That was highly entertaining.......and fun to watch. To each his/her own, but I use 20# Berkley/Trilene Big Game mono in those situations ( or even down to 17#, if the cover ain't as thick or heavy ). That way, I can SLAM the hookset, and it's a perfect hookset nearly every time because I'm not ripping it right out of the fish's mouth, like ya would with braid & "too strong" of a hookset. The line is tough enough, that they simply can't break it. The only problem would be a fish wrapping around wood, but then, it doesn't matter WHAT line you're using, a tree is A TREE. All anyone can do, is motor over to the wood, and hope the fish is still on. Great video.

On some of the heavy pressured lakes I fish on,it almost seems the night bite in summer is the only way to catch those quality fish from those lakes.Ever run into that?

A week ago I took my son to an all night fishing derby and man did we get almost eaten alive by mosquitoes. We definitely experienced "Squito hell" LOL. Also I got about 6 backlashes in the dark because it was just super hard to see what I was doing I actually just just stopped casting. I just invested in a spinner combo because baitcasters in the dark are no bueno when you can't see when your line hits the water to thumb your spool and stop that spool from spinning at the right time.

ThresherFishing largemouth bass just don't fight the same thresher. Stick to the salt! I went to lake corpus for the first time on father's day though, caught 3 bass, two 5lbs and 1 3lb. Only bites I had were medium dive crank off a point, pretty close to shore.

ThresherFishing haha no, the family was just hanging out near the water, dad wanted to go out on the kayaks, went to the nearest point and caught all 3 within 30-45 min. Mid morning too. Was one after another, two 5lb were about 18", the 3lb was about 15". But I still can't catch a dang slot red here on the flats

OK time for some good old fashioned wisdom. I do enjoy your videos and I want to keep enjoying them. I could not help but notice when you run you are not wearing your lifejacket or kill switch. And your night run did not include lights on your boat. If you want yourselves to be taken as serious anglers, I would suggest you have fun and at the same time set a good example. Besides I know at your age you think your bullet proof but that only applies to Super Man. Have fun make lots of great videos but most importantly BE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!

LFG, I've seen this done a couple times and need an explanation :) When you are trying to remove the hook from the fishes mouth, what are you doing when you slap it down? Looks like you are popping them in the mouth :)

Using the flat part of your hand to hit hammer the hook out like you would hit a nail. Quick and easy

if the hook is in too deep, sometimes it is too hard to try to wiggle the hook out, so by hitting the eye of the hook like you saw him doing, it pops it out

Question (off topic): I have a California fishing license. If I'm shore fishing or creek fishing, am I able to carry 3 poles with a regular fishing license, even if I fish with only one pole at a time? Or, do I have to pay the addition fee charge for each pole?

The 2 of you need to invest in mesh bug suits which are light weight and allow air to flow through them and spray them down with bug spray and keep them in a resealable bag. I keep 2 in my fishing backpack jacket and pant combo and never get eaten alive. The trick is to get the bug repellent in a squirt bottle to pour into the bag with the jacket and pants in them to let the bug juice soak in.
