Eggman doesn't lack physical strength. In fact he's surprisingly athletic. But he is a scientist. He relies on his bots to do the fighting for him.

“He lacks physical strength.” I see someone forgot to consult Dr Starline.

Batman doesn’t realize that Eggman knows how the simple solutions could easily defeat Sonic. He just doesn’t do that out of pride, a desire to best Sonic with his brilliance rather than something so obvious or dull. Eggman loves to make a spectacle.

Oh Bats, how you gravely underestimate the Eggman

It’s a decent strategy, but it neglects to consider Eggman also doing his own research or contingencies. If this is a blind confrontation, it makes sense he’d underestimate a regular human. But considering his tech, I think he has the potential to counter hack batman. The final thing I want to note is his strength, which was seemingly dismissed as regular human strength. We’ve seen Eggman with no tech, body the likes of Starline who could shatter metal with spin dashes. I think batman with more observance and planning, studying how Eggman’s systems work, he could win against him as long as Eggman would be going into the fight blind.

Eggman definitely has super strength considering what he did to Dr Starline in the Idw comics and what he did to the Ice in Sonic Lost World. I genuinely think Eggman would be a threatening physical fighter if he had an athletic build

Regarding his physicality, it's worth noting that we have seen him outrun Sonic which is downright super human.

The dude is NOT helpless without his machines. Being able to outrun Sonic is a recurring gag in the video games, even being featured in Sonic Adventure 2 when you visit the Chao Garden outside of his battle walker. Not only that, but in the comic series when he's battling Starline, the guy delivers a stomp powerful enough to crack the stone beneath his feet!

Amusingly enough Eggman has actually turned into a good guy in more then a few universes which often led to him going into retirement and becoming a very well respected individual. If a bit eccentric.

Honestly there's no prison that could hold eggman. If he can escape literal universes, what good is a cell in Arkham going to do? He would definitely be a formidable villain in Batman's rogue gallery.

One more thing would be needed if Batman DID manage to capture Eggman. That being the means to prevent escape attempts from either prison or Arkham Asylum, depending on where he ends up. Reason for the preventative measure is tied back to the Sonic X anime. He tried to use Emerl to cause a jailbreak after he got busted when his "get rick quick" scheme got exposed and subsequently thwarted. While that plan failed, one of his robots managed to pull off the jailbreak while Station Square was preoccupied with Eggman's diversionary operation. While the diversionary operation was partly the fault of the prison by allowing him the opportunity to work with machines, it proves that if Eggman gains access to any type of technology, he can orchestrate an escape from confinement either directly or by distracting the guards long enough to move a different escape plan along.

If Sonic or even Tails had made the contingency plan for Eggman, they would have used the code name: Baldy Nosehair.

The biggest flaw with Batman thoughts on Eggman is thinking he nuts, he more like Lex Luthor who see himself as higher being. (At least compared to the athros around him.)

You forgot one crucial: in IDW, Eggman already shown that His no push over in terms of physical capabilities. He shown to be capable of counter attacking the likes of Dc. Starline & Surge... Mostly when They tried to get a little sneaky or tricky, only to be crabbed & SLAMMED by Eggman. As a result, I expect Eggman to be able to hold on His own against on 1v1... If only briefly at least

Doctor Doom would win confrontation with Batman because Doom plans for ALL contingencies. Even seemingly impossible ones. And even if defeated it will simply aid him in some way in the future and he can't be jailed since he can invoke diolomatic immunity.
