Great video, and well explained. You filled from the middle plug, which I have never done because the chance of air getting into the case. I have always filled from the bottom plug. Of course, it's also important to take it slowly to avoid those air bubbles. I also remove the vertical drive to inspect the U-joint and watch the grease escape from the gimbal bearing. You want to be sure to add enough grease until the new runs out, and to catch it before a mess is made. Just my way of doing the same work. Thanks for your contribution!

This was a very insightful video. If, once I have done an oil change, after I run it for a short period of time, I lose oil pressure. When I remove the oil filter the oil is black and appears to have water in it. Would you be willing to provide a cause for this issue, and possible a recommended fix. Hopefully short of replacing the engine. I would be grateful. Thanks.

Suppose to fill it from the bottom only until it comes out of the middle,then put middle screw in n fill the rest from the top.run engine n put in gear forward n reverse the recheck the dip stick top screw.those oil pumps work well . I have one.

You should always pump outdrive oil from bottom plug. Unfortunately I learned that hard way and my outdrive top gears melted.

I also have a Four Winns with a Cobra OMC Motor. It was in the shop for 3 months with the carb rebuilt and gears all changed out because the engine locked up. Now it’s stalling when accelerating so I’m thinking it could be a fuel line issue. Have you ever changed the fuel lines on yours before?

I have the same boat but mine has the 5.8 cobra what oil typ would you recommend

Yelp pump from bottom to get all the air out or it will hurt .

I'm no expert, but isn't the cooling water supposed to be coming out the center of the prop along with the exhaust gases?

hey do you monitor your comments??? if so i have a OMC cobra 2 with a 5.7. the 5.7 will only rev to 4200 and it only will go 45mph. it gets to 45mph really fast but dead stops at 4200rpm. Any idea?
