I started playing Bass at 14 back in 1975, Funk, Jazz, Fusion , Reggae, Soul and R&B background, I started going back to my Childhood Church Roots in 1998 and have found that my Previous music background is VERY Implemental in my playing in Church.

Its interesting that a religion based on self-sacrifice has music that is so showboaty. I'm a bass player, so I dig this, but something about chops in Gospel music seems contradictory. I know it comes from other places where its supposed to be about exalting god, not the player, but as an audience member and player it doesnt feel that way. It's probably because I don't believe in god, maybe it would feel different if I did.
