This song was inspired by a song called “Flushed from the Bathroom of your Heart” sung by Johnny Cash on his Folsom Prison album, and my memories of the very hot summer of 1976 when I was a student . There was a water shortage and the media exhorted us all to “bath with a friend”. Just a bit of light-hearted nonsense.😉🎶
Bath Time Baby
I was young, so naïve, and impressed with your green credentials.
You lured me with your tofu tales and bulging burgers made of lentils.
As our love grew wilder and the summer grew hotter
You said, “Let’s bathe together! Save the planet, save some water.
Be My Bath Time Baby. Oo-oo
Be My Bath Time Baby.”
So we frolicked through those heatwave days
Like a crazy pair of frisky otters,
Our consciences clean as our skin,
While we were rationing our precious water
But the bubbles started poppin’ when I found that you were hoppin’
Into someone else’s bath tub when you thought I wasn’t lookin’
No more Bath Time, Baby. Oo-oo
No more Bath Time, Baby.
So say goodbye, bye bye to your Bath Time Baby.
I was a fool, such a fool to let this romance start
You’re a cheapskate and a loser
And I’m going to remove ya
To share my bath-time bliss-time
With a more deserving lover,
Now you’re circling the plug hole
Disappearing down the drain of my heart. X3
