I was 5 when this came out. I'll never forget the hype for this movie. Seriously, since 89 I haven't seen anything like it. Best movie experience of my childhood
I was 15, and we had a Taco Bell just down the road from me, and they decked out the restaurant with posters and such for Batman. The movie was insanely popular that year (well, at least it was well hyped if nothing else, I don't know if it grossed the most).
One of my favorite childhood memories...my family was lower middle class. Dad worked all the time and we didn't get to see him often as he had to provide but he took the day off when Batman came out because me and him both commonly were fans of the character and had talked about this movie for months...we went to taco bell and got the cubs and had a great taco dinner, before meeting my uncle and cousin at the packed house theater and just got lost in what was then the ultimate superhero film. Great movie shared with great family. I hope Tim burton and Michael Keaton knows how many incredible memories they created for thousands of people!
I had those cups at one point till the images faded completely on all of them and I threw them out. Still, they were pretty cool looking and I got a lot of mileage out of them.
I think it was even more popular than now because it was the first time A batman movie ever came out, people were literally paying to go see a movie watch the batman trailer and leave!
I saw the trailer for movie the first time in front of Indiana Jones and the last crusade and I was not going to leave after the movie trailer because I was waiting five years to see Indy since temple doom came out in 84.
I remember those cinnamon twists, quite tasty! I also remember the orange and vanilla twist cones at McDonalds with the Dick Tracy tie-in, perhaps a year later. Extra points if you remember Batman, Ghostbusters and Nintendo cereal.
@Johnlindsey289 Oh yeah! unfortunately I missed returns in the theater, but I wish I hadn't. Me and my brother had the toys, the T-shirts, the cards, "remember those?" I was crazy about the 90's cartoon and even the Adam West TV series. I still watch reruns of it on the hub. But back to the '89 movie, I loved it so much I even had a Joker poster on my wall.
I came to love Mexican food for the first time in my life thanks to Taco Bell; back then, just like you said. But after the 2000s, the franchise just went down the toilet. I remember I got such bad food poisoning from Taco Bell about 8 years ago that I never wanted to try it again.
Julio Mateo pizza hut gave me food poisoning too. I really think it has to do with the specific store, and emoyees handling the food, also quality kept.
