Mica Galvao in this video uses a combination of closed guard off balance, pendulum sweep off balance and back control maintenance to completely keep Andy on the defensive from the very beginning of the match.
Mica has shown that you don't need flashy guards to dominate at the highest levels but a solid understanding of the fundamentals. Notice how he is constantly attacking from the closed guard and never giving his opponent any time to escape the position.
