Indecision can kill your day, sometimes you just have to be more committed otherwise you end up chasing rather than fishing. It also sounds like you thought you were making adjustments yet in reality you were just changing water and going back to the same technique that wasn’t working, not sure if I’m reading this correctly, but it may be worth asking yourself were you really making adjustments or just chasing different water. Great video and glad to see you reflect on both the good and bad and how to get better. Go get ‘em on Grand!!

Appreciate it brother! I was searching the lake to find a hot area, so yes, I kept running it. I just knew it’s potential. I saw it too much in about practice. When you would roll across the right spot, you would get amazing in about 10 minutes.

I dropped this same comment on Tadd's Smith day 1 video. Can y'all get the crew together, even if virtual, for a BAT or something similar to the video that BASS just released on the Open's schedule? We need this in our lives.

You had 6lb test on a bait caster? What kind of rod were you using?
@AndrewUpshawFishing
@AndrewUpshawFishing 2 года назад
I was using a 7’3” Magnum Hammer by Lew’s. And yes, I use 6lb a lot on a bait caster. It’s not as scary as it sounds. Just have to baby it a little more

I think if one looks at the 'major league' guys. I think they fish somewhat differently. To other tournament anglers.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 года назад
What do I mean? I happened to listen. To one of the MLF anglers. Who talked about how. They always liked to have their live updates. Of weight of fish. Being caught by other anglers. In other parts of the fishery. In real time. What it did they explained. Is that it told them pretty quickly. If they were falling behind the field. They probably needed to change things around. Or alternatively. If they were pretty much. Hitting whatever 'quota' of catches. They needed to. In comparison to everyone else. It might lead them. To look at their fishing. In another way.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 года назад
An example would be Ott De Foe. Who would do a piece. About his favorite 'October' month lures to fish. And you listen to it. You realize. Wow. This is what actually happens. At the 'major league' levels in fishing. They don't actually fish the complete day. At all. They are constantly taking half hours. Out of the day. To do what? They combine actual fishing. And practice fishing. Together in the same expedition. On the same day. They are different to other anglers. And it is I think. One of the key differences. Between that fishing. At the top level. And other tournament anglers. Who are very good at what they do. Except, it's about exercising. A different level of control. Over events and how they are happening. That those really successful guys. At the very top. Are able to do.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 года назад
It's the same way in stock markets. By the way. Real time information is super important. To those guys too. They will take a half an hour. Here and there. Even in the most severe and punishing. Trading conditions. In order to test out some ideas. Even when they are having. A successful trading day. Most importantly. When that is happening. They'd try to play. Devil's advocate. To their own trading strategy. They'll often try to break. Their own strategy. To see what ways. It is vulnerable. To changes in demand. Or changes in supply. When those anglers. Who fish in those top professional circuits. Are keeping pace. With the rest the competition field. Automatically. Instead of trying to hammer the same thing. They are successful on. That day. They will try to anticipate. Another emergent bite pattern. That may come into existence. And become dominant. On the second day. They're planning ahead. To the second day. Even as they're busy. In the middle. Of fishing on the first.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 года назад
It's very interesting. To look at how those anglers. Such as Ott De Foe approach their fishing. When the move away from fishing proper. To take a half of an hour. If they can. In their tournament. They have a sequence of bait and lure types. That they will cycle through. That they will utilize. In a certain situation. Just to cover water with it. To use it as a search bait. To gain some indicators. Of how the pattern of bite. Might be changing (some locations or types of water that were not playing into the strategy at the moment). Could come online. And be used. As part of the strategy. As the days move on. Edwin Evers talks about it. He's never really sure. If the fish do actually 'move' physically. Or that certain fish. In certain places. Are catch-able at some times. And are not catch-able. At others. We don't really know. What the answer is.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 года назад
And if you think about it. On a lake such as Grand. If the latter is true. That fish don't really move. As much as we would like to think. Instead that some fish. Are easier to catch. In a certain location. Or not. At other times. Then it implies. That what those 'major league' guys are doing. The folks like Ott De Foe. What they are doing. By just doing enough. To remain 'level' with the competition field. And no more. Sort of like. In a sprint race. One only needs to win the race. By as much as is required. To win the race. One does not have to really. Blow the competition away (as Ott himself mentions, that he may need some of his locations on day two, that he has worked on in day one). And a good way. To give some areas a rest. As much as possible. And still find something. Useful to do with one's time. Is to practice fish. For a half an hour. If one has the opportunity.

May I say that you might be getting to dependent on seeing fish on the livescope?
@AndrewUpshawFishing
@AndrewUpshawFishing 2 года назад
So that’s an interesting point. I believe there are certain situations where it’s absolutely necessary to stare at that unit. While others times it’s more irrelevant. For catching the herring eaters, it’s essential. I could have found a different pattern, but I believed that to be my best shot to win the whole tournament. Case in point, Powronzik won the event using active target and fishing said herring eaters. I just didn’t find the right one or two places that weren’t getting a ton of pressure. I was literally 200 yards from Powroznik and saw him catch them. So I was at least close! Lol
