Chris i must say you`ve made my experience as a Land Rover owner (`96 300tdi Disco 1) here in Grenada West Indies a lot less horrifying! I`ve been able to do almost everything on my truck by myself with the help of your very informative and detailed videos, which build confidence and motivates people like myself who have little or in some cases no knowledge of the mechanical workings of a vehicle. So far i`ve done quite a bit as far as the cooling system, head gasket, EGR blanking, valve adjustments etc. however now im having some electrical issues blowing fuses for the indicator switch. I`ve tried swapping out the switch for two different ones from some freelanders that were in a scrap yard but problem still exists. As a matter of fact the fuse blows when the switch is not even installed and as soon as i turn on the ignition. I don`t have a probe but i do have a fluke multimeter. Any suggestions or methods i should use in order to figure out what the problem might be.(should i remove the fuse box/panel and check it for shorts) ??
BTW, thank you for doing these videos. I'm in Los Angeles, and unfortunately, I'm not at all mechanically inclined but I'd like to be somewhat self-sufficient. I appreciate your straightforward approach to teaching these tasks. I purchased my '95 RRC about six months ago, and while the original owner cared for it well for a long time, the intermittent owner was pretty awful to the truck for about 18 months. Trying to figure out what that guy did to the electrical systems... So thanks again for this tutorial.
so when you go wiggle wire harness and find the short does the bulb dim or go out completely as ive watched twi vids and both had light dim when found and other the bulb went out,i couldnt figure out why the bulb would go out because wouldnt this create a series circuit thus dimming both bulbs (pretend its a headlight circuit) as they now share the same circuit?
*So , Put a bulb to light by getting the power of where the fuse keeps blowing, Then wiggle wires around until lights either flicker or turn off and if it dims or turns off your around the short circuit?*
