Just wanted to tell you THANK YOU! I have been studying your videos for a while now. I went out today set to catch bluegill. I used everything you said. And I caught all the bluegill I could eat! Thank you so much! My son was so proud of me
6:04. When you said "pretty good large jaw" I honestly got a little water in my eyes. Probably just allergies, but my grandpa, who recently passed, used to say the exact same thing with every largemouth we caught...
I have been watching you from Sydney Australia durrng this terrible time , I dont fish rivers or fresh water but I love the way you explain things and talk gently and quietly , without swear words , without exaggeration , just like a southern gentleman mostly . STAY SAFE and keep well AND KEEP EM COMING
I like how you use equipment that makes fishing fun. I understand sometimes we need to upsize our rod and line but the majority of the time some 10lb-12lb line is more than enough. Who wants to fish and not give the fish any chance to fight. When you got 50-60lb braid and 17-30lb floro the fish can’t fight at all, you just drag them in and there is no sport to it at all. It doesn’t take any skill to hook a 3lb bass on 60lb line on a broomstick and drag them in. Thanks for making it fun and giving the fish a chance.
Going fishing with Richard Gene would probably be the fishing trip of your life. Not only would you have a great time but the amount of practical knowledge you’d pick up about river and lake fishing would be instrumental in passing onto others who love the great outdoors . This is a fantastic channel. Luv ya Richard. .
I can’t get enough of your videos Richard Gene!!! My whole family & friends are subscribed and watch all your videos!! We love watching what you do!! Please keep em coming brother!!
Man Mr Gene you remind me of my late Uncle Tom that taught me most all I know about fishing. Thank you for this channel when I’m at work and can’t fish. Even though I’m almost 40 you have taught me so many new techniques that I have added to my arsenal. I thought I knew a lot about fishing but GahhhLee Bumm I don’t as much I thunk I did. 😊
It’s his name! I’d watch him no matter what he did. If he was “Richard Gene the peanut butter and jelly makin’ machine” I’d still watch him!! But I’m glad he chose fishing!! Lol, Fish On Richard! Wooooooo!
Mr. Gene I love the converses I love the dialogue I just absolutely love the whole concept🤙 I smile every time I see and upload I go “Ooooweee Look Here ” in my Richard voice😂
The last time I had a chance to fish my home waters of Fort Loudon Lake I caught a 5lb largemouth on a Texas rigged short mud-color worm in August. August of 1986, that is. Edit: Like Richard, we had a lot of fun catching what we called, "schoolie bass" on light tackle. Sometimes it seemed to not matter what you threw at them they would hit it. A "hawg" schoolie was 3lbs and most ran between 1 and 2 but we caught them until our arms were tired sometimes. Every once in awhile you'd catch a surprise. My best "schoolie" surprise was over 6lbs. Good memories.
I went on youtube and saw a new RGTM video!! Richard that was a good video, and you explain what you are doing so well. God Bless and keep the videos coming!! Wooo!!
I just have to get over there, I'm close enough in a neighbor state. I'd like to meet you and two other men I follow on the Tennessee. Thanks so much for doing what you do 👍.
RICHARD GENE IS THE BEST!!! I've learned so much from you that I decided to start my own fishing channel. Keep doin what you do! I'm talkin, WOOOOO!!!!
Dang I can’t get enough of the Machine!! You are by far my most favorite fishin feller on RU-vid or anywhere else for that matter!!! Thanks a bunch for putting these videos out here for all us to watch.
There's nothing like talking about how I've had too much coffee then yelling out, "Go fishin' when ye can bacawse it's gooooood fer ye!" and a female coworker look at me surprised then laugh and say, "You watch the machine, too?" Then we go into our own fishing stories. Unexpected and a good time. Love it, Richard. I love going fishing with you.
I fished with my best friend for yrs and he always fished soft baits, back then mainly worms. He kicked my ass every time as he used to say, finesse fishing a worm. Exactly like you do. I sure am sad he's gone but you can't take the memories. God bless you and keep you safe in these crazy days.
We enjoy watching your videos. My husband was in walmart tonight and there was a young woman with her little boy. She was buying some fishing equipment because he wanted to go fishing so bad after watching your videos. My husband suggested she needed to get him a life jacket to keep him safe. The little boy said, but Richard Gene doesn't wear one. Could you possibly mention on your videos that it is a good idea to wear life jackets ? So many kids watch you.
Idk what it is but there's something about them Texas rigged zoom ribbon tailed worms (( 6 inch red shad, pumpkin seed and June bug are my favorite)) and lizards. ( moccasin blue, green pumpkin, solid black and watermelon seed are my favorites as well)) growing up as a kid my pops introduce me to them lures and I loved them ever since , plus that THUMP! of a bass is heart pounding then setting the hook ya gotta love it man, I caught my personal best large mouth on the June bug zoom worm and I swear he weighed 9 or ten pounds just peeling drag. Awesome video ol Gene keep on fishin 🎣
My favorite on our river is the tube worm in any color that mimics our crayfish. I however do cut a nickels worth of night crawler and slide it up the hook into the tube worm cavity. I make my own tube jigs with 90 degree bends in the lead head which I force inside the worm and punch the eye of hook through the body. The night crawler increases the effectiveness tremendously. (Nikko hellgrammite baits may replace tubes in my future) very impressed with their ability to catch most species esp. spots and smallies.
Richard would you please show how to set up our lines using these worms and craws. What hooks go with what and how to insert hooks, some of us are just starting to fish for bass and haven’t figured out the rigging or sizes that go together. Thank you love your videos.
You can see the catfish when he hit the line right before Richard gene set the hook- I’ve had them nearly rip the rod out of my hands on a crank bait. They always hit so hard!
just want to say thank you for these informative and fun videos. Thanks to you I have been able to learn enough to get my 6 year old daughter addicted to fishing.
Richard, Jimmy Houston says it doesn't matter what color you use as long as it has some RED on it. LOL. You are one of the best I've ever seen. Keep on keeping on with the great videos. And by the way Thanks for keeping Ernie Lee's memory alive.
Mr Gene you need to hit the coosa in April and Throw them lizards in the grass points around creeks. Hold the rod with 2 hands. There ain’t nothing like them TN river Largemouths I agree but there is something about them COOSA RIVER SPOTS!
Just wanted to say I usually throw it on 15lb braid to 10-12lb floro if the waters clearer. Usually its on my 6'9" med light Shimano Zodias with a 1000 stradic ci4+.
Lizard was the first plastic bait I ever used, got my bass addiction going 20 years ago 🤪 I was throwing it top water though. Never even occurred to me to use a weight when I was younger.
Dang car! I can feel it was watered down some from the usual Outro Signature RGTFM Crunkness. RGTFM is forever the Man!...All Hail the Fishin Machine!😉
