James it’s facts bro, you can pretty much get through the calculus series without this. There are lots of other graphing utilities on the computer. Desmos is a good one
In high school we were encouraged to only use a scientific calculator and weren't allowed a graphical calculator during exams. I'm now in college and this is still the case. (EE student) Though if I really need it, I just use the desmos website for sine graphs and such, like the other commenter said.
my professor posted this online on canvas as a resource to help us better understand how to use this confusing mathematical gadget lol Extremely helpful, thank you so much
that is because you are pressing the minus button for -2. THat happened to me too. You need to press the button under the 3 and then press to and then it should work.
Had the same issue. Quick google search fixed it: If you are trying to graph on your TI83/84 and you get the INVALID DIM error, then this usually means your PLOT is turned on. ... A good rule of thumb is, anytime you are using the STATPLOT, be sure to turn OFF your PLOT when you are finished. That way you will avoid the INVALID DIM Error in the future
Wow, this video was very helpful. I have never used one of these calculators before and it is a requirement for my Math class this semester. Naturally I looked to RU-vid for a video on how to use it and found yours. I feel much better that I know how to use it a bit. Thank you!
This video helps A TON, I have STAAR test tomorrow and I just know how to use a graphing calculator, I have not use an graphing due to I am a online student and now I am completely clueless about how to use it. Thanks for the help!
If people are having trouble with the ERR:DIM MISMATCH, it can be fixed by clearing all other y = and deselecting all plots (they will be in a black box and you can deselect it by pressing enter on it).
this is not funny to me but its so funny to me because i remember being there. I am just a lover of math and I had one I was not using so I gave it to my nephew who will be taking the psat this year. he is going to have to starting learning this today. im sure you did fine on the psat and that you will rock sats. best wishes.
I'm back in college for the second time in my life. First time I was 18, I am now 35 😅 and in algebra 150. I didn't even pass algebra in high school... I think you just became my new best friend.
Wow, I was struggling so much to figure out all the buttons on my new calculator and I didn't even want to touch it. This video legitimately helped me out so much, I can actually graph my equations now! Thank you so much. However, how would you find the intersection of two separate equations?
Excellent question! Start by graphing them both in the Y= screen. When they are both entered in, go to your graph screen. You should be able to see where the two cross, but if not adjust your window size Now press [2nd] [Trace] to bring up the calc menu for graphs. There you will find an option to calculate the intersection. For this you'll select a point to the left, and right of the intersection, as well as make a "guess" where they cross. The calculator will do the rest. :^D
Watching this the week before my first week of college... My major has nothing to do with math but I have to get through those classes and I'm terrified
Yes, the Ti-82 has a very similar graphing set up so you should have no issues. To double check this I fired up my Ti-82 and graphed the equations in the video with no issue. Keep up the good work! :^D
@@MySecretMathTutor Not only did you respond to a comment on a 4-year old video, but even checked if the TI-82 works. That deserves high respect. I did end up buying the 82 and it works great! Thanks, my man
@BLUE The menu system on an 86 feels a bit different, but all of the important functions are still there. The menu system will be similar to a Ti-85 as well. Here is a video where I use it... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aYh-3nnWvLY.html
See you’re smart to look up how to do this because I didn’t lmfao and I wasted time trying to figure out how to do it b it ended up just wasting time because I couldn’t figure out how to 😅
I’m using Kahn academy, and went from solving quadratic systems myself, to needing a calculator, but with no instruction on how to use a graphing calculator lol Thanks
I did exactly what the video said but the graph looks different on mine then it is on his. I double checked it and it’s the exact same equation so I’m not sure what’s going on. 😭
Sounds like your mode is set to "math print." This is an option that is common with the newer line of Ti-84 calculators. I like to use "classic." To switch between the two press [MODE]. One of the first few options will have either math print, or classic highlighted. Select one and the press [Enter]. Hopefully that helps out. :^D
I'm confused. I have a TI-83 Plus and when I graph the second equation after setting my window range to 6 as you did, it actually shows up immediately without having to enlarge the window again. My equation looks the exact same as yours, but the graph looks completely different. EDIT: Wait a minute, I just cleared it from the second Y and put it in the first one and now it looks correct. WTF is happening? Now I just redid it the exact same way as the first time, with the first equation and then the second one exactly as you have it and now it appears correctly. I have no idea why it looked weird the first time. It was coming down from the upper left quadrant towards 1 on the y-axis and not moving up to the right from 20 on the x-axis. Not sure what happened, but I hope it doesn't happen again.
So when I go to input the - 2 X it is still in the powers postion. How do I input it as seen on the screen? I have a TI-84 just bought 2 days ago. Help please
I changed the window parameters, to see how it worked, and now when I try to graph it says I need to edit the window range... edit to what?? I've put random numbers
Double check to see that the min is less than the max on the window. Another thing to check is if you have used the negative sign or the minus sign. In my experience, both of these are common problems when setting the window size. :^D
ok so um my arrow down when adjusting frame size gives me an error message. Also when typing in the x carrot three how do I get out of the exponent. It puts the 2x as part of the exponent
I was taking the psat and I knew that it could do what I needed it to do but then I couldn’t figure out how to do it and I wasted time trying to figure out how to use it 🥲
Are there any online calculators that can do the same functions as a Ti-83? I don't have a calculator currently so I need to use on online and I don't know which one to use.
Type: 2nd then + to access the memory. Then scroll to "reset". Arrow the top tab over to ALL and press enter. Make sure you have all programs and Apps on your computer through TI-Connect before resetting.
What should I do if the second point doesn’t graph? I have it up to the 4:00 min mark but when I hit graph, only the first point is on the graph. Is there something wrong in my settings? I also made sure that my equal sign was selected, yet it still doesn’t graph the second equation. When I go back to y= it doesn’t show the = being highlighted black anymore
I gave handed down my niece my calculator after transferring to a 4 year year school where it was required for the Time Value of money in intermediate accounting, and business static class in my first 2 years and she never brought it back because she lost it on campus which is okay. I should make her pay for it but I'll get the better one with the backlight and color. Saw it on amazon for $150 for te earlier model but really, I'm looking for the new one but will find out the difference before I do because I know you can upload new updates and features plus programs using the app from the ti 84 I think plus?
Its true they have added some new things you can do! I really like the latest one that has a backlit screen in color. The only down side is I forget to recharge it from time to time. I never really have this problem with my older Ti-83, because I can just pop in some new batteries.
@@MySecretMathTutor Yeah. I saw the HP version for $100 on Amazon renewed which is ok. I'll make sure it comes rith all materials. That one has a backlit LCD and full features for extra classes like English. I'm going to see if my local. BB has it so wish me luck and thanks for responding. If not, I'll order or from Amazon and shouldn't have to buy these calculators are so cool now you can play Tetris on the most powerful ones 😂 I remember uploading Mario and Zelda to my old kne and it worked! so can you imagine! I will check if you can do the same with HP's Prime. It came out last year but they canceled it. I have no idea why?
