I think Anarky's speech about Batman being the reason for Gotham being "so messed up" is more applicable to an older Batman. At this point, Batman has only just begun to attract villains to himself, and I doubt anyone has noticed a pattern yet. Additionally, at this time, Gotham is not yet dominated by supervillains; the mob are still very much a major power force.

Anarky thinks that his way of peace can work which is killing ,destroying,blowing bombs but batman has his rule which is not killing ra 'sal ghul also thinks that killing can make peace there not evil just want everything to be in there own way but batman doesn't want that cause sometimes they fail in there plan kill inocent people also

In the Frank Miller "Return of the Dark Knight" comic/animated release, psychiatrist Bartholomew Wolper said the supervillians Batman fights were "narcissistic proxies", and that Batman was creating these psychotics with his ongoing war on crime. Wolper wound up getting killed though, interesting to see someone else argue the same idea.

True - but that does afford Anarky a certain credit, in a sense. He predicted the legend of Batman before anybody, even the Joker, saw what he could really do, and what he would come to represent. This "voice of the people" may be a perversion of his peoples' values, but you can't say he didn't know the crowd he was playing towards - he knew they would gravitate to a hero, both citizen and criminal alike, and sure enough, the hero trailed anarchy in his wake. He may not have lasted as a main-stay of the rogues gallery - but he's almost become something of a criminal prophet, who saw Batman not as the man, but as the people he would embody.

To be honest Batman had an opportunity to work with, mentor and help anarchy further his goals to make Gotham a better place which will not only help him in the long run but also make sure anarky does not hurt anyone in his pursuit of justice. Having anarky put in jail will only fuel his anger and hatred towards batman and the justice system making him more dangerous for society in the future.

@@94matheo We live in the 21st Century now. Those methods are no longer acceptable. Anarky’s method was to blow up the entire city. It might as well be what Putin is doing to Ukraine. He doesn’t care about the lives of innocent civilians he kills. That is not the way. Anarky’s talk of corruption is correct, but then he lays blame on those who don’t have the strength or means to fight. You really expect a parent with a family to take care of to put their lives (and their family’s lives) in danger just to fight a losing fight? Are you really going to kill a working civilian standing in your way who did nothing wrong except work and try to feed their family? That was what the thugs who targeted and killed random police in the name of “justice for George Floyd” did. That was what the January 6 rioters did to the Capitol Hill guards because they were upset with an election result. Anarky is named as such for a reason.

Speaking as a Batman fan, I see Anarky's point, but also disagree with him. Bruce is right: Anarky's ends don't justify his means. And the bastard really gets up on his high horse on Batman's case when he's one of the people exacerbating Gotham's criminal problems. Batman has no delusions of being a god. He protects human freedom, and life. Things is... having played through the Arkham games and witnessed the horror of what the criminals do, there is some truth when people say that "Thou shalt not kill" can be a very shaky rule to uphold. Make no mistake: Sparing people is a very hard thing to do, especially when they're monsters. But killing them, staining your hands with their blood, can be just as hard, especially for a man like Batman. Considering how many people have lost their lives to Joker, Penguin and many of Gotham's criminals though, Anarky has a point when he says crime is something can't always manage... it's something you have to end. To kill or not to kill? A hard choice to make. Batman will always choose the former, and frankly, we can't blame him. Many others will push him to do the latter, and again, we can't blame them either. I suppose it's one of the most fascinating parts of the dark knight.
@calunsagrenejr
@calunsagrenejr 9 лет назад
+ES21007 I don't think it's about killing vs not killing. Anarky is thinking on higher planes, in the abstract. His critique is not of Gotham (not necessarily anyway), but of real life. I think this is correct, seeing as how his original creators originally envisioned him, anyway.
@SamuelJamez17
@SamuelJamez17 8 лет назад
+ES21007 yes, anarky does prove a point. It';s like he is his own version of Batman to do the right thing. but there is two things wrong here. 1. he is an extremist. even the name itself spells anarky, the word itself means disorder, panic, choas. Everyone will panic if anarchy comes to play. it will be like the zombie apocolypse has happened. (you can tell he is an extremist and his actions are lead by his anger and hate when he says 'no, they are weak.' (he is very angry and somehow a bit ignorant if someone else does not agree with him) 2. anarky is taking the law in his own hands. thinking that he can do the law in his own way. Batman's actions are not above the law, he is around it (even though his actions can be extreme or unorthodox sometimes) trust me, if anarky does become a ruler if he succeeds, he will no different than the dictators or corrupt leaders he is trying to take them. he will probably rule with an iron fist because of his extremism
@BreakinBoog

that's not what anarchy means whatsoever. anarchism is a long-lived ideology which draws from itself two core principles: liberty and equality. Anarky is a poor representation of anarchy.

He's kinda right about his speech; we can't let the others decide for us what is right or what is wrong, our freedom is manipulated by politics or other powers. As for the corruption, it's normal he wants to make it stop and stand against it. Most of the people are scared of the consequences of their acts if they try to build an opposition to the power but some popular movements are trying to change the odds and make people react more about the corruption of the world. I don't support the idea of punishing all the bad ones by violence. Even if they have done wrong, they must have proper and equal justice or else we won't be more worthy than the hypocrites and manipulators. Society can be better if we all try to make it change for the best, not for money, fame or attention but for liberty, equality and respect towards everyone.

He thinks he can change the way things are by himself but that's impossible to do such a thing on his own, need the support of people to make things change for the best of all. That's how great revolutionists like Che Guevara, John Lennon, Martin Luther King and many others tried, they did it with the help of the people wanting to change the odds and erase injustice towards the weakest. A revolution is global, not personal.

Anarky actually is right, A community now means nothing, we no longer care for each other, why should we? We forget the fact that working together is the only way we can improve, A thousand years ago, people worked so that everyone could live, Farmers farmed for food so others wouldn't starve, Soldiers fought to protect others, we all worked together so that we could live to see another day, but not anymore, We work now for ourselves, we don't care about our community becoming stronger, we care about how we can afford the new Xbox, or the new Jordans on the Market, Not about helping others that are starving, those that live in third world countries whilst we live complacently on the top.

You know what fuck you, there are currently people today working their ass off to support their family, people literally make it their job to help people and make sacrifices to make that happen, and here you are tapping on a device which I’m sure that with the money you spent could’ve been donated, ranting about how life sucks because a fucking comic character told me so.

Although this is just a game and written scripts, I agree with his ideas and logic -- they especially apply to this real world. But, I dont agree with being so narrow-minded as to disregard the lives of innocent people among those you are after. If you have that much power then surely alternative methods can be executed. This is my first time hearing about this "villian". He stands out a great deal to me moreso than some others.
@DeathMessenger1988

You know what I find funny? Many of the things Anarky said, about Batman making Gotham dependent on him are true. But what's worse is how his supposed "whining", as so many comments call him, about Batman is right. Batman is just as self-righteous and arrogant as Anarky; everyone must follow HIS codes of conduct, especially the "no-killing" rule that is exactly to blame for the whole Arkham City problem. He only fights against the criminals, but not the system that breeds and empowers them. He thinks he's the only person fit to keep Gotham safe, when his constant failing at keeping innocent people from dying under his watch, BECAUSE of his rules, constantly proves him wrong. But enough of Batman. You know what the people calling Anarky whiner really are? They are the same parents and teachers that see kids being bullied at school, shrugs it off and says "oh, he's just a whiner, they're just playing around". Cowards often pass themselves as self-righteous politically correct snobs and bureaucrats, the same types that control the governments that breeds cities like Gotham City and "whining emos" like Anarky. "Oh, they're just being crybabies, everything is perfect in our pink-colored world, Blessed be God and America". These are often the people who whine when people point out the flaws in their masks.

I think you also need to consider that Anarky is just as bad as the things he fights against. He believes killing people that are truly innocent just because they do nothing? Not everyone can fight back. He sees victims just as guilty as the sinners he wants to get rid of. And the no kill rule is what he uses to seperate himself. Yes, he needs to fight corruption in the system (which I do see him do in the comics every once in a while), Batman wants to be a symbol. The people can use that symbol to empower, to do good things. Anarky just spouts his own propaganda if you think about it. He's almost a cult leader. He really has become like the monsters he fights. Something Batman does not want to become.
@DeathMessenger1988
@DeathMessenger1988 10 лет назад
zangetsu134 And what exactly Batman did with his "symbol of hope"? You see the results in Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and pretty much all of Batman's comics and movies. When you think about it, Batman is no better than Joker, because he's just as crazy. His insanity and obsession just so happens to be fighting criminals to compensate for his parents' murder. Anarky still makes better points than Batman, and if you stop to think about it, none of those he targeted are "friendly". The banks worked for Black Mask, as did the police(You can actually find a Riddler file with Anarky trying to tell Gordon to get out of the police, because 99% of the cops are on the take). Anarky sees the victims as guilty because THEY ARE. People in Gotham, no, the entire world are lazy and uncaring. They don't want to take action. Batman became a symbol, but he's the only one doing ANYTHING. It takes a few years for Gordon to jump on the "Let the Vigilante beat bad guys and dictate what to do with them" bandwagon. Like I said, Batman is only fighting the consequences of the disease, not the disease itself. Him trying to stop Arkham City as Bruce Wayne is THE ONLY TIME I've ever seen him invest in something that isn't a Batman gadget or something to earn more money to keep making more Batman gadgets. Let's not forget Batman created the Joker to start with(and from the looks of Joker's part on the game, it looks he like THREW him as opposed to Joker slipping or tripping). Batman IS the monster he's fightning. He is the one fueling Gotham's madness. Hugo Strange and Anarky made more sense, heck, Joker has made more sense than Batman ever has.
@DeathMessenger1988
@DeathMessenger1988 10 лет назад
zangetsu134 And consider that Batman could be considered as much a cult leader as you think Anarky to be. He makes himself a scary messianic figure. He takes in kids and indoctrinates them with his beliefs and rules. He targets a specific group and blames them for all of the world's evils. He eventually makes the entire city rely on him completely, while pretty much perpetuating the conditions that make them need him. The sacrifice of thousands is nothing if it keeps him from breaking his one rule, and never questions himself. The stories also constantly associate him with religious symbols and themes. Also, he claims to fight evil, when often the evil he fights is of his own doing, and he never sees fit to make up for that. Sounds familiar?

Roblox is right. Anarchy has an appropriate message, but his actions are no different from the common criminal in Gotham. And what's the alternative anyway? @Yudaisei0
@Yudaisei0 10 лет назад
Robloxman226 At least Anarchy admitted that he went to far and wanted to do good. I am saying he makes sense in the fact that all he said is true. Also it is funny that Batman in the Dark Knight Returns, does almost the same thing as Anarchy does, gather people to form his own group of masked vigilantes, opposing the government and carrying out his own sense of justice.
@Robloxman226
@Robloxman226 10 лет назад
Yudaisei0 If Anarchy wanted to argue politics, he could have done it in a civil manner. I agree, his motivations are legitimate, making him an awesome villain, but that's, again, through civil, political means, not through intimidation and making people fear him. He's a fool; his actions contradict his words. He spills lies thinking he's enlightened. Batman stopped him dead in his tracks. Also, the Dark Knight Returns was Frank Miller's reinterpretation of this character; this version is the moral, good-hearted Batman.
@Yudaisei0
@Yudaisei0 10 лет назад
By looking at the character and the people that work for him, Anarchy does not use intimidation and fear to get what he wants, because if you listen to his henchman's dialogues they joined him willingly and agree with his view. Another thing is, how can you argue politics in a civil manner, if the system is corrupt. In my opinion Anarchy thought the system was beyond saving and the only way was to start over, by getting rid of the most corrupt entities in the city. If you look at it from another point of view, Batman thinks the same, but to a lesser extent, thinking at the beginning of the game that he is enough to same this city and all other entities that uphold the law are corrupt. Even through he may have been a fool, similar to Batman, Anarchy was willing to learn from other and his own mistakes. For example, he wanted to know why Batman did not let the building be destroyed even through they were corrupt. In my opinion Batman should have tried to reason with him, teach him and maybe work together for a better Gotham.

You wan to help those in need that are homeless or suffering? It's communism. You want to point out the obvious class struggles and how the corporate class just takes the labor of the working class and overall being corrupt and greedy? Communism. Even during segregation, the propaganda was so strong, White protestors that protested the removal of segregation said "race mixing is communist" like my God. I agree extremists are terrible but being complacent and doing nothing while most people are suffering is also awful.

Taking down society doesn't necessarily fix the problem, unless you have a better structure to replace the one before it. But I argue that the problem is not about structure at all, but about the type of leadership that is running the show. A monarchy, or any other form of government run by corrupt individuals, will be corrupt. Bad people who are in powerful positions just need to be removed, and replaced by those who operate according to higher standards of morality.

The thing about Anarky is that he isn't wrong... on paper. But once you start drawing the lines, you see the difference between him and Batman. Anarky destroys from the outside while Batman makes changes from the inside. Anarky creates enemies with the people while Batman keeps his image off the public, creating as little friction as possible. Anarky fights society while Batman works with society. Anarky has no allies except his band of rejects. Batman, while limited by his range of options, is eventually going to have friends on the inside that are willing t work with him. Anarky wants actively target's society's structures while Batman props them up from the outside. Anarky has no interests outside of destroying the pillars of society. Batman's actions are to clean them up so that he can clean the trash while keeping the city standing. Anarky only thinks about the short term while Batman's motivation is driven by his ideals. While Anarky has plans like Batman, he has no goals that would leave Gotham a better place. Anarky puts his allies in harm's way while Batman fights with his own hands. Anarky's words are only as strong as those that support him. Batman does not place himself above others and actively chases down enemies on his own.

You know what, I'm actually feel kinda bad about the fact, that this Anarky is nothin like in the comics. In the comics he would never fight crimes with cost of innocent human lives. In fact, he actually really sympathetic in comics. In comic Lonney (AKA anarky) disguised himself as an adult in order to cover his ID and batman realize this only after hi beat up him way to much (so much, that Lonney end up in hospital). Also in comics batman actually support idea of Anarky, he just didn't accept the fact, that Lonney broke the law (Lonney tried to destroy construction zone, future bank, which was build on ground, that previously belong to homeless peoples). In other word, just like with black mask, Arkham Origins f**ked up Anarky's character so much... That it almost sad (Sorry for broken English.)

Anyone here think that Anarky raises a few valid points in his speech? I mean, sure he is like Victor Zsasz in the aspect of using bombs to kill a few guilty people and thousands of frightened innocents, but clearly, people do need to look deeper than the traditional portrayal of anarchy as something morally wrong. It, as an ideology, can be morally and ethically correct, but when punks hijack the ideology to advance their own goals ,that is when it becomes morally and ethically wrong. I listened to the whole speech. Anarky does raise the point of people thinking they are better than other people and then ,to a certain degree, bullying them into following their version of the rules. Batman can train Anarky..... But he doesnt have enough time for it. Anarky has a lot to learn. He thinks Batman works so well with the gadjits when truly, its all about the strategy. Anarky needs to get physically and mentally trained. He's also a different type of hero. Batman cant jus teach him how to be like him or Robin when he has a different style of being a hero thatll fit him. Batman cant teach him nor can he or should teach Batman and tell him how to do his job. Batman does the things he do for a reason. I honestly dont see these too working together. In then, Anarky isnt patient enough. Anarky is trying to have everybody as superheros. Not everyone can be 1 thing thats the same for everyone. You could try, but there will still be diversity to it.

Anarky does make decent points. However, look where "Letting Gotham fix itself" is going. Nowhere. Batman might not be a perfect solution, but he's sure better than what's going on now. History, sadly, has proven people are greedy and selfish, even "good" ones. And letting people live under their own rule would only result in a never ending Christmas for the Joker. Not that I don't think Batman is an arrogant, controlling dick who tries keeping everything under his thumb, but blowing up buildings and putting lives in danger immediately kills Anarky's argument. The older Batman in Asylum and City and Knight probably would have sat down and spoken to Anarky but this more rough around the edges, younger Bats just wanted to get him off the streets and move on, which probably won't help the kid's view.

Before de Creation of Anarky, Lonnie Machin should be the son of the Joker, and a future robin, after the death of Jason Todd !

Holy shit anarky is right. He told batman he would turn himself in as soon as bats did the same. But as anarky said bats doesn't see himself as a criminal even though he is.

As an actual anarchist, I took what Anarky was saying into mind and most of what he was saying actually made a lot of sense.

My thoughts @ 16:36- 17:00: "Hmm. You know, maybe there's hope for this guy yet. He appears to be at least somewhat well- intentioned, he sounds like he realizes what he did was wrong, maybe he can be reformed and actually become a force for good..." @ 17:05- 17:46: "Never mind. Have fun in prison, you whiny, arrogant little prick. Don't drop the soap."

He's got a point though. It's seldom I see Batman ever consider he might be doing something wrong. Watch Under the Red Hood. Also, this is meant to mirror Strange's same accusation in Arkham City. In the end, Batman is not the cure, he ends up creating a fertile ground for more crazy nutjobs like the Joker. That's what happens when you let bad guys live and the extremely inefficient law system take care of them(or, should I say, don't take care of them).

I actually have the Batman comic book when he encountered Anarky. Even Batman was surprised when he found he was really just a kid. I think he even considered training him to be Robin. It's nice they stayed true to the source material.

Many people don't seem to realize that Anarky is, first of all, a selfish kid. He doesn't care about justice or something. He just wanna vent his hatred about Gotham's society. You can clearly hear it in his voice. Maybe in childhood he was bullied.

Wouldn't be surprised if they somewhat used Anarky as a concept for The Batman's Riddler.

@@calebgriffy4585if you read his first appearance in the comics there's a moment when he tortures someone on TV, at that moment I realized he was a huge inspiration for Paul Dano's Riddler

Is Anarky wrong? Yes. He is an extremist, and extremism never prevails because it destroys the lives of innocents for a cause that may or may not even work. However, he is very convincing, at least to the point of you considering whether he's right. This is the the kind of guy who could recruit countless people to his cause, especially poor and embittered thugs. The more followers he attracts the more he believes himself to be a savior. That's what makes him a great and realistic villain

+G Turpin I agree. His cause is just in my opinion. But I also agree that bombs and killing people won't solve the problems. Only the overthrowing of the elite will, and that can't be done with violence. If it is, you immediately become what you despise.

Anarky is not a villain, he is an anti-villain. And he is right... that is why he’s an anti-villain; in other words, Anarky is an anti-villain because he is a special type of “villain” who heroes better than heroes can. When it is necessary for the people, he will do what “heroes” can’t or won’t.

Anarky did have some similar idea that Hugo Strange had in Arkham City... I think this is the beauty of the Batman's World. A man with no super power but hard-training and will (and money of course) fights to protect a city by his way, but still needs to face the fact that he is nothing but only human. The way he fight and personality really can be the reasons to cause more trouble in Gotham... The conflict will never really solve and he needs to keep questioning himself....
