if you spent a year being tortured by the Joker only to find out you were replaced by someone else instead of being saved you'd probably hate Batman as well
@@elitedeath572 You don't know batman then. Batman is a tough one to crack. I hope you know all the robins he has are like sons to him and just letting jason die is not his morals. He is not that type of person and he is so weak that he won't allow himself to ditch someone so young. He is batman. nuff said.
Storm chaser I’m not saying he’s weak I know Batman was looking for Jason until he took in Tim Drake and when he was looking for Jason he almost got himself killed until Tim Drake figured out Bruce is Batman and trained him
@Ax Thizzle What do you mean that's exactly why it's good. Talking about jokers torture, talking about how his father figures just straight up abandoned him for 6 months, that's exactly how he should've been portrayed in the game, he's supposed to sound like he's going to cry any minute now.
Exactly he saw his son and saw how broken he was in that moment. That he couldn’t hurt the boy he rescued from Crime Alley who tried stealing the wheels off the batmobile. All he wanted was to be a good father for his family and to help each one of them. That’s why he forgave him despite what he did that night.
@@_Black_Lemonadenot just attention but most people go into the game not knowing the Arkham knight is Jason if he was just red hood most people already know the whole story
@ッCxrth It kinda wasn't it's because Jason Todd was like a son to batman and as a father you take full responsibillity for the misfortunes of your son.
SilentAssassin927 i sorta guess from the start when the knight said "you havent lost your touch" that it was him..having said that I really did like Rocksteadys take on the red hood story...I was much happier with it being him rather then shoehorning a new character into the role..If it was not Jason how could he have known all the personal stuff about Bruce in the game(oracle .....)
SilentAssassin927 i know what you man but i still give them major credit for the execution it all.I would prefer that rather then having them scarifying story by throwing in someone just to surprise us
They missed the Red Hoods character / motives. In the comics Jason forgived Bruce for not saving him, but was angry that the joker was still alive. He had hoped that Batman had killed him.
Yeah in the comics, he never hated Batman. He only hated his code. It didn't really give this Jason a good motive to kill Batman. It didn't even make sense why he had to create two personas.
Raiden Yeah but he hated his code. It was "no killing no matter who they are". Even if they are as bad as the Joker. He forgave Batman for not saving him but he didn't forgive him for not killing the Joker after.
I agree troy is talented but the issue is how this version of red hood was written, I think troy could've done a much better job with a better script, he pulled a darker and more aggressive and more dangerous version of hamil's joker and perfectly imitiated Kevin, it mostly falls on the writers and directors shoulders he might've immitiated Jensen too who knows.
@@therulerofthelastcentury871 Definitely gonna have to disagree on the implication of Jensen's one. His voice sounded _way_ too deep, he didn't really sounded like Red Hood
*Batman:* “I have to sneak up on him, take him by surprise...” 2:35: *Proceeds to grapple through a window directly under Jason, loudly smashing through the glass*
that makes absolutely no correlation with why he said that, truly it could be anyone. because batman has made so many enemies he can’t remember which one he spoiled with vengeance and revenge. so actually, it’s not narrowing it down.
@@jelly442 However, none of his enemies have ever refered to him as old man. Also, most of his villians wouldn't, or shouldn't know his age. The only people who'd know that are people who'd know him as Bruce and Batman. Narrow it down even further to the fact that the Arkham Knight was a young male, and that basically narrows it down to one of the Robins.
"I wish there were a real fight." This IS a real fight. It's a guilt ridden father fighting to get his traumatized and broken son to listen to him and come home. Bruce loves Jason. As much as he loves Richard, Tim, and Damian. They're his kids and he wants them safe.
Nah. The fights in this game were god awful - - they could’ve still had a better Boss Fight and incorporated good dialogue into them like they did with Deathstroke’s boss fight
@@firstlast9846 Though the boss fight wasn't good, it makes sense given that Jason would be aware that he can't fight Batman h2h so he would have to snipe him and rely on numbers.
no in this state of mind jason HATES batman with a passion joker implanted lies in this poor guys head for years beating him, joker knows he cant beat batman on his own but if he takes batmans apprentice he might have a chance. so yeah a hug is out of the question i can see that happening in the future once batman helps jason recover
I just love Kevin Conroy's masterful voice acting here. The gentleness that comes into his voice when he says that it's not too late is touching - such a difference from the usual stern, unforgiving tones of Batman.
You can really tell the amount of hell he went through, especially when he says "You left me in that abandoned wing in Arkham... for over a year... with HIM" That line right their says just how sadistic the Joker is.... And if I'm not mistaken, Jason was being held in Arkham Asylum during the 1st game. Broke my damn heart, cause in this moment Batman knew he was at fault for letting that happen to him...
He was tortured sadistically by Joker for over a whole year, let all the villain like Penguin, Two-face, Killer-Croc and etc. that was in the Asylum to have their turned to tortured him and was forced to eat spoiled food. Sorry but I blame Batman on this one for letting Joker lived. I don't care this time it's his fault for letting Jason went through hell. Also two of those thing I wrote happened in Arkham Knight Genesis.
Bats says he's Robin, he understands and he's not what he made him. Untrue, he WAS Robin, now he's the Arkham Knight turned Red Hood. No going back. If Batman really understood then he must've been tortured by Joker for over a year too both physically and mentally day in and day out barely getting any sleep. I think the last bit of what I said pretty much summarized that he is indeed what Joker made him. In the end Joker won. I don't know if Joker wanted Batman dead after his death but he certainly had fun messing with him and even in death he messed with him one last time, by driving his student away from him.
Victor Hugo .Ortiz Vargas Who still hates Tim Drake? Bruce or Jason? In the comics, Jason does nurture resentment for both Dick and Tim for a long time. Dick he resents because he felt that Bruce always wanted him be Dick 2.0 and felt that Dick was the favorite (which he IS actually right about). Tim he resents as his replacement.
***** In the comic and in "Under The Red Hood" (movie adaptation), that's the case. But for Arkham Knight, since the Joker is already dead, then the second best thing for Jason is killing the one who abandoned him when he needed him the most.
Batman didn't replace him quickly though, it was all part of Jokers physiological torture of Jason. If anything Bruce didnt take Tim on as Robin until probably years later.
He didn’t say anything to Batman. Batman said stuff to him and Jason demanded him to stop talking. If your gonna complain at least get your facts right.
I gotta say, I never knew about Batman's sidekicks stories and their relationships before. And when I played this game, I was every bit as shocked as Bruce to see Jason alive under that mask. After that, I've become a huge fan of DC.
Welcome to the dystopia that is DC. We have meetings and discuss topics lol, but when you die you die here, no Marvel, marvelous (no pun intended) resurrections..
This is how they should have made the boss fight Stage 1: 1-on-1 like with Deathstroke in Origins. Stage 2: It's Predator, but he's the only person you're up against, you can't use Detective mode to find him and he's using the same methods you are (hiding in grates, up on gargoyles) so it's like one big game of cat and mouse Stage 3: Arkham Knight reveals who he is and you get this boss fight.
1:14-1:41 I love how the room turns red when Jason prepares to hit down Batman. It not only shows he will become Red Hood in the future but also shows how he is just filled with so much hate after Batman left him to die by the hands of Joker.
as everyone else says it was kinda obvious that Jason was the Arkham Knight but it still got me when he confirmed it to Bruce you could just feel the pain and rage in his voice.. I hope they bring Jason into the upcoming DC movies he's a great character with a insane story
Maybe the first phase should've been trying to sneak up on sniper, 2nd phase out stealthing the other using gadgets and weapons to trap the other. 3rd phase being a fist fight.
4:30 where Batman says they can fix it together makes me tear up everytime. Batman extending the olive branch and deep down Jason knows he's telling the truth/is sincere. Amazing writing
I feel bad for Jason in this. He was tortured by joker for almost a year and was never rescued by batman or anyone else which caused him to feel unloved and useless and unworthy and even made him mad that batman wouldn't bother to try save his sidekick
Ilyas Adam That would be awesome in fact. And the thing would be cool its Scarecrow with that new apperance would be Jason. It would be more painful to Batman.
llanto209 I think i am the only one who didn't think that, i had a feeling that the Arkham Knight MIGHT be Jason Todd, but he really wasn't my first guess
llanto209 it was changed cause its original idea was a bruce Wayne clone stolen from hugh strange lab in arkham city.....it was leaked well before game was done
We're all thinking it. We all know it. Jason's dual pistols are AWESOME! I mean come on. Pistols that turn into a sniper! And the way they do it looks cool too. lol
Exactly Remember the part where he finds batman's weak point? There he only shot one bullet and left him. Like a menace, but I'd he wanted to. He could just dump mag him and let Bruce to die
nah he tries killing bruce multiple times but in the end batman was able to save him it's sad cause i feel his pain would've been traumatising being stuck with he joker for over a year thinking batman would save him.....
If it was simply just "Oh yeah, Arkham Knight is Jason, just cause" then it'd be shit, but the fact they put a twist on the Death In The Family story is really cool. Plus, I assumed the game would end with Jason, fully insane after the torture, declaring himself as Jokers legacy, and with Harley then killing him over that. Plus I thought there'd be some subplot where, as revenge, scarecrow captured Croc and tortured him while using him as a guinea pig for his toxin and would make him and Batman fight to the death.
Michael Mitchell Honestly, that ending would've been so much better. But have Batman on fear toxin so Croc is just horrifying, and make the battle seem near impossible to win, then end it with Batman becoming stronger and overcoming the fear toxin, taking down Croc, and slowly walking to scarecrow, who keeps attempting to poison Batman with the toxins, only to fail and have batman inject scarecrow with his own toxins.
brightfamia yeah I definitely had batman on fear toxin in mind, I was also thinking of the arkham knight, if he were an original character, joining forces with the court of owls to destroy Batman's presence in Gotham, this being the prophecy Azrael predicted, and the order of St Dumas aligning with batman to help take him down. Two armies fighting for the power of Gotham would be cool.
brightfamia Tbh, I'm thinking just now, why did they make Scarecrow the main antagonist of this game, and not just have the Knight and the Court ravage the city? I mean, scarecrow's cool, but each time his plan is a big fear toxin cloud, we saw that in Batman Begins :L
You know what I'd like. If instead of that J brand on his face you got to see a massive scar. Jason had scratched off his entire cheek to get rid of that brand
The_Pyromancer you know what, that does make sense, for someone who hated what had happened to him. But in a sick, twisted sense, he kept the brand intact as some reminder of what he felt he needed to do to avenge himself. Both sad, really.
Guys in the arkham knight comic he got rid of the scar then later on he fought joker and joker pinned him on the ground and carved the j on his face again with a sword
It's so interesting that after all Jason has done when it comes to facing Bruce again you can hear in his voice how close he is to breaking down. In those moments he is just like a pained young boy in front of his father
Troy Baker did such an amazing job as Jason Todd. I can hear the hurt, the betrayal, the anger in his voice. As someone who’s favorite robin is Jason it makes me happy to see him so well portrayed.
I don't care about how they made this reveal painfully obvious. The real crime here was the shitty boss fight. I was expecting an epic fight between Bruce and Jason, but instead I get Bruce trying to avoid Jason's sniper fire while sneaking up on him, so he could talk him down. I don't even think he hit Jason once. This whole thing was anti climactic and a complete disappointment.
Daniel Cainion I really, really, REALLY wanted a hand-to-hand combat sequence. They could have easily incorporated the dialogue they had in the game into a fight AND used the final shot of Jason prone on the ground looking up at Bruce and Bruce being unable to deliver the final blow. Agh. Would have been so much cooler, especially if it depicted Jason's anger and how he tends to unravel and become more desperate as his blind rage clouds his judgement (and if possible, Bruce's reluctance to seriously hurt him). But no, he goes up and hides. Seriously, would this kid, a guy who makes shitty, impulsive decisions (and gets himself killed BECAUSE of this in the comics) the more emotional he gets take the time to just sit and wait in the corner for the man he loathes to randomly wander into his sights? Idk. I haven't seen the entire walkthrough. Maybe it'd less out of character than I'm thinking if I'd watched the whole thing...
Troy did such a perfect job I literally almost cried. So many versions of this story but I think that THIS GAME had the best Jason Todd/joker scene. So powerful. Ugh.
Nope, in this game, it was obivious that Jason was the dark knight, the game was full of clues: the arkham knight knew exactly where to shoot in batman's armor so he could hurt him with a gun -while batman's armor is supposed to be able to withstand a few shoots without too much damage-. He knews all the batman's tactics . Also, as we have seen his tortures scenes with the Joker. Seen him later in the game was the only logical conclusion.
JTG 2102 for me it was because it was obvious that they were gonna make a big reveal on who it was in the end, and it wasn't gonna be someone who we had no idea who it was. Another thing for me is that this wasn't Troy Bakers first time voice acting Jason. In the dlc I could see the similarities between the two helmets and during the movie studios they went too far into Jason's back story.
PJ Silavwe I might not get the best response for this, but this game is what got me into hero’s and villains and stuff and I had no idea who that was or that there were multiple robins, I just thought robin was robin and he’d change his style from time to time
ClassicToonFan64 Considering all the REAL monsters that exist in the DC Universe, let alone the Arkhamverse (Man-Bat and Solomon Grundy, for example), the Mystery Inc. gang would be better off not getting into that business... at least, not without some gadgets and skills like the Bat-Family's. That said, it would be interesting to see how the current-gen consoles could be used to make them. Just look at the detail put into Arkham Knight's character models. We'd be able to get a talking dog that doesn't look as cartoonish as the one from the 2000s live action movie.
"Focus on what I want to achieve, and it will happen." That's my new driving words for when I go to work out at the gym. Just focus hard enough on lifting those weights, pushing yourself and eating the rights stuff and you will be slim and fit before you know it.
Overall, every Batman video game feels like if you're in a movie, but only you have full control into the next action to take place. This game is a masterpiece.
Kinda messed up really Batman: Alfred I found Jason Alfred: Todd?..... really..... Batman: yup.......... k bye poor old guy probs has 1000 questions the never got answered because they had to blow up the house second he got home.
+Straw Mann he was tortured by the joker for over a year. Knowing the kind of things the Joker is capable of that's got to be one of the worst versions of hell
0:10 batman-who are you arkham knight-it doesn't matter who we are what matters is are plan (takes off helmet) You never cared who I was till I put on the mask
I really wished there had been more dialogue between Bruce and Jason in this game. Especially now that Kevin Conroy has passed on, may he Rest In Peace.
rexkeelicarter i dont know why you wouldve expected a completely new character... i mean, it's not like that's exactly what they said he was... ...wait....
Rocker Cole No, the Harley Quinn one is set before the game. The Red hood DLC is set after the game. He doesn't become red hood until after he stops being Arkham knight. Plus, Black mask was still alive during the story.
Calling Alfred was the best move. Hearing Alfred's voice and sounding surprised, was the best proof that they actually thought he was dead Tears man, too many tears...
Batman: Jason, please. I'm not the friend who you're looking for, but I'm here for you. It's time for you to come home. Jason: Which home, Bruce?! The batcave? Or the place where you left me to die?
Akshar Patel It was obvious from moment The Arkham Knight started speaking that it was going to be Jason. Just by how he addressed Batman I knew it was him. On top of that, they keep flashing back to Jason being tortured by the Joker. It would have been much more shocking had the Knight started out dispassionate in the beginning, but over the course of the game he gets more and more unhinged to where he's ranting psychotically like a deranged maniac when he's revealed to be Jason.
I was not denying that the reveal was predicable because it was. What I am saying is that they did a great job with his character through the flashbacks and the emotion that comes from him after the reveal.
Man, Jason's story is really tragic. The whole game he sounded cold and deadly. Once he faced Batman, his voice was cracking, holding back tears, he really considered Bruce as his hero and his friend. He blamed Bruce for not saving him, but when he apologized, he realized it wasn't his fault, it was Joker's. Jason just had terrible luck, but that didn't mean Bruce didn't try everything to save him, and even after all the terrible things he has done as the Arkham Knight, he still wants to save him
