Basic techniques for blacksmithing with an induction forge.
This video shows a variety of heating (and heat treating) techniques from a variety of projects but skips the forging parts.
I produced this as a companion to my article in the May 2016 issue of the Saltfork Craftsmen newsletter: www.saltforkcraftsmen.org/News....

Very good video, again! I especially liked the demo of heating sheet metal at the end of the work coil.

Eric, thank you for sharing this with us. I'm not sure why more blacksmiths have not adopted this method heating steel. Anyway, I see induction heating for the hobbyist blacksmith as a way of the future. My only concern is the unit's reliability, so I'm waiting to see how your machine holds up before I buy mine.

Thank you for sharing this info. I have had my induction forge for about three years now and wish I had bought one sooner. What is the material you have wrapped around the coil, and where did you buy it? When I bought mine the only suitable material was horribly expensive. Thanks again!

There’s a Facebook page called bladesmithing for beginners that I’m sure a lot of us would appreciate you joining if you were willing! Thanks again for the video!

Hey Eric I’m about 7 miles from Tinker AFB. If you’re able would you be willing to answer some questions about this? I’d like to know how expensive this set up is to build/acquire and how expensive it is to run. I’m an amateur blacksmith with a degree in chemistry, so I really appreciate this approach to hearing the stock. Currently running an unfinished wood/coal forge and would love a set up similar to this. If you’re willing, I can DM you my contact info and we can talk more? Thanks so much and have a great one man!

Hello, How are you. I have a team similar to yours. I need to heat a cylinder with an approximate diameter of 15 inches. And 2 inches thick I need to heat it only on the inside. And tried with many devices and none works, I would like to know if you could support me. Greetings, very good day
