philosophy and psychological concepts, and includes an alternate universe storyline.
BTS debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment with the single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. BTS released their first Korean and Japanese-language studio albums, Dark & Wild and Wake Up respectively, in 2014. The group's second Korean studio album, Wings (2016), was their first to sell one million copies in South Korea. By 2017, BTS had crossed into the global music market and led the Korean Wave into the United States, becoming the first Korean ensemble to receive a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their single "Mic Drop", as well as the first act from South Korea to top the Billboard 200 with their studio album Love Yourself: Tear (2018). In 2020, BTS became one of the few groups since the Beatles (in 1966-1968) to chart four US number-one albums in less than two years, with Love Yourself: Answer (2018) becoming the first Korean album certified Platinum by the RIAA; in the same year, they also became the first all-South Korean act to reach number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 with their Grammy-nominated single "Dynamite". Follow-up releases "Savage Love", "Life Goes On", "Butter", and "Permission to Dance" made them the fastest act to earn four US number-one singles since Justin Timberlake in 2006.
As of 2022, BTS is the best-selling artist in South Korean history according to the Circle Chart, having sold in excess of 30 million albums. Their studio album Map of the Soul: 7 (2020) is the best-selling album of all time in South Korea, as well as the first in the country to surpass both four and five million registered sales. They are the first non-English-speaking and Asian act to sell out concerts at Wembley Stadium and the Rose Bowl (Love Yourself World Tour, 2019), and were named the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) Global Recording Artist of the Year for both 2020 and 2021. The group's accolades include multiple American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, and nominations for five Grammy Awards. Outside of music, they have addressed three sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and partnered with UNICEF in 2017 to establish the Love Myself anti-violence campaign. Featured on Time's international cover as "Next Generation Leaders" and dubbed the "Princes of Pop", BTS has also appeared on Time's lists of the 25 most influential people on the internet (2017-2019) and the 100 most influential people in the world (2019), and in 2018 became the youngest recipients of the South Korean Order of Cultural Merit for their contributions in spreading the Korean culture and language.
On June 14, 2022, the group announced a scheduled pause in group activities to enable the members to complete their mandatory South Korean military service, with a reunion planned for 2025. Jin, the oldest member, became the first to enlist, on December 13, 2022.

To be fair, Blackpink started with the support and backing of the Industry with tons of promotions and tv coverage. BTS started at the bottom with a small company working their way up with talent and hard work alone facing multiple obstacles so if they’re flexing, in my humble opinion they have every right to do so.

So, I would hold off questioning the meaning behind Mic Drop until you feel like diving into their history. Trust me this type of song isn't prevalent in their discography but is extremely warranted given how hard they had it (and still have it). As far as BTS songs with meaning... oh boy... An exhaustive list would take too much time, and basically be me listing off their entire catalog, so let me just give some highlights: No More Dreams (out of the gate they had things they wanted to say), Silver Spoon (speaking up for a generation that feels like it has no hope left), Spring Day (the Queen and both a song about longing and a song about mourning), Paradise (it's ok to stop and breathe), Dionysus (who needs booze when you can get drunk on ART?), Black Swan (fear of losing your passion)... And that's only scratching the surface and doesn't even go into their solo work. If you're looking for meaning, these are your guys.

@@AikenReviews you got some great suggestions! BTS has always written their own lyrics & are heavily involvedin creating the music,, and while some songs have more mainstream appeal, lyricism is one of the things that drew people of all ages to them on such a major scale that they broke through into the US mainstream. They write about various topics amd include a lot of self references to past works throughout their discography too, which makes fully appreciating the lyrics more difficult until you dive in deeper. Also I second that the lyrics in this song are more meaningful to those who know their history. Just like in any music industry, money is power and connections are king, so for groups like bts who came from veeery tiny companies that lacked the funding and connections of groups from large agencies (i.e. the former "big 3" as they were called) reaching success makes a little bragging and dissing those that either didn't believe in them, or even actively sabotaged them, satisfying for a lot of people lol. But yeah, bragging is definitely common in music, especially in hip hop, and can get a little tiring. Thankfully they do have a lot more to offer But seriously! If lyrics are the thing you love, there are plenty of their songs you could find interesting My recommended rule# 1 is always see if the CC button has options for english subtitles and #2 if you are a linguistic nerd like me, check out lyrics translation blogd like Muish's Ramblings or Doolsetbangtan. They're the real deal & give you all sorts of cultural context Tomorrow: an early b-side work I discovered during a really difficult school semester and cried the first time I saw the lyrics. Like, ffs, really??) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Z4QAADu_30.html And if you're a linguistic nerd like me, here is a commentary on the song's cultural context and cultural terminology ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xR5aGOV20iA.html Magic Shop: a song dedicated to their fans, describing the relationship people can have with music and the artists that create it, utilizing psychodynamic concepts ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c1IQEbl25Tw.html And finally, Blur & Grey, a beautiful song about dealing with depression that came out of the covid upheaval. To me the song feels like a warm hug 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iP62Tg04vww.html Annnnd....yeah, it's easy for me to write a whole book about them, theres just so much to explore in their work. BTS is not like other groups, they write history that others follow... Since 2013 everyone has followed their footsteps, they are the first to reach the top and pave the way for others to reach the US charts (bilbord grammy hot 100 hot 200 itun etc.) It is hard to believe that they are not appreciated by many.

Good reaction, BTS is nothing like black pink for many reasons, BP are a popular group, BTS are legends. Complete artists, they are composers, writers and producers. BTS have a variety of music, r&b, ballads, pop, hip hop etc. They are 3 REAL rappers and 4 vocals. His lyrics are written so that you can interpret them however you want but they are generally deep with a lot of meaning (songs that seem to be love songs are usually not love songs). They are incredible.

I do like your reaction it is clearly your honest opinion but based on virtually no other information you have of this group. If you really want to know the substance of BTS .. you need to know their history and development. Their first song in 2013 asked young people what their dreams were.. They now have a huge multi genre discography which comforts and inspires millions across generations, genders and cultures worldwide. 60 year olds like me do not Stan a group merely for the hype. Yes this was a diss to their haters and they have a few more which were very necessary.. they receive hate to this day. The members have to serve in the military , the eldest has enlisted 4 months ago. The remaining members have put out solo songs and albums before they enlist but all have repeatedly promised to re group in 2025. I would suggest a listen to their leader’s most recent album Indigo. Attention to the lyrics ( translated) is crucial to really appreciate what he writes about. Best wishes.

Thanks for checking out BTS! I'd really encourage you to explore a bit further as I'm quite certain you won't regret it. K-pop isn't really a genre. It's more an industry. And BTS isn't really k-pop. Yes, they're Korean & yes, they're popular (beyond imaginably popular with the largest, most loyal & diverse fan base - race, age, nationality, etc. - I believe the music industry has ever seen), but that's about it. BTS has 300+ songs in their discography - rap, hip-hop, latin pop, synth pop, R&B, ballads, etc.- and many/most of their songs have deeper lyrics about social issues, mental health, self-love, life in general, etc. If you tell BTS fans the type of music you like they'll likely recommend you many suggestions. If you decide to keep exploring, enjoy the ride!

With a title like Mic Drop, I'm not sure it could be anything but a flex song. But as others have mentioned, BTS' discography is extremely diverse. Their solo work demonstrates that the group has seven different artists each with different musical expressions. Their fanbase is also diverse, spanning a wide range of ages and musical tastes. We like music, everything from swing to punk, new wave to funk, hip hop to metal, ballads to anthems. And we're not necessarily Kpop fans. For the music videos, in Kpop they are designed to be part of the entertainment experience. They took what started on MTV in the 80s and perfected it. The MVs can complement the story of the song or bring in other themes. BTS's MV producers, in particular, are artists in their own right who masterfully layer imagery that serves the song (which can have multiple layers itself), the album's theme, and sometimes an alternative universe storyline.

Back in 2017 I stumbled upon BTS and while I thought their MVs were great and songs catchy, I dismissed their lyrics thinking they had no substance. How wrong was I! I later learned that even songs which had what I thought basic lyrics were in fact so much deeper and that there were many things lost in translation linked to the Korean culture. If you want something different from them with a MV and way more substance I would suggest BLACK SWAN: it’s a song about the fear of loosing their passion for music. It is based on a quote from Martha Graham, a contemporary dancer : “a dancer dies twice, and the first death is the most painful “. There are many others but I don’t want to overwhelm you. I have seen several people in the comments suggesting their English songs… if you’re looking for substance those are not a great example. While they have some lighthearted or more braggadocious songs in their discography, the large majority are actually very deep. Contrary to BlackPink, they have a very extensive discography and write their own lyrics (and compose and produce many of their songs). I have nothing against BlackPink, I think the members are very talented, but since they don’t have creative freedom their songs don’t tell their stories nor other deep meanings. And about Mic Drop : BTS has every right to brag… not only have they achieved incredible records all around the world, but they also have fought for years to get at the top while really coming from nothing. And yes, they have had and still have many haters.

Yea, BTS!! I'm so glad you checked them out. :) These guys came from a near-bankrupt company and were getting crapped on left and right when they debuted as teenagers in 2013. They were constantly degraded by "bigger" acts and told they weren't going to make it because they came from a D-list, nobody agency. They were cut from broadcasts, openly mocked, disrespected on shows they were invited to, and ambushed in interviews with false accusations. The kpop industry was tightly controlled by those Big Three and they *could not stand it* when BTS started doing well on platforms they couldn't control -- RU-vid, Twitter, etc. The sabotage was real -- not just from the industry, but other fandom who would organize efforts to keep BTS from doing well, in addition to starting rumors to damage their reputation, and making ridiculous accusations or twisting things around (as netizens are wont to do when they want to hurt someone). All this when they were still "nobodies" posing a threat to the "somebodies." Honestly, Mic Drop is them playing softball. The rappers go HARD on their haters in solo works. They write, produce, and work tirelessly on their craft. BlackPink had haters and hardships, too, and I'd be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. But they also came from one of the Big Three companies with a built-in fanbase and guaranteed certain levels of exposure and success. The girls work hard, and I do love a girl power song. But it loses some of its appeal when I realize all their songs are written by a dude. So, in that regard, BTS always wins out for me in their authenticity. To be frank -- when BTS made it big in the US, earning a Billboard award way back in 2017-- the kpop industry crapped itself and started trying to emulate their path to success. To an extent, a "hardship" story became a tactic for many. And several trends you'll find nowadays come from BTS. They cover *so many* topics and genres. All with sincerity and dedication to whatever message they are trying to convey -- be it a cheerful pick-me-up, a reflective examination of self, a dance party banger, or anything in between. All members have contributed to the creative direction and songwriting/producing over the years. They work very, very closely with their in-house team and Suga (one of the members) has said it's like a year-round music camp. I really hope you check out more of their work because there is literally something for everyone in their collective of damn-near 400 songs, if not more at this point. Maybe: - ON Kinetic Manifesto (an uptempo, marching cadence -- a call to bring on the challenges) - Black Swan (lyrical hiphop -- fear of losing passion for creating art) - Fire (EDM banger -- challenging the very strict demands placed on South Korean youth) - The Truth Untold lyric video (a ballad -- letting fear stop you and it leading to regret) - Magic Shop live performance (light EDM -- written for the fans -- magic shop is a term used in psychotherapy, trading in negative thoughts for hopeful ones) This is just a tiny, tiny, tiny sampling.

Mic drop is a song of substances if you know the back story of BTS. They are the ultimate underdog who fought against all odds to become musicians. A company almost bankrupt, ignored by the media in south Korea (just like American Radio stations refusing to play them now), insults from "friends" and other challenges. BTS came from the bottom and fought to the top so Mic Drop is not empty flex it's a statement that haters didn't stop them from becoming successful. Now Blackpink, they are just empty brags. They come from one of the companies that supported them well from the beginning. Angry girls is just a concept not their story. BTS are artists in it for the music. Blackpink are performers in it for a paycheck.

Want songs with meaning, they have a ton of songs with deep meaning. My 2nd favorite era is the Map of the Soul series which is inspired by Jung's Map of the Soul by Dr. Murray Stein. "I was quite impressed with Kim Nam-joon, RM as he’s called - I guess he’s the leader of the BTS group - when he spoke at the United Nations. What impressed me about that was that he kept the distinction, carefully, between who he was a boy growing up in a small village outside of Seoul, Korea and who he is publicly and famously now. You know, a star in the firmament of the entertainment world. If he were to identify with that role totally, he would lose contact with himself, with the boy he was, with the human being that he is. He would be ungrounded." "I must say I’m thrilled that they are taking an interest in Jung and my book, that Jung’s message and Jung’s vision is being transmitted to people who otherwise would never hear about him or pay attention to what he has to offer. Because I think what Jung has to offer in this century is a vision of wholeness and a vision of integrity and human rights that, you know, it would be so valuable for people all over the world to come into contact with and to study and to integrate into their daily life. Jung’s message is a very hopeful one: that our conscious is a spark of light. It has much to offer us if we pay attention to it. It gives us inner guidance and, really, it has emphasis on the sacredness of the individual and the importance of the individual to take responsibility for the planet and for the world." - Dr. Murray Stein

The other k-pop bands may sing of “haters,” but BTS is probably the only one that actually can claim it legitimately. They have had to cancel concerts for death threats, have endured racism in the West and jealousy and hatred and harsh criticism in their own country for their “non-idol looks” and “lack of talent,” been falsely accused of manipulating charts by buying their own music because their popularity was incredible enough to be “suspicious” by other groups’ fans, been falsely accused of plagiarism more than once, the rapline has been criticized for selling out and looking like girls for wearing makeup, and more. BTS has scrapped and clawed for their success for over 10 years, and the fact that their label was originally nearly bankrupt but is now the largest in S. Korea is all thanks to the hard work and sacrifice BTS put in every day. As a fan, it’s painful to see/hear someone brush that aside as equal in any way to what other groups may *claim* to have experienced.

Others have mentioned Map of the Soul and Spring Day. I’ll add Blood, Sweat &Tears, DDAENG, Daechwita, UGH, Trivia: Love, RM’s entire Indigo album, j-hope’s entire Jack in the Box album, just to start. You will need to watch the explanation videos and/or the doolset bangtan blog for these in order to really “get” both the messages and the brilliance of the lyrics due to wordplay and Korean culture that we non-Korean speakers can’t grasp on our own.

Before I actually started looking into BTS I thought the same as you. From the really popular songs that were everywhere like Dynamite and Butter, I thought that they just made really catchy songs and didn't really put much thought into their lyrics. But boy was I wrong lol. Majority of their songs actually have meaningful lyrics where they're trying to convey a story. After seeing their dynamic together and how they put their heart and souls into their music I couldn't help but become a fan. Please look into their other songs, you will definitely not be disappointed.

BTS discography is full of songs with deep meaning. From the beginning they spoke out about how kids were forced into paths that society or their parents want them to take and encouraged the youth to find and follow their own dreams. There are songs saying its okay to fail and songs speaking out about how the younger generation is belittled by an older generation who dont understand today's struggles. There are songs that deal with coming of age and songs that talk about dealing with anxiety and depression. There are 3 whole album series dealing with the philosophy of Nietzsche, Hernan Hesse, and Karl Jung. There are songs about loss and songs about finding yourself. There is a whole alternate universe storyline (the BTS Universe or BU) that runs through many of their music videos. It officially runs from "I Need U" to "Epiphany" but I start people at the Red Bullet Trailer since that era was retconned in during the LY era through their "the Notes" books. If you are interested in the storyline I can give you the list of what to watch. I fell in love with BTS during their Wings era and it is still my favorite but their album "7" came really close to unseating it. Wings contains the song Blood, Sweat, and Tears (part of the BU and largely influenced by the book Demian by Herman Hesse), and 7 contains the oft-recommended Black Swan (based on a quote by Martha Graham and is about the fear of one losing their passion for their art). Black Swan has an art film version that features a magnificent orchestral version of the song and a dance performance by MN Dance Company as part of their collab with global artists for pre-release promotions of the album 7. I hope you will be able to enjoy your next reaction more and discover the true beauty, artistry, and meaning behind BTS music that has created their much-deserved world-wide ARMY that spans many ages and genders.

Thanks for reacting to BTS. This is my first time seeing your channel, so I don't know what genre of music you like, but here are some recommendations for different styles of MV's and genres within BTS' discography: If you would like to see more of their dancing skills, I recommend ON: Kinetic Manifesto and ON: Live at Grand Central Station (same song, just one is live) If you want rap, try Outro: Tear, or UGH! If you want vocals, try The Truth Untold Stage Compilation, House of Cards, or Dimple (also, these are best live) For R&B, try Singularity (this is a solo work by Kim Taehyung, aka V) For fun energy, try So What, or Run BTS Live in Busan For deep philosophical meaning and stunning artistic visuals, try Black Swan or Fake Love And there are just so many more!

They have some of the deepest lyrics I’ve ever known. People usually see this first because of the views but you’ll find most of their songs have deep Korean lyrics and it’s worth it. They get to flex because their come up was kind of rough and I’ve never seen any band that gets as much grief as they do sometimes. Also, each member is talented in different ways and could have been solo all this time. A dream team really. They don’t stick to one genre which I love. Tks for the reaction. 💜

BTS has a lot os sub-genres within the group. Some of the songs are more singing driven, others more hip hop driven. You picked one that's hip hop driven. K-Pop is very influenced by hip hop, more than western pop since they have genuinely rappers in their groups. And since hip hop culture came from a place of people who faced prejudice and social oppression, a lot of hip hop is about increasing your own self steem, is a part of the genre. Also, it comes from the culture of rap battles, so you have a lot of "diss tracks" and say hello to the haters. And it's a lot about overcoming the difficult space you came from. I think when it translates to pop in general (including k-pop), sometimes this social and more deep nuances of dissing get lost in translation. BUT as a both hip hop and BTS fan, I think BTS use it well. There's a part of Suga's verse (the 2nd one to rap) in this song that is very signifcant of that: "my bad Billboard, my bad worldwide". A little bit of their story and you'll find out that, at the time they released MIC Drop, which was one of their biggest collabs with someone famous in the west (in this case, Steve Aoki), they were still struggling with a lot of hate from western audiences who didn't understand why they were "invading" the west like they were (and there were A LOT of racism, asian hate and xenophobia involved). I'm sure other people will educate you better than me, but since you talked about them being successful and "feeling the need" to address the hate, I felt it was necessary to comment about both nature of hip hop, its influence on k-pop and how BTS uses it. And I leave here my tip: a recommend you to react to a song (that has no music video, but you can find color coded lyric videos of it) called Silver Spoon (Baepsae) and a video expaining it, since korean culture and language can be tricky for us to understand fully the nuances of the lyrics and cultural references. It would be nice seeing you react to that. Here's the explained video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RP4Qbh2rXFU.html&t

They do have some songs that are clap-backs to the people who told them they could never be successful, coming from a tiny company with no clout. (My favorite of them is RM's 'Joke' - listening to that is like taking a master class on how to rap.) But haters are not a topic they particularly focus on. They are so creative in their songwriting, and not afraid to explore a lot of serious issues. If you ever see any of their behind the scenes videos, you'll see that most of their videos are shot in just a couple of days of exhausting, dawn-to-late night work. He recently dropped a song with him called On the Streets. Ed Sheeran has written 2 songs for them. They defy genre and to try and understand them with one song is a disservice. If you like rap, I recommend the Cyphers. They are huge fans of Kendrick Lamar and Nas and write modern day poetry in their raps. If you like depth of meaning and psychological undertones, Black Swan or Blood, Sweat and Tears. For sheer insane lyrics, dancing and drone shots ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima. Hi and Thank you for your very candid reaction! I really enoyed watching your reaction. While Mic drop is definitely one of my favourite BTS songs I agree with what your saying in terms of the lyrics, this is a complete flex song. That being said, BTS as a band are known for their lyrics (especially since they are involved in writing a LOT of their own music) amongst other things and if that is what draws you in I'm going to take the liberty of leaving you a few reccomendations that are lyrically beautiful; 1) Spring Day 2) The truth untold 3) Young Forever 4) Blue and Grey 5)Answer Love Myself Solo Songs 1) Epiphany (by Jin) 2) Wildflower (by RM) 3) Equal Sign (By Jhope) 4) Christmas Tree (by V) 5) People (by Agust D AKA Suga) 6) Promise (by Jimin) 7) Dreamers (by Jungkook, This was the official song for FIFA 2022 )

Please react to Justhis killing verse, he's a Korean rapper Btw if you want ✨substance✨ you should check out BTS's solos, for example Agust D's so far away or people or RM's solo "No.2". These songs do not have music videos so you should check out a lyric video. Justhis does have ✨substance✨ too, just saying 🙃

Thanks for your honest reaction..💜 they have songs that are in English : Dynamite, Butter & Permission to Dance.. But for their earlier songs, I would recommend Spring Day - love the lyrics [especially after seeing the theory behind its mv (it's related to a tragedy though)]

i guess you read my comment on your bad bunny video but it didnt really register cause like i said there its NOT a genre. genres are genres like pop, rock , rap etc kpop is not pop music so its not a genre its just music in another language. bts do ALL genres. there is no "this is there sound" because they dont have 1 sound they do everything. bts write and produce their own music. and the reason it has better flow than blackpink is cause bts rappers are legit rappers they write their own raps and were underground rappers before joining bts. blackpink very rarely writes their own lyrics especially not the rapping which is why theres a disconnect with their flows. please let the genre thing go cause its not gonna help you understand bts nor korean artists at all. language isnt a genre.

BTS was at first supposed to be a hip hop group. When they became an idol group, some underground rappers critized, saying that the BTS rappers were betraying hip hop/rap, that they were going for the easy commercial way. The 3 rappers started to do Cyphers to respond to those cristisms and to display their rapping skill. Mic drop was a bit of a closing act of those Cypers, a last farewell to their haters, the lyrics say "Don't need to see you anymore, This is the last farewell. Don't got no words to tell, Don't even apologize". However, they ended up addressing haters and hate in other songs, like UGH! but they went way beyond flexing. They talked about how hate is a powerful tool to make social changes, but it is too often wasted (especially online). The song also addresses how that kind of hate can impact the person who receives it in a life changing way. In the song IDOL, they celebrate the fact that they love themselves as kpop idols, basically saying "You can call me an artist or idol ,i don't care, i love myself." BTS don't lack substance, maybe except in the song Dynamite, but that song was not written by them as it is all in English and it was released during the pandemic to spread fun and joy.

Thanks for checking out BTS. I know that MicDrop is usually recommended to catch attention and make new people interested in the band but personally I don’t consider this song as a deep one. It’s just a catchy diss track with good music production. It would make more sense if you know the story of the group and settings back then when it was released. At that point in time they were noticed by western music market for the first time and were looked down as nobody expected them to top the charts for a long time. They were also attacked by other K-pop labels out of jealousy to their success. So the track was needed to release their feelings into something positive. Their B-sides have much more meaning attached but it also often refers to Korean society and culture and due to this many of the references might be lost by westerners (unless you watch an explanation video). If you’re ready for this I’d recommend to listen to Bapsae or to Spring day (with the explanation of Italian ARMY). Otherwise you might want to check their Born singer performance. The lyrics of it reflects on their past. Or you might want to check one of other popular song Fake love. I won’t suggest their solo stuff only for you to explore the band first before moving to individual members. Thanks for your reaction, after a tough work week it has been something I really needed💜

I’m going to suggest you try something completely different of BTS. These guys are the most popular band in the world because of their amazing ability to not only sing, rap and dance, but also write, compose and produce their own work. I would like you to watch them singing “Magic Shop” live. This was written by one of the seven members- the rappers also write their own lyrics. Jungkook wrote this song for their fans- Army. It is completely different from Mic Drop and will help set you on the path to discovering BTS. BTS has transcended from their origins of K-POP and have broken records previously held by The Beatles.

In my humble opinion, BTS flexing on haters is always a real thing since the hate and obstacles they have received when they had nothing can never be compared considering how far they have gotten and where they stand now... While Blackpink always got the support from one of the richest label out there so I don't really think they have anything to really flex on. And reviewing their song, they're all just of one type. And BTS has this wide variety of genres and masterpieces you'll ever see.... P.S.: Loved your reaction. Hope to see more of BTS from you💜💜💜💜💜

Well, like others I will say thanks for giving your honest opinion. That said, it's really funny to hear you say that you want more depth from BTS, because depth and amazing lyrics is what they are all about. But even amazing lyricists have need to write a fun clap-back for haters now and again. BTS has an extensive discography of over 300 songs covering so many genres. They do this in combination with amazing choreography, fantastic art direction, a humble spirit, authenticity and deep respect for their fandom, ARMY. As a group, their members are known for their lyricism. Their success, which did not come easily, is a result of the fact that they wrote music that touched the hearts of people around the world. So if you really want to understand BTS, I suggest you try a few more songs in order to get to know them better. Songs like Fake Love, Tomorrow, Black Swan, No More Dream, Young Forever, Not Today, Life Goes on, Magic Shop, the Truth Untold--I could go on and on and on... Their Map of the Soul album was an exploration of Karl Jung..so yeah, they are not your average music group. Also, the solo work of the members is also amazing. Trust me, you'll like BTS music if you listen without prejudice.
